banana I'm doing a maths degree. I really think it would be easier if I was at a proper uni, then at least I would have time to actually learn something rather than constantly reading things, being distracted by Orlaith, forgetting what I've read, re-reading... Confused

Orlaith's routine isn't much of a routine. Usually it's 3 naps for half an hour, maybe 45 mins at about 11, 3 and 6ish. But this morning she slept for an hour and 45 minutes! Shock

melly It's good to hear from you, and I'm not so secretly glad sad to hear you're still having sleepless nights too. I thought Orlaith was the only one left not sleeping well, although she did do a 6 hour stretch last night. Grin

mapletrees · 26/03/2011 21:10

I was thinking the same thing saoirse. Every time someone posts about their LO sleeping four hrs straight through I get obscenely Envy. I was beginning to think Louis was the only one not sleeping well. If fact, I'm Envy at your 6 hours, the most he's done in one go since Christmas is 3.5, and mostly he wakes up every 2.5 atm. I'm such a walking zombie, I'm impressed you're doing any reading at all Smile

FriggFRIGG · 26/03/2011 21:16

melly mellymellymellymeelllyyyyy!!!!!!

i missed you!!

im so sorry you and DD are feeling rubbish!Sad
Arlo has decided not to sleep though anymore Hmm
he used to but from about 3 weeks ago,has d
started waking at least twice

and DD seems really 'off' this week, well they both are,no sign of illness, apart from the obligatory runny nose,it's just Arlo is really clingy a crys about everything when he used to be so chilled,
and DD has had innumerous tantrums, keeps pretending she hasnt heard me/ shouting NO! when i ask her to do something...

its crazy, wheres my baby gone, shes like a teenager already!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/03/2011 21:37

Hope you're all feeling better soon mellymooks.

Luke is waking occasionally at night now but has been sleeping through most nights for 2 weeks. I feel so much better for so feel for all of you who are still up lots in the night :(

I am study early years professional status, postgraduate course for working with under 5's. I had done 2 of my 3 2500 word assignments and 1 of 4 500 word assignments. Once submitted I have to have a setting visit and interview.

I made a Dahl tonight from the sainsburys little ones magazine, all the boys enjoyed it and we had chicken kebabs with it (was supposed to be fish but only Luke and I like fish in our house!)

cinnamongreyhound · 26/03/2011 21:39

That's rubbish FriggFRIGG, hope they're back to normal soon!

Dixiebell · 27/03/2011 06:11

How did Arlo know the clocks have gone forward? He's woken up an hour earlier than usual, but because of the clocks it's technically the same time, except mummy has had an hour's less sleep. Hmph.

cinnamongreyhound · 27/03/2011 06:39

Just seen the time on my phone and thought hurray he's made it past 6 but obviously hasn't now I've seen your post Dixiebell, guess who forgot the clocks were going forward!?!

comixminx · 27/03/2011 08:55

Bah, same here! I was all pleased that Aphra didn't wake us until 7:30, but it was 6:30 all along...

SkaterGrrrrl · 27/03/2011 14:04

THERE YOU ARE! Hard to find you lot without the words September 2010 in the thread header, I had to stalk a lot of old threads. :D

I haven't checked in since my birth announcement but now that Rosie is 6.5 months old I need to compare notes.

So she is 22 lbs (!) only just introducing solids to supplement BFing. Has slept through the night about 4 times but since moving her into her own room will do decent stretches of 4 or 5 hours. No teeth yet but boy are we teething! Can roll and almost crawl. Is laughing constantly and has tons of personality, I am enjoying this stage so much!

Lovely to catch up with all of you. xxx

FriggFRIGG · 27/03/2011 15:46

hi skatergrrrrl! we were wondering where you had gone!
i'll catch up properly later!Grin

mapletrees · 27/03/2011 16:04

Hi SkaterGrrrrl, welcome back Grin (you probably wont remeber me as I mainly just lurked on the anti-natal threads). 22lbs, very impressive, you must have good arm muscles! Sounds like you have a lovely giant little girl - good to hear you're enjoying it Smile

So, guess what we did this morning... Had arranged to meet a friend for lunch, but not until 12.30pm so plenty of time to potter around the house before we needed to leave. We were both feeling pretty knackered and Louis seemed happy to lie in bed with us so we all had a bit of a lie-in. When I finally got up to fetch him breakfast I put the radio on, wondered why it was a different programme to normal for that time, thought maybe they've changed things around for some reason? Then I noticed the time on the radio.. it was an hr different to the clock on the cooker, humm strange, but I always use the cooker clock so it must be right... It wasn't until I checked in on here and saw dixie's post that I twigged Blush - and that was 12.25 - arrgh. Thankfully our friend was very understanding when we turned up 35 minutes late. And who said sleep deprivation doesn't make you stupid Hmm

lumpybananapuree · 27/03/2011 18:58

SkaterGrrrrl You're one of the names that crops up under the "I wonder how ......... is doing"! I was bananastew on the old threads. Nice to hear from you.

Cinnamon any word from Sassy??

I also thought Olly had slept longer! How was I supposed to know dh had already changed the clock in the bedroom! Mapletrees you win tho, that made me lol!

Think we've got a tooth almost here! Miserable baby, Screamed in the bath, he never does that, then screamed at bedtime. A little hot rosey cheek and a snotty nose!

saoirse86 · 27/03/2011 19:23

Hi skatergrrrrl I'm like maple and mainly lurked on the antenatal thread. I'm the twin sister of aswellasyou. I think she was around more on the old threads but I've taken her place now! Grin

I think Orlaith must've known the clocks were changing too because she woke at 6.30 new time (so like 5.30 old time - you know what I mean Hmm ). She'd already woken twice at 1.45 and 3.10 so I put DP in charge although he makes a right fuss about it. Angry Surely when the baby's ff you deserve one feed in a whole week to be taken over by your DP/DH, well I think so.

frigg sorry you're kiddlywinks are a bit off, I hope they get better soon. Maybe it's teething and terrible two's? Does that really exist? Someone assure me not, please.

I went out for dinner with DP, Orlaith, my mum, sister, niece, nan and grandad and it was lovely. We go to my nan's for dinner every sunday and are always suggesting we go out for a change so she doesn't need to cook but she refuses. So my mum just booked it and informed her last week. It was really good food. The biggest hit was salty chocolate and caramel tart with blackberry sauce, yum! And the babies were so well behaved, no crying, no tantrums, not much chucking of toys, perfect. Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 27/03/2011 19:46

Hi skatergrrrrl good to hear from you again!!

No word from sassy34264 will let you know if I hear.

Sorry to say saoirse86 terrible twos do exist and in my experience girls suffer from them much more Wink

lumpybananapuree · 27/03/2011 20:04

Saoirse yep, they do & yep girls are worse! My friends all have girls and ds1 is the most placid of them all & he can give a good tantrum! That pudding sound heaven!

saoirse86 · 27/03/2011 20:51

Oh dear...

comixminx · 27/03/2011 20:55

Poor old Aphra has had a horrid early evening; we've ended up putting her to bed a bit early as she hasn't had all the naps she should have had today and is probably over tired. We had to Calpol her because she was so unhappy - think it must be a tooth, but who knows, we've thought that before and had none. The excitement of having DP's brother & sister in law visiting for lunch can't have helped - along with the fact we're also trying to move her into her new cot so she has something different to get used to!

Skatergrrrl, good to see you again!

newmum001 · 27/03/2011 20:55

saoirse (i still have to double check the spelling of your name) DP does all night feeds at weekend and i have a lie in on saturday and dp has one on sunday. I do them through the week and do all the early get ups as he's in work so it's not fair to interrupt his sleep, but i think it's only fair that i get a break from it and luckily DP agrees!

Had such a lovely weekend. Just pottered about yesterday and did food shopping etc (which i secretly really enjoy) and then went to my sisters when Grace was in bed for wine and a gossip. And then today we took Grace to the park with my sister, my best friend, her boyfriend and his son and it was lovely. Grace was sooo well behaved and was amazed by all the kids running around, she had the biggest grin on her face the whole time! It messed her sleep up so there were a few tears this afternoon as she was over tired but nothing too bad. Then i DP sent me up to have a relaxing bath for an hour while he gave Grace her tea etc. He is so lovely sometimes!

Regarding routine we don't really have set times for anything but Grace usually has 3 naps a day, the 1st one can range from half an hour to 1.5 hours and the others are usually an hour ish!

newmum001 · 28/03/2011 09:20

Good morning, Grace didn't wake up till 7 this morning Grin

We've had our first bumped head this morning, Grace holds onto my fingers when she's sat up and lets go when she's steady but she let go a bit quick this morning and fell backwards before i had chance to catch her. She didn't hit her head hard but she was so shocked bless her, she was so upset! As soon as i gave her the sky remote all was forgotten!!

Gonna have to order a blackout blind today, grace still thought it was party time at 7.30 last night cause it was still light!!

Dixiebell · 28/03/2011 09:52

Morning all. Anyone know if it's okay to give babies probiotic yoghurt? Wanted to give Arlo some natural yoghurt with fruit puree rather than buying sweetened stuff but they all say probiotic except the Greek yoghurt. What does that even mean?! Mango and banana for breakfast today. Yummy!

FriggFRIGG · 28/03/2011 10:06

dixie you can buy plain natural yoghurt,or there is special baby/toddler stuff thAT DD has two types yeo valley kids and rachels organic link here and here

i wouldnt use adult or other 'kidie' ones...the amount of sugar is astounding!
they really dont need all that sweetness yet!DD is 2.7 and is still very pleased with a plain or fruit sweetened one.

if you cant see the plain one, look at the supermarket own brands, they often have plain stuff.

i always check the ingredient list on the back....SUGAR is often the second on the list and that means is the second largest quantity in there! Shock

sorry rant over!

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2011 10:50

Agree with FriggFRIGG, I gave ds1 Greek yoghurt with drug mixed in as I hated the amount of sugar in them. From what I was told by the EAT study people you houldnt give pro/prebiotics before 6months. Tesco definitely to a natural yoghurt that is neither but I likethe Greek yoghurt so the boys have that too. Plus petit filous have just started doing natural fromae frais that I bought for Luke added my own fruit purée too but it's more expensive than just buying a bigtub that I eat as well Grin

newmum001 · 28/03/2011 11:15

cinnamon - with drug mixed in? Assuming thats a typo Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2011 11:34

Bloody iphone autocorrect!!!!! It should have said fruit! Also meant to say that probiotic has bacteria added which helps adult guts as it tops up those that can be lost from our natural gut bacteria but as babies have very little in the way of gut bacteria it isn't good for them.

Hope Grace has got over her shock newmum001, Luke fell off the sofa Friday you should have heard the crunch! I was just at the door talking to one of my mums and as he doesn't really move I often prop him in the corner with a toy in his lap.

Just me and my boys this morning as my minded little girl has a tummy bug :( for her and :) for us getting some time alone together.
