Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Honeymoonmummy · 23/03/2011 12:31

He was indeed out by 10 Star, well done! Had few incredibly mild tightenings from 11 ish, my waters went at 1, 10 mins later they were 3-5 mins apart really strong lasting 30 secs at first. Got to hosp at about 2 ish was 6-7 cm dilated, he settings quarter to 4!!!!! Bit of pethediine, found tens boost more effective than gas and air Hmm, was on my knees leaning over top of bed throughout, on hands and knees in back of car with head down between seat and door! That was a baaaad car journey, he took the route with speed bumps!!! Paul was wonderful, I got nothing but flannel out of bag and bp was fine, normal blood loss, some stitches but ok. I am so fantastically chuffed with myself!! Will post this one before I lose it!

Honeymoonmummy · 23/03/2011 12:38

That should be he was born at quarter to 4!

He is Beautiful. He looks sooo much like Poppy. I can't tell u name yet as grandparents don't know till they all come in together at 2 (DHs idea!) so will put announcement on FB once they gone. He was 8lb 5, absolutely fine, will be in until tmrw morning just cos of strep
B, we only had time for one dose of ABs.

Did I mention how beautiful he is? I'm up and about, no
Catheter and bedbound this time. I am Superwoman Grin

Midwife was great and I stayed calm throughout. SmileSmile in fact i made more of a fuss about the stitches than the labour! Hate needles!

Honeymoonmummy · 23/03/2011 12:40

Sorry that's not bedbound and no catheter - they were considering it cos I've torn up labia to urethra? (sorry Star!)

Honeymoonmummy · 23/03/2011 12:42

Getting emotional now for first time [heartless
Emoticon] so happy Smile

Honeymoonmummy · 23/03/2011 12:47

Oh and he is feeding ok, he's very sleepy but just had over an hour on the boob. And he is sooo different from Pops in that he just doesn't cry so tentative fingers crossed that maybe we have escaped the curse of reflux!

awww big congratulations to you, HMM! :) Well done! Sounds like it was just perfect. Has Poppy met him yet? I'm so happy for you. I cried reading your posts Blush

KSal · 23/03/2011 15:07

Huge congratulations HMM! Well done!

StarExpat · 23/03/2011 19:37

How did you do labour in 3 hours with pethadine? When I had that it knocked me out to barely awake but VERY sleepy for a few hours. Maybe that wasn't pethadine that they gave me....
Cute name and it matches well with his sister :) I have a friend with a nearly 1 year old DS with that name and he is very sweet!

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/03/2011 20:09

Wonderful news hmm. And great name. One we considered for D, and the name of dh's best friend (lives in Oz).

Coconutfeet · 23/03/2011 20:17

Just seen the announcement on fb. I love that name too.

Honeymoonmummy · 23/03/2011 20:28

Thanks guys and thank you all for your support esp in recent weeks x

I'm in such a 'different place' from the aftermath last time. Apologies for the mass posting, I wanted to record it all while I remembered it! Pethedine didn't really knock me out this time Star, was weird, but it did stop me feeling urge to push I think. Who knows, it could have been even faster! Grin I have to stay in till the morning for the strep b monitoring, I absolutely can't wait to see Poppy.

Am going to try to wake him now for a feed then hopefully I'll then feel able to sleep! Still on adrenaline high!

xxx

Honeymoonmummy · 24/03/2011 06:04

DSs (Smile) strep B obs now complete and he is fine, we will be able to go home subject to hospital admin this morning, they said he will no longer be subject to any effects of the pethedine but is still an unbelievably chilled out sleepy dude, I can't rouse him to feed him!!

Any thoughts about best way to intro him to Poppy? She's at her grandparents has been there overnight, so we could get grandparents to bring her in and have him in lounge in Moses with his present for her; or get her in then bring him to the door (pref not carried by me or DH I think) Any thoughts?

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/03/2011 07:02

Spot on re not holding ds when you intro him to poppy. We had ds1 in Moses basket in same room as present ( big dolls' house) and I walked into the room holding Dd. Mentioned that her new brother was here - she peered over shoulder at him. Mentioned he'd brought her a present and pointed it out - she wriggled out of my arms to go play with it! So don't be surprised if pops seems underwhelmed at first.

Honeymoonmummy · 24/03/2011 07:57

Ha ha! That sounds perfect CSWS, esp re holding her, I hadn't thought of that. We've got her a baby that cries and an ELC baby accessory set - buggy, Moses etc, so poor DS probably won't get a look in! Wink All Pops has been saying all week is 'Baba Diwan coming soon and bringing present' HmmGrin

Oh let us know how it goes - introducing Poppy to DS. What fun! :)

Honeymoonmummy · 24/03/2011 09:17

Thanks Pistachio, he is so opposite to the way Poppy was that I was wondering that myself. Pops barely slept and was constantly crying, which of course later proved to be reflux (and probably also the forceps delivery).

Honeymoonmummy · 24/03/2011 10:15

Didn't expect the BF latch to hurt this time round [naive] Hmm

ronshar · 24/03/2011 11:32

Yipee. Congratulations HMM.
Now that is how you deliver a babyGrin
I would second the you not holding baby. Have DS in the room but you bring P into see him. Or maybe have P at home ready for you to come home. That way she gets to welcome her new brother to the house.

Either way it will be in a few weeks when P will not do anything you ask her to do and she might get fussy with her food and probably not be happy with you feeding DS. Those are the things that will cause trouble for you all. But lots of extra love and hugs for P and it will pass.
Ps breast feeding hurts no matter how many children you have Wink

Honeymoonmummy · 24/03/2011 21:51

Thanks ronshar.. I am typing one handed as DS is bf while holding my thumb Smile went well with pops, so glad to b home, checked hosp notes and birth actually 3.30 so just the 2.5 hours start to finish then (DH was a little hazy) Shock

Ekka · 25/03/2011 06:42

Congratulations hmm!!! Sounds as if everything went much better this time. Love the name too...

either 3460d35 or 3460d26 of B. is there no way to blow them up to look at better? I can't see the facial expressions properly on some of those that I otherwise like of T.
