Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi all, I am in lot of pain today, I've tried to do too much and my stitches are a lot more painful. Doc prescribed me co-codamol as paracetomol doing nothing, just taken first one and will alternate with paracetomol as dont want to be constipated. Had first midwife visit today, found out that (don't read this bit if you
don't want TMI) that the labial tear is 4cm long (faints) and the other tear is perineal 1st degree but only very small Hmm. I'm really struggling to walk and sit down. DH is going to take Pops out for the day tmrw so I can have a duvet day with DS.

Had 2 hrs + 4 hours straight sleep now in total since before the birth so I'm running on empty and I know it's gonna be another marathon tonight before the milk properly comes in.

Managed to upset poppy because just can't give her enough attention on account of not being able to move etc. I know it's only day 3 and I'm being too hard on myself but I was so determined not to make it a major trauma for her

I could zoom in easier on my iPhone. I love them all :)

Pistachio your post to hmm made me cry! In a good way, though :)

Csws thank you so much for changing your profile pic Grin not exaggerating - I totally lost my appetite for all good/drink twice when looking quickly at fb before a meal and saw that pic Blush
good way to lose weight, I suppose!

HMM, enjoy your duvet day with DS tomorrow and take it easy. I can remember not being able to sit after Q was born. Even some laying down positions were impossible. Co codemol can make you feel ill sometimes... So be careful. I guess it's hard to find one that can be taken while bf, though. I hope you get some sleep tonight. X

Thanks folks, that was a lovely post Pistachio, especially re the LOs holding hands Smile I did finally cry last night when I realised I didn't have enough hot water for a bath, stood in bathroom and sobbed for couple of minutes Blush then got a grip and ran the shower into the bath instead Wink Definitely glad day 3 is over!!

I took DS to out of hours surgery in local hospital
this morning- his nappies not been very wet and found spot of blood this morning. Doc said was mini period cos of ostrogen, I thought that was just girls and google just now seems to confirm this, but google showed it probably uric acid? Happened again just now but his nappy was pretty wet this time.
Nearly killed me getting in and out of car anyway!!

Have had a nice duvet afternoon anyhow Smile Pops and DH have just returned with a Chinese takeaway.

Honeymoonmummy · 26/03/2011 17:52

Oh I forgot the best bit, DS slept through from 11pm to 7.30 am other than feeding for an hour between 4 and 5!!!!! Shock Pops was still sleeping about an hour at a time at this point, it's all very weird!!

Honeymoonmummy · 26/03/2011 23:38

Forgot to say Pistachio, wonderful photos, I cant choose either I'm afraid from only looking at them on phone.

Honeymoonmummy · 26/03/2011 23:41

Also forgot to say, have been emailed by a friend who knows a lady starting a newborn photography business who is offering free sessions so she can build up her portfolio so she's coming on Weds. Just hope
I can sit down by then Hmm We will get CD of photos she takes at no charge!

HMM - We had exactly the same blood-in-the-nappy-thing with ds. It was just as we got him home from hospital and I was completely freaked out, thinking we were going to have to turn around and go straight back to the hospital. I posted on here actually and got some really reassuring replies as apparently it's quite normal. Very scary though. Well done for making it through day 3. I really hope the tear heals quickly.

Pistachio - I think all the pics are really lovely. I particularly like the two of both of them on the bench, I3460d53 of ds, and 3460d25 or 3460d26 of dd. It must be really hard to choose.

I've had a lovely weekend with no school work at all, which felt fantastic and made a lovely change. I'm trying to get child care organised for later in the week as I reckon I'll probably have to go into hospital and get this damn miscarriage sorted out for once and for all. Nothing's come away since my last check-up and I'm feeling desperate to draw a line under it all now, so I'm going to see which approach they recommend. Neither option sounds particularly appealing as the risks with an ERPC are increased second time around and apprently the pills make it really painful.

I've decided to sell all my maternity clothes on Ebay as well. They're taking up too much space and I just need them out of the house. I've decided to focus elsewhere and am going to apply to do some modules towards an MA, which is something I've been thinking about for a while and I've not got around to.

I really hope everyone else is OK.

Sorry about the me, me, me post.

StarExpat · 27/03/2011 20:37

Hmm we also had blood with wee in nappy. It is quite scary but also common. I hope all is well with you today :)

Cf what are you going to study toward for your MA? Mine is in literacy education&leadership. I also did a short post grad practical course to follow psychology degree on play therapy. I loved that!

Where has 50ft gone? I've seen her and posted on her status(es) on
fb... I wonder if I said/wrote/did something wrong? Confused

It's not a full MA. My union has got some funding so that members who fulfil certain criteria can take two MA modules for £100. These modules, combined with the ones I got for my PGCE, could then be combined so that when I want to do the whole thing I may only have to write a dissertation or something. I quite like the idea of just doing part of it now rather than committing to the whole thing, and with university costs being so high now, it seems like quite a good deal.

The two modules on offer are about Mentoring and Coaching and Critical Enquiry, which is basically about research methodology, with particular focus on carrying out research projects on children in an ethical manner. Apparently there may be the option of changing the modules but I could see both of these being quite useful for my professional development so I might stick with them.

Honeymoonmummy · 27/03/2011 22:51

Study offer sounds good CF. I hope you do soon get things sorted once and for all. Good to 'see' a few of you today, I was starting to get paranoid Grin

I'm not going to rant on about myself tonight, suffice to say I'm sick of being practically bedbound and DH is exhausted from doing everything, Pops played up then cried like she was heartbroken when we left her tonight, low day all in all.

pepperrabbit · 28/03/2011 11:13

Morning all
HMM, have the midwives checke dyou out to make sure you're recovering as quickly as you shoul dbe?? sounds painful. Lovely pic on fb though! Smile.
Hope today is a bit brighter, is DH still home? 2 adults on their knees through childcare much better that 1! Have you reached competetive tiredness yet? Poor Pops, all normal, but heartbreaking none the less. (furtive )
CF, glad you have a plan, certainly sound flexible and a good way to get you where you want to be while having a life as well. Sorry that you'll have to get more intervention to get you sorted out again, have you got an appt or just know that you'll have to go at some point this week?
Waves to everyone else!
Off to a slow start today, that lost hour made my morning quite crippling with everyone asleep and whingy...

StarExpat · 28/03/2011 11:27

Q didn't seem to notice the time change Confused. He just got up at the same time as usual on Sunday (so, an hour earlier, but adjusted time the same iyswim) had a nap from 1pm-4pm then went to bed at 7pm last night and I had to wake him up for the day at 6.45am so he had time to eat breakfast, get dressed and have a little play before we had to be out the door at 7.25am.

I've been fretting over how much sleep he seems to require now, but when I think back... maybe he's just exhausted from all that time for the best part of the first 2 years that he was up multiple times in the night! Now he only wakes once and that is to get out of his bed and come to ours (or whimper in his bed until I get up and get him Wink ).

I'm thinking of putting him in preschool mornings and cm in the afternoon (for lunch his nap, then about 20 minutes play until I come get him from work at 3.45) starting January 2012 and once per week from September 2012 (to secure a place for free funded spot come January 2012). My cm can't take part time kids so my childcare bill will not reduce, but it will probably be best for Q. Childcare is so expensive. I'll be bringing him to preschool in the morning - possibly collecting him and bringing him to cm, too, so she would only have him 12.30-3.45. £40 for 3.5 hours is quite steep when you really think about it. I may have to explore my options a bit more.

It's frustrating that you can't get some sort of discount as it's only for half the time Star. But you probably don't want to have to find another CM and do the whole settling thing again.

Star - Is the preschool based at your school, or is it a different place that you've found locally? S's nursery have said that it would be cheaper for us to pay for full time but term-time only once S gets his free hours - they offer wraparound care so we just pay the balance IYSWIM. That's not an option for you is it? (We currently pay part-time but all year round as you can't go term time only unless you're full time.)

Pepper - I've got an appointment on Wednesday and I'm assuming that they will want to discuss my options then as nothing's developed since 2 weeks ago. I'm going to push for some kind of treatment as just waiting is really doing me in.

StarExpat · 28/03/2011 20:49

No, he won't attend my school until august 2012 (next year). My school doesn't offer full days until preK (age 4, but Q will start at nearly 4 as he's Oct).
I'm tempted to just send him to nursery with preschool as would be cheaper from sept but dh isn't keen for Q to leave where he is comfortable.

Honeymoonmummy · 28/03/2011 22:17

Hi all, much better day today and I even managed to sit down twice! I have midwife appt tomorrow so she'll check the stitches which I'm kind of dreading but best know if something has gone wrong - I had no probs sitting in hospital.

CF good luck with your hosp appt on weds, and obviously let us know how you got on.

Coconutfeet · 29/03/2011 06:34

Ouch - Good luck HMM. I really hope those stitches are healing for you.

Star - I know what your dh means about not wanting to move Q as he's really happy there. It's a tricky one isn't it. I would have said the same, but as our CM moved away we were forced into choosing somewhere else. If you get the right place, I think nursery can be fantastic at this age as there's so much for the children to do. S does a really long day at his nursery but still often asks if he can stay when I come an collect him, because he's having such a good time.

Quite possibly we've gone mad, but we've booked a weekend away camping with some friends at the end of April. I think I need to stock up on thermals just in case.
