it appears I posted the last post... so here's a new thread

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
StarExpat · 31/01/2011 11:04

cf - for about 5 hours the first round, I think... then nothing for about 24 hours, then one big one again at night after the 24ish hours. After that one, DH vomited, then I did as well.

ewwwwww

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/01/2011 11:05

I nervously washed a feather pillow recently and it turned out ok. I found some online tips for doing it - let me see if I can find again.

drs don't say to starve any more. brat diet supposed to be best (bananas rice apples toast) but i'd just give whatever he feels like.

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/01/2011 11:07

here cf www.think-house-cleaning.com/cleaning-feather-pillows.html

StarExpat · 31/01/2011 11:07

apples were not a good thing for Q when sick. he vomited those almost instantly. I think too acidic.

But bananas and toast ok eventually. Didn't try rice.

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/01/2011 11:08

and again as a link!

StarExpat · 31/01/2011 11:08

SO weird! My dr said to only give water after he'd been sick for the 5 hours. I have heard of brat diet before, though... somewhere. Odd about the apples, though

StarExpat · 31/01/2011 11:11

OH my goodness! I must have dreamt this! How very odd. I thought I had read a post from "50ftLurker" this morning... but I must have read it in a dream! I don't usually dream about reading MN... I was very nervous about the potential response to my OD of medicine to my child... so that may have been why... anyway, she had changed her name as had been lurking not posting... lol.

Anyway, 50ft - if you're out there, hello! I hope you're well :)

Coconutfeet · 31/01/2011 11:57

Dreaming about MN is surely a bad sign Star! Smile

Thanks for the link CSWS. V useful. He's asked for cheese on toast which I'm not sure is a great idea, but hopefully a sign that he's feeling a bit better.

I think we might watch another Toy Story this afternoon. I ca't be arsed with anything else. [Bad mother emoticon]

StarExpat · 31/01/2011 12:27

Haven't you heard? Good mothers let their children watch TV/DVDs/Computer/whatever they want to play a programme on. It's the latest! I follow it daily. Grin

Pillow has come up fine. Thank you! I'm going to do the rest now I know that I can.

I've just had an enormous bouquet delivered. It's gorgeous. One of my lovely best friends thought I needed cheering up. Smile I think I may have to buy a vase tomorrow as I've got nothing anywhere near big enough.

So Pistachio - is that it now? Are you ready to be let loose on the public on your own? Wink

Congrats Pistachio! :)

Glad the pillows came out fine. I would have thrown them in, too. But would rub laundry powder on the sick part first and spray some stain remover to pre treat. It is dire.

Q's cheeks are bright red and HOT. Maybe he's getting some more teeth? Or has SC?

Coconutfeet · 31/01/2011 20:53

Ah, Ok. I thought you meant that was it. When you expect to be finished? My old CM was training to be a BF counsellor through the NCT and she said that when she started, she couldn't understand why all the other women were taking so long to complete their course. She's still doing it several years later.

Star - The sick part on the pillows wasn't too bad fortunately - most of it went on me and S! S also had really hot cheeks this weekend and today complained that his mouth was hurting, so I think it's new teeth. It could be the same for Q. Could that also explain the high temp yesterday?

Yes, I think she figured that out quite quickly once she started! I think it's great that you're able to take it slowly and fit it round your other responsibilities.

S has still got loads of teeth to come. He's still barely got any teeth at the sides, top or bottom. We've still got that joy to look forward to. Hmm

StarExpat · 31/01/2011 21:14

I just read that disturbing thread about sex trade. I'm Shock and :( and cannot believe what I have read.

Yes,I hope this is just teeth. I don't dare put my fingers in there now. He'll bite!

I thought you were done, too pistachio! Congrats anyway on getting over this hurdle!

StarExpat · 31/01/2011 21:15

Q has his top and bottom teeth until the back - arent there only a few on each side?... I can only consider it may be some of the back molars?

Coconutfeet · 31/01/2011 21:26

I'm not quite sure how many they're supposed to have but S has only got one on each side once you get past the incisors. The rest is just empty space. I put my finger in today (he was on strict instructions not to bite, and complied thankfully) and there's definitely a big bump under the skin so I think more must be on their way.

StarExpat · 31/01/2011 21:31

Wow. Q just screams when I try to put my finger in his mouth to see about teeth.

pepperrabbit · 31/01/2011 21:58

Ah, I have some vague expertise here...
J had her first dentist check up last week, she was soooo good - opened her mouth and everything!, and the dentist categorically said she only had 2 teeth left to come through.
So tomorrow I will count them and add 2, then we'll all know.
Or we could google it of course Grin

Ekka · 01/02/2011 14:51

I think its 20 teeth they should have (well pretty sure thats how many dd has) so M still has another 4 to get. But if he's like dd he'll be 3 before they arrive!

KSal · 01/02/2011 14:59

Emma's last tooth is on the way through at the moment. I am hoping this will put an end to the dribbling Hmm

I though she was all done with one set of molars and was perplexed by the dribble continuing... then i was rather surprised to find she had another set on the way through. doh

Am having a bit of a mare with sleep still (its just gettig worse) and am being a horrible shouty mum with Emma as i'm so tired. Its quite depressed (getting very tearful) as i cannot see a way through it.

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/02/2011 22:07

Ah KSal - can relate to being a horrid shouty mum. Just take things one day at a time and go easy on yourself. Let cbeebies be your friend :). Are you getting out and about enough for a change of scene/company during the daytime? Is Emma with you all the time now, or is she still in nursery? Does he sleep in the daytime and it's just nights that are the problem, or is he a bad sleeper all round? Can you talk us through a typical day/night for him, and let us know what you've tried already, so that we can see what suggestions we can come up with?

ekka - this was the stuff I meant to link to last week. I don't think it's all that, but I have the option of swedish glace, which I like. If I couldn't have soya then I might be more amenable to this. They do a strawberry and a chocolate version too, but I haven't tried those.

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/02/2011 22:07

and how are the sick folk today?
