Well little Olly is fast asleep - on his tummy.... I literally put him down in his cot and no sooner had I got to the door he had rolled on to his belly and conked out. He must just be more comfy that way I guess! Didn't have to heart to turn him back over, he looked so beautiful. Have to keep going to check on him now though!

He's got a little rash all around his waist today too where his nappy is rubbing his little belly Sad, poor beggar - can't do anything more than put cream on it for him really.

We had a lovely day today as he slept in a little until 8am (which kind of made up for the three times I had to get up with the alarm going off!) and then we went for a swim. First time I have taken him on my own and the mum and baby changing rooms are fab! They even provide a little baby bouncer for you to stick him in while you're getting dressed! Was very impressed! Grin

I could be totally wrong but I'm not convinced eating lots is essential for sleeping through watersprite, although if she enjoys the finger foods then there's no problem with it. Glad things are improving though.

Took Luke's food out with us today and he ate it all, opened his mouth for every spoonful so I think at lot of it is timing with his eating, maybe Aphra is the same comixminx?

I got my mooncup today, it took me 4 attempts to get it in right but I can't feel it at all and it hasn't leaked so far. Hoping it will be a money saver and I shouldn't have to change it every hour as I was with tampons.

newmum001 · 04/03/2011 20:17

Grace has finally learnt to roll over properly!! she's done it a couple of times before but has shown no interest for weeks and tonight she did it once and then over and over again. She would not sit still, she was going from back to front and then back again i was so proud Grin

had a lovely day today, went and got my hair cut and when i got out of the hairdressers my mum was waiting for me with Grace fast asleep in her pram so we had a walk through the park and came home and Grace slept for another hour so me and my mum had a really good gossip and then my sister came round for a chinese tonight, it's been a really relaxed day.

Also DP's mum is picking Grace up in the morning and having her for a couple of hours, DP's step dad has just been diagnosed with cancer although we're not sure what type it is yet he's got to have more tests so he's not very mobile but he adores grace and wants to see her (i think maybe to take his mind off whats going on) so she's spending the morning with them, dp is going with her. I get the whole day to myself and i'm ashamed to say i will be spending it food shopping and i cannot wait to go to tesco on my own for a change!

Then i'm off for dinner in Manchester and then to see boyzone (no i am not really 13) but me and my sister and best friend were soooo obsessed with them when we were younger and have been to both tours since they got back together for old times sake!!

Quick question, at what age do babies tend to cut out a nap? Grace is having 3 atm the last one being at 15.30 ish and she usually has an hour but the last 2 days she's had a 10 minute on and 20 minutes instead of the usual hour. Just wondering if she's maybe going to cut this one out soon?

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

comixminx · 04/03/2011 20:27

cinnamon, yes, I agree that much of it is the timing re how much Aphra wants to eat - as we're on hols it's a bit harder to get the timing right as someone else is cooking / planning the outings. But I think she might have also been a bit full of poo too!

Good luck with the moon cup - I really liked mine once I got used to it.

newmum, sorry about your DP's stepdad - good luck with that. BUT sounds like you're going to ave a great relaxed time tomorrow!

SeaChelles · 04/03/2011 20:40

cinammon / watersprite - I agree that eating lots doesn't necessarily lead to sleeping through etc. Olly eats loads and we haven't had a sleep through for weeks....maybe one will come soon....like a late Xmas present! Grin

MammyG · 04/03/2011 21:28

newmum sounds like a lovely day tomorrow! I have the opposite all three all day long! IME the afternoon nap is the first to go. Phoebe has stretched her noon nap and now does upwards of two hours but doesnt have an afternoon nap anymore.

lumpy My friend never questioned her name change. Guess it was easier when it was her second name etc I remember her telling me that her Dad just rocked up to her mum and said 'thats it Ive tried if for 2 years and its still not at all right!' Its funny cause all along I had Eliza in mind and when we saw Phoebe just knew straight away it wasnt for her. Now everyone comments on how Phoebe is the perfect name for her.

Another lazy day! We decamped to a friends house this afternoon. boys played with her son all evening, we ordered it, even brought their pjs and dressed them there, bit of telly then home and straight into bed. Little girl rolled front to back for the first time while there and nearly made back to front! The look on her face was priceless while she registered what was going on!

comixminx · 04/03/2011 21:43

Travelling back home tomorrow, yikes. Car to the train station in France, TGV to Paris, train across Paris, Eurostar to London, probably taxi across London, train to Oxford, taxi or bus back home, collapse into bed.

On the plus side I now have an extended vocabulary of baby words in French. "mignonne" is sweet, "sage" is good (or wise, literally), "vous la nourissez vous-même" is do you breastfeed her, and "teter" is another way of talking about breastfeeding - sounds kinda amusing as it's clearly to do with the word teat. Or maybe it's only me who is kinda tickled by thisnslightly specialist vocabulary! patito must find the same with being a mum in Spain, presumably.

Dixiebell · 05/03/2011 04:14

Argh. Arlo just woke & DH insisted he needed changing, even though my mummy poo radar hadn't gone off! So he went to change him, without taking a change of clothes in, left him too long with nappy off and missed a wee, cue screaming hungry baby, lying in a puddle, wet right up to his head, and turns out he didn't actually need changing at all (the mummy poo radar is never wrong!). And how exactly was he planning to put new clothes on without taking any with him (new clothes are almost always required for a night change)? And he left the grobag in the other room too. Poor Arlo was hysterical - he only wanted a feed! Good intentions daddy, but stress at 4am is not what we needed!

SeaChelles · 05/03/2011 13:37

Dixie - oh no! DP always seems to think Olly is having a poo! Its either "oh are you having a poo!" or "oh are you tired?"....haha...if only they were the two solutions to everything! Grin

Olly seems to be sleeping a little better - hopefully it was just a growth spurt - or the hungry baby milk is doing its job. The only problem we have now is that 5 nights out of 7 he is leaking out of his nappy, which means I am waking him up more than necessary when feeding. He needs a complete change everytime, including a new sleeping bag. The size 4 nappies are still too big for him and always leak, so he is still in 3's. Dont really know what more I can do though! I guess theres only so much wee they can hold!

We've just found a beautiful place up near York for a week away at the start of April. Its a lovely log cabin with a fishing lake and our own hot tub! Woohoo! Hopefully DP will be able to get the time off.

Taking the dog to visit his possible new home tomorrow... Sad, sorry to maybe see him go but its best for him...

Olly 23wks tomorrow.

cinnamongreyhound · 05/03/2011 22:41

Sorry about your night Dixiebell, hope it goes better tonight!

Glad Olly's sleeping is improved SeaChelles, hope the nappy problem sorts itself out. I don't think Luke wees a lot as I have no problems with a nappy lasting 12 hours at night. Hope you have a wonderful holiday, sounds lovely.

Hope your journey was a good one Comixminx

Where's beaditAli been this week? Are you lurking somewhere or busy with your jewellery?

Been to a birthday party today and otherwise doing householdy jobs as dh was at work. Weekends always go so fast, hoping Sunday lasts a few more hours than today did! Night all :)

cinnamongreyhound · 06/03/2011 10:55

Hope all goes well with the dog SeaChelles, just had a thought about nappies are you still using newborn or have you moved onto something else? I still have Luke in size 3 newborn huggies but I bought natural fit this week and I wondered if it makes any difference which ones you use? With ds1 I used superdry at night as they are supposed to last 12hrs and natural fit in the day as they seemed more comfortable to me. I think they do a similar with pampers as well, just a thought.

So annoyed at myself, I knew Luke was tired but I wanted to try and get into the habit of having breakfast as he quite often has a second milk feed an hour or so after his first one of the morning after going a while in the night without one. I have to catch him before he's too hungry or he won't eat solids. I should have just put him in his cot and let him sleep but I really wanted him to be dressed and sleep in the pushchair so I could walk the dog and then put him in his cot so I didn't have to disturb him to take her out or I have to wait to take her out when dh gets home from work and it;s not really fair on her. Anyway he ate some but because he was tired kept putting his hands in his face and getting it everywhere, screamed when I wiped him when he'd finished and couldn't settle in the cot so I fed him to sleep and he's now fast asleep on my lap in his pyjamas and I'm feeling guilty :(

SeaChelles · 06/03/2011 13:17

Thanks cinammon. He's not in the newborn ones no - he's sleeping in the Asdas own ones at the min which state they are midi. So the one up from newborn. They do an "active fit" however, maybe I should try these....

The ones he's in at the min, both Asda and Huggies both boast "12 hours dryness!" - my arse!!! Wink I'll have to check what absorbency it says on the packs of 4's I've got stashed.

Don't feel guilty - sometimes no matter what you do you can't get the timings right! And you were only doing what you needed to in order to get the rest of your day done! Just the way it is with babies I'm finding out! Smile

We booked our break, go on the 4th April for 4 nights. Very excited! Me and Olly will spend all day in the hot tub whilst daddy fishes! Grin

He's having his nap now - am finding he sleeps better going down at 1pm instead of 2pm....weird....but prob just jinxed it!!

SeaChelles · 06/03/2011 13:18

Ooooh I forgot to say - we were having some tummy time yesterday on our bed and he's started pushing up with his knees to get his butt in the air....I hear crawling calling!!!! Grin

beaditAli · 06/03/2011 21:16

I'm HEEEEEEEERe! Grin
Had a really busy week with work and now that the sun has got his hat on a little more I'm getting out and about for walks more with Sarahbears and Daisy

Took Jack to the Docs on Thursday with a really bad rash and right on cue he has a horrid cold and temperature. Had A LOT of crying today and can barely take a bottle so must be really hungry. Sad not really had the best of weekends.

Chelle Hungies super dry are probably the best night time ones we've tried tho not so good during the day as i think they're wider than others. There's NO WAY Jack would still be in 3s in tho! He is A Pee Machine!

Everyone sounds like they're enjoying big changes in their los! Crawling, rolling, feeding etc etc! They'll all be on the kids version of Mumsnet next week chatting to each other! Wink

Kidsnet posting by 'Arlobell':

Can't believe how difficult the dparents have been this weekend. Today the dragged me round Hampshire in the car, getting me out of carseat every time I was nicely asleep, and forcing me back into it whenever I wanted to play. Friday night ddad insisted on whipping off my nappy at 4am for no reason, so I peed all over myself just to teach him. And dmum insists on trying to tip milk down my throat from some plastic/rubber contraption when I've told her in no uncertain terms I will only drink from a boob. Dparents, eh, so much trouble, but you've gotta love them, haven't you? :)

cinnamongreyhound · 07/03/2011 00:40

Arlobell I think your parents are pretty standard aa far as parents go but thebizarre things they do are them trying to do their best for you.

Glad work is busy and you're enjoying the sunshine beaditAli!

Hoping comixminx is safely home now.

Dh has the car for 3 days this week so loads of extra walking for me, here's hoping the rain stays away! Sold my bits on eBay so I can start buying for ds1's birthday party, yay!!! Sooo excited, ice even found a 40 in T Rex ballon Grin. Dh is off photocopying tomorrow in preparation for my mammoth paperwork catch up. All learning journeys are upto date until Aug 09 and the rest is post it stuck in Blush. Oh well at least I have until 18th. Moral of the story is keep on top of things then there is never a huge amount to do?!?!?

comixminx · 07/03/2011 11:13

Hah hah - liking the Arlobell posting! Aphraminx says she's enjoying the juicy plum her dmum has been offering her but can't understand why it's whipped away every so often and her fingers & mouth given a good wiping instead!

Back safely on Sat night, cinnamon, thanks for asking! It was a long day but not too bad really,. Yesterday was a quiet morning but in the aft we went over to a friend's for some food and then to Blackwells bookshop for a very interesting talk, so a bit less relaxing an end to the day! Am currently lying in bed with Aphra feeding, though, so alls well...

beaditAli · 07/03/2011 11:25

Glad not so many of you live near Jack and DaisyBears ........ we're a poorly bunch up here! Not sure what's up with Daisy but she only fell asleep at 6.30am and her lovely folks were walking the streets at 4am Sad

Jack has antibiotics for suspect tonsillitis Sad has only slept for 5 hours since 7pm last night. The poor lil guy! Now i'm really wishing I had a sling cos he cries and cries as soon as I put him down. AND he weighs an actual ton Biscuit

So many things online suggest that teething doesn't make them poorly but if we end up with a tooth at the end of the week I'll not think it's a coincidence!

cinnamon do you get Easter hols etc as a childminder?

Jackington signing in: I'm so far off my tits thanks to the Drs round here that I'm too dizzy and sleepy to post anything of any interesting value! My breath is quite cheesy today tho! But... never had cheese! Riddle me that???!!! xxxxx

cinnamongreyhound · 07/03/2011 14:46

I have been through all of my photos and they are now the right size to stick in the learning journey's, now the writing can begin (and I mean writing, you only get hard copies of the forms :()!

It's down to the personal childminder beaditAli, I take bank holidays off and I charge for them but I don't charge for any of my other holidays. I have booked May half term week off and we are going away and I will have 2 weeks in August. I usually only take 2 weeks in August but last year we went away in May half term due to being due to give birth in August and it was much cheaper but still with good weather so I am taking 3 weeks off this year.

Keep thinking about buying some plums for Luke comixminx, perhaps I will now if Aphra is eating them.

Ooohh..... Luke rolled from front to back 3 times yesterday. Wouldn't repeat it in front of dh but ds1 saw and told Daddy it was true!

25 weeks.

newmum001 · 07/03/2011 18:54

Hi all,

Beadit is Jack feeling any better?

quick question, i've started grace on a few finger foods. She managed really well with half a rusk but tried her with melon twice and it's made her gag both times. She hasn't panicked or anything but i was just wondering if this is normal while they get the hang of swallowing things.

comixminx · 07/03/2011 19:43

newmum, as I understand it the gagging on stuff thing is part of what baby led weaning is all about - as they experiment with what they can and can't swallow / deal with, they will gag - but that's ok and to be expected. Apparently it means they will handle lumps & texture better as a result and they are overall less likely to actually choke. Apparently.

lumpybananapuree · 07/03/2011 20:16

Evening all! Newmum gagging is normal. its actually preventing them chokingfor 1st finger foods I find things they can mush with their tongue good like parsnip or ripe avocado.

Beady Poor you all. Hope everyones feelong better soon

Arlobell you poor thing. What horrible parents I'd ditch them!

I'm so excited, I'm going to centreparcs with the girls next jan a whole weekend child and man free!
AND I'm in the process of planning my childrens themed birthday party! We're going to have jelly & ice cream, play pass the parcel, musical bumps and musical status (grin)

I have the dentist tomorrow. I have to deal with the pregnancy fall out! A tooth every baby or so they say. I had desperate sensitivity when I was pregnant and its back! Ugh!

Babyg to Arlobell Totally hear you! Dmammy thought she would drag me to the supermarket close to lunch. Had to teach her a big lesson so cue poo explosion all over my stockings and vest! Had my nappy changed in the front seat of the car ...would highly recommend it! The wind on your bum is a very funny feeling! Grin
