Bugger, bugger, bugger!!! First night feed for 9 days, never posting about Luke sleeping through again :(

Personally I think you should wait a bit mapletrees, if you feel like that and as your boss is so flexible about you starting back. Mid-April is only 3-4 weeks not long if you hadn't thought about it much recently!! Was just thinking the other day ds1 was already at a Childminder by now, made me really sad. But then happy that this time I'm not forced into anything, I'm so happy to be able to stay with my little man not that he'd care he'd literally go with anyone!!

lumpybananapuree · 23/03/2011 08:55

Seriously you lot! I have no life. I'm sat on here everynight waiting & waiting for someone to post so I can comment. But no one ever does. I have 1 night off, 1 NIGHT and you're all here! I think you do it on purpose!

Welcome Vimto post away! Ignore Chelle , Beady and ! are the least crazy on the thread! As for little babies I have one. Ds1 now 31mths was 6lb 7oz at birth then went down to 5lb 10oz due to feeding problems. He ended up ff but has remained very small. he's now around 25lb and wears the same size nappies as Olly who's 7mths and 12-18mth clothes but he's fine. He was a nightmare to wean but now loves his food and eats better than anyone I know. He's just a little dot! I worried like mad & force fed him till he was sick on some occasions but it didn't gain anything. Just go at her pace. when she's ready she'll start. I tried too early with ds1. he didn't really take to solids till he was about 7 months! Waffle waffle waffle! sorry!

newmum bout the finger foods, am I right in thinking Grace is one of the younger ones?? Don't push her. Like you said, try again in a week or so but do keep trying. I know someone who didn't & their 3 year old still has mush!!!! They're all different & the gag reflex is stronger in some than others!

For Vimto (and actually think its a nice update for everyone Beady! good idea!)

Olly born 31st Aug
8lb natural delivery
dark hair, blue eyes
now around 18lb (the same size his brother was at 11 months!)
sits up, doesn't roll, move or anything
Likes most food just not big amounts & sweet is definately a fave!
Happy happy happy, content in his own company or watching others.
Fast asleep on the settee next to me (always been a tummy sleeper) and the most wonderful baby boy ever! (well, equal to ds1!)

Maple its a horrible feeling isn't it! I've got another 5 months off but it'll go so fast. I'm going to gradually introduce nursery 1 day a week for the last month & build it up. Must be really difficult with the feeding.

On the subject of nursery, I found an interesting fact out yesterday that'll affect most of you. (You probably all know & I'm just slow!) The free nursery hours from 3yrs. I always thought it was from the term after your child turns 3 so jan-apr birthdays start after easter etc. I found out yesterday that there's a cut off date. For starting in Sep the cut off is aug 31st! so anyone born after that won't get the free hours till jan!!!!!!!!!! I scraped olly in by 23.5 hours!!!!

monster post. sorry!

Olly 28weeks (???)

newmum001 · 23/03/2011 09:20

For vimto

Grace born 14th September at 21.44 weighed 6lb 10oz (have no idea about length etc as i was off my face on gas and air and could only just about see straight) Grin
She now weighs about 20lb
Has taken to purees really well but gags and gets sick with anything slightly chunky
She is very spirited and needs constant entertaining - she doesn't like her pram and is a bit of a bugger to get to sleep during the day
She has 2 teeth and at least another 3 on the way
She has the most beautiful smile i have ever seen!!!!!!
She can sit unaided for a minute or two, can roll over but doesn't really want to and she's trying really hard to crawl

Lumpy i think she's somewhere in the middle age wise, i'm gonna give her a week or two then try again!

Cinnamon, what do you do regarding Luke and the pram? He likes the sling aswell doesn't he? Do you just have to let him cry/grumble? I learnt a long time ago not to talk about Grace's sleep on here, it's like she knows and decides to do the exact opposit of what i say!

Beadit - the probation people are supposed to be phoning back today. I'm in a different position to when he went to prison as i'm with DP now and don't really feel scared but my sister only lives down the road and her house mate spends a lot of time at her boyfriends and i just know that if he finds out where we live he won't be able to stay away! We'll see what happens but i'm really gonna push for the injunction as he is really unstable! I'm off to read the OBEM thread now as i thought the couple were really really lovely. I must admit when i saw the clip of them at the end of the previous weeks show i thought they were gonna be really chavvy and not give a shit but they really loved eachother!

newmum001 · 23/03/2011 09:24

Bloody hell only read the first post on the OBEM thread and i'm already annoyed! She did not go on about having a fag she mentioned it once!! It's a good job i didn't see this thread at the time. Some people on here really are judgemental.

Marches off to read the rest of it!!!

comixminx · 23/03/2011 10:28

Good idea this summary malarky.

Aphra born 2nd Sept weighing 6 lbs 6 oz / 2.95 kg, length 49 cm
Now 29 weeks old, probably about 6 kilos or a bit less
She really grabs for food most of the time: loves grabbing the spoon in my hand and manouvering it into her mouth, or grabbing the spoon entirely off me and smearing it across her face! She hasn't yet hated any food but she particularly seems to like pear, broccoli, apple.
She can roll over sometimes (front t back) and loves it when she does, but I think she can't really do it consistently. She can lift up the upper part of her body on her arms very well, and sit up unaided. She can't yet sit up from a lying down position but the day is not too far off for that! As far as crawling is concerned she can push herself backwards reasonably well and can move forwards a little bit but not massively so.
She's a really sociable, happy, smiley little baby who is generally very easy and loves to meet new people.
No teeth yet though she's had plenty of dribbles and ear-rubs since she was about 3 months old!

JodeyBogeyPicker · 23/03/2011 11:03

Welcome Vimto. I'm \sure you will find this thread a real help. Everyone is lovely and always give good, thoughful advice. I love you guys Grin.

For Vimto

Harlyn (big boy) born 1st October by c-section weighing 8.3 (now weighing 20.13).
He was intially BF with formula top up till 3 months old.
Suffered colic and still suffers reflux.
Weaning started at 17 weeks due to huge milk appetite.
Has 2 bottom teeth
Loves everything I give him in terms of food.
Rolls regularly front to back but only managed his first back to front today (did it 3 times and then banged his head and started to cry, poor little monkey).
Sits up unsupported and also (like Olly) loves to pull himself to standing.
Favourite pass time other than eating is to bounce bounce bounce and smile smile smile.
Favourite toy is sophie the Giraffe who makes him giggle.
He also loves to giggle at the dog!

Cinamon so glad top hear that things seems to be ok as far as your DH's job is concerned.

Right, I'm off for a stroll around the res!

JodeyBogeyPicker · 23/03/2011 11:04

newmum meant to say sorry to hear that news. Our justice system can be really crappy and unfair.

Debs75 · 23/03/2011 11:45

HI Vimto I do BLW with Lucy (7months) I started with a chunk of steamed potato and passed it to her hand and she did the rest. She doesn't eat much but will happily hold pieces of food and chew on them. The BLW slogan is 'food is fun till 1' as Breastmilk is high enough in calories to sustain them until 1. Any food they get until then is all about learning how to eat and tasting the food.
I did it with dd2 and she eats anything now, I think it really helps with learning loads of different foods and textures and they seem to like the control they have over their food. Lucy is so controlling she won't let you put any food in her mouth. If i give yogurt i have to dip the spoon and let her hold it, she was surprised by the yogurt on the nipple method we tried the other day, strawberry flavoured breastmilk, yum.

Don't worry too much about HV's as they tend to try and get you to do things the way they were trained or the way they did it with their LO's. Mine knew nothing about BLW and I have had a few tell me it is dangerous. It isn't by the way as they are in control so they know what is in their mouths. Have fun with weaning and welcome to our group.

Debs75 · 23/03/2011 11:49

Oh I like this summary.

Lucy born 14 August, 6lb, 6oz, 4 weeks early, induced due to not growing for a month
Natural delivery
Exclusively breastfed
Co-sleeping, she hates her cot
Youngest of 4
weighs 15lb so still a tiddler
BLW fed but she is quite happy not to eat as she loves her 'boobie juice'
Loves her Daddy
Likes to play with her linking rings and Pooh Bear teether
Would prefer it if Mummy was her bed as prams and cots are to boring

mapletrees · 23/03/2011 12:45

Thanks guys. It's good to know I'm not the only one to feel like this Smile I've asked if we can put him in for 2 days from 10th May, and then go up to 3 when the other day we want is available (they had offered us Tu,W,F instead of Tu,W,Th). Just hoping they'll say yes. I will still have him M and Th and DP will have him F (though I might use up some leave on the first few Fs while we hopefully get him ok feeding from a cup). I think it will be easier to go to the nursery to BF him than find a clean, private place to pump at my work, so he might just have to have some formula on Fridays if I can't pump enough on Wed and Thurs evenings (will be easier for DP too as he's likely to be out and about a lot).

Loving the updates, will be back later with ours, but right now the weather's soo nice I'm going to hunt out the picnic rug and take Louis to the park... Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 23/03/2011 14:07

Thanks JodeyBogeyPicker, he seems much happier today but he will still be investigated just the consequences will be less than we first thought.

newmum001 I carry him a bit, try to entertain him with toys, he will chew on a bickiepeg for a bit then if he gets really stressed I feed him and he will quite often go off to sleep if he's been whinging for a while. Have tried sitting, laying and stages in between but laying seems the best. He likes the sling but only facing away and there are times when I don't want to use it (mainly when I want something to hang my bags and bits on!) so I want him to get used to it.

Luke was born 13th September at 5.30pm 9lb 2oz, natural delivery after induction, he has an older brother who is almost 4 and a half brother who is 9 1/2. He was 18lb at 24 weeks.
He is a lovely happy baby and a total flirt, smiles at everyone he sees! I started weaning at 17 weeks because I enrolled him in the EAT study where he had to have certain allergenic foods before 6 months. He really didn't like it to start with but now enjoys his food and eats everything I offer but just in small portions and still loves his milk.
He sleeps well in his cot during the day and night (if he wakes he feeds and goes straight back to sleep) but is not a fan of his pushchair and will only sleep there for 30mins at a time.
He has 2 bottom teeth and shoves everything he gets his hands on into his mouth, he can only sit for 20seconds without support and rolls front to back only.
Loves splashing in the bath and in the swimming pool, standing up, bouncing in his chair and door bouncer as well as stroking the cats as they pass him and has just discovered Mummys keys which are the only thing he cries at if taken away!

lumpybananapuree · 23/03/2011 17:23

oooh! I'm loving these updates! What a happy bunch of babies we have.

Debs if Lucy was 6lb 6oz 4 weeks early and hadn't grown for a month, what size would she have been if she had and was term Shock

Another beautiful day. We had a long walk to my friends (The furthest ds1 has walked), had lunch, came home and sat in the garden and got the water table out for ds1. I was very impressed cos he played with it for ages and didn't get himself wet. We were all then so tired Olly had his milk & we all went to bed for 2 hours!!!!!!!!! Never thought I'd be doing that with 2 under 3!!!!!

Tonights tea- slow cooked sausage & lentil casserole. 1 cup lentils, 8 sausages, 1 tin toms, 1 onion, 1 clove garlic, a few herbs & top it up with water to cover! My own concoction and a great hit. Sausages in the slow cooker ar so soft that they melt in your mouth.

SeaChelles · 23/03/2011 19:20

Oooh a summary! For vimto:

Olly, born after 6 hours labour with just gas and air, weighing in at 7lb11oz.
Exclusively FF.
Currently weighs about 19lb.
Been weaning since 17 weeks, loves his food, everythign except fish! Hmm
Bounciest baby in the world - has been supporting his own weight since very early on!
Is sitting up unsupported for as long as I can be bothered hovering and making sure he doesn't knock himself out!
Rolls all over the shop and pulls himself up in to a standing position whenever the oppurtunity arises!
Likes to be entertained by mummy - a lot!
Nosy and wants to see the world from shoulder height!
Sleeps well.....for the most part!
I love him more than I could ever have though possible!

Welcome Vimto :)

Maria-Ann was born 21 September 6 days early! weighing 6lbs 12oz at 3.42am, natural delivery, she has an older sister who is 8 and loves her to bits. She now weighs 16lbs 13oz at 27 weeks, she likes to be entertained all the time. She loves her little friend who is of similar age but like to show she is boss. She is a very smiley baby and loves bouncing in her jumperoo. Weaned her at 17 weeks due to going off formula, now eats all sorts of things and is getting used to finger foods also enjoys watching other people eat! Can be a screamer at times if she doesn't get enough sleep which is quite often at night, will sleep for up to an hr in her cot during the day, loves growling at random things, can say mama and hiya. Absolutely loves going in her pram and you dont hear a peep out of her till were back, can roll back to front and loves tummy time, loves other babies and gets excited when she see's them. Has no teeth yet but is teething really bad (hopeing they will cut soon), fascinated over the tv remote and loves bath time and finds it funny to soak mummy!

Maria-Ann slept 8 and half hrs last night yeahhhhhhhh Grin she even had a bottle and went back to sleep for another 2hrs, really hope it continues but not getting my hopes up. I feel really refreshed today, took Maria-Ann for a long walk with my friend and her LO, ended up passing a lovely pub and thought it was rude to pass without having a shandy and something to eat Wink was well desearved after tracking up hills with a parm Grin the view was lovely though!
Maria-Ann 27 +1????

watersprite · 23/03/2011 19:26

lumpy i'm gonna try ur casserole, any paticular sausages??

MammyG · 23/03/2011 20:32

Go Maria Ann! Loads more sleepy nights and you will have a very happy mammy!

Love the updates!! Have all new mental pics of your LOs and their little personalities!
Phoebe was a dot at 7.4lbs. A very easy and 'nice' labour! (thanks Phoebs!) she has two older brothers who are 3 & 4 and they dote on her. She lights up and bounces like mad when they are around.
She has the brightest piercing blue eyes I have ever seen and a huge mop of curly black/brown hair (in fact needs a trim!)
She is the smiliest most sociable baby I have ever met! Everyone just falls over her as she grins and 'bab babs' them! She adores her daddy and squeals everytime she sees him. She has started singing and hasnt a note in her head but she loves it! She also thinks her toes and the most curious things in the world. She can roll back to front and only sits for seconds.
She eats loads and everything! I have had evenings when I thought she was going to eat me things were getting so bad! She is still petite tho getting a lot fuller! She has rings of fat like two doughnuts on the top of her thighs that I love and is sooooo ticklish!
I think you can tell Im besotted!

Another lovely day and another tired but happy family.....Think I should move to spain or the south of france!

lumpybananapuree · 24/03/2011 08:05

newmum any sausages! I tend to use lincolnshire ones but any are fine. Posh ones are really tasty!

I found Olly upside down in his cot at 5am! this the tha baby who doesn't move!!!

The 2 hour nap yesterday was a mistake! been up 2 1/2 hours already!

mapletrees · 24/03/2011 09:11

Louis was born on 1st Sept, at 38 weeks, by ELCS due to placenta praevia, weighing 7lbs 6oz. He was such a hungry boy at first that he lost less than 1% of his weight and went from the 20th to the 75th centile in the first 6 weeks. He's now settled just below the 50th but is still tall and lean. He was EBF until 25 weeks when we started weaning, and so far has liked every food we've given him. He's a very smiley baby most of the time, but a crap sleeper (the longest he's ever done is 5 hrs, 3 since Christmas), starting the night in his cot, but usually finishing it in our bed. He rolls both ways easily and shuffles round, but doesn't look like he'll be crawling any time soon, and can hold his own weight sitting and standing, but doesn't have the balance to stay upright. He has had very good hand-eye co-ordination from about 3 months when he learnt to grab a moving toy and pass it from one hand to the other, and he has inherited my mother's iron grip (useful for westling toys from toddlers and pulling out chunk's of mummy's hair). He loves bouncing, my singing Hmm, being in the sling, watching me eat, shaking things, banging things, snuggling up with mummy and daddy, bathtime, playing peek-a-boo, grinning at people and his current favorite toy friend is the, surprisingly tolerant, cat. He always has an extra big smile for his daddy when he gets back from work. His first word was 'window' (about 2 weeks ago) Wink

mapletrees · 24/03/2011 09:12

Oh, and he has two besotted parents, one of whom tends to go on a bit Grin Grin

SeaChelles · 24/03/2011 12:45

Well Oliver slept lovely again last night with only one dummy reinsertion between 7pm and 6:30am and no feeds (3 nights running). I am not worried about jinxing myself here as I have absolutely no hope that this will continue!

Me and Olly were up and ready by 7:30am this morning (something went wrong somewhere!), so we had some breakfast and then went to the shops for 8:30am. Got him some new swimming trunks and thought it best to pick up some suncream for him and keep it in the changing bag seeing as the weather has been so lovely. If he's anything like his Daddy he will look like a crab after two minutes in the sun! So thought I best stock up on the factor 50!

Unfortunately the rest of the shops didnt open til 10am so we went for a little walk in the sun instead - well, I walked - Oliver napped!

He likes chicken a lot more than fish! Grin We've also got some jelly to try later, sugar free, no added anything crap but still - JELLY! Hehe... Beef casserole tomorrow too. It's very exciting trying all these new things isn't it!

Off to visit Nanny at work in the morning as she wants to show him off! Then to the coast to see DP's parent on Sat afternoon and over the water to see relatives in Liverpool on Sunday! Busy busy bee's!

Hope you're all well.

cinnamongreyhound · 24/03/2011 14:04

Must have been awake at the same time lumpybananapuree, but I didn't have to get up as Luke just stays in his cot chatting but I was awake which was bad enough. Was up at 1.30 with ds1 who had a bad dream about a white monster with scary teethies :(

I have a blocked milk duct, ow! I'm massaging it and heating it as well as changing feeding positions and just keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't turn into mastitis. Went to clinic today and Luke is 19lb 4oz/ 8.74Kg and has gone above the 75th centile now. I asked about him not dropping milk feeds and she has suggested that I try to cut the feed before his solids by a few minutes to get him more hungry for the solids, any thoughts? Not really sure he'd be happy about that and he is only 27 weeks so it's not too much of a problem but it just seems that most of the babies I know are dropping feeds very quickly and ds1 did too. Luke will eat anything but only small portions and is often hungry for milk about an hour after but I don't want to force feed him more than he wants. I know it's early days but I also don't want to end up with him relying too heavily on milk 6 months down the line. Sorry a bit of a ramble!

27w+3, 19lb 4oz
