Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Mmmm Mexican tapas Smile Am off for a long hot bath in the hope it starts something, then an early night. Am feeling very chilled out about it all (apart from the obvious impatience re when is it going to start!!)

Star - Grin at "poor willy placement".

StarExpat · 19/03/2011 21:07

When someone British says a child is sitting "on my knee" do they mean on their lap or quite literally on their knee (like where the knee is, so on the edge of their lap, really...) just wondering as I always think the latter when I hear it but read stuff on here and now I think that just can't be right?

:) thanks!

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/03/2011 22:57

Knee to me would mean on one leg rather than on both. Or both I suppose, but with me not sitting back, but rather leaning forward, so he was only just above knee, rather than more thigh-ward .

Mum is coming again now :rolls eyes:.

Poor D threw up this afternoon, just before we pulled into the soft play car park, 25 mins from home. Dd and I popped in for one minute just to look at it (is new one) and then we turned around and drove back again! Hopefully we won't have as much washing as you Ekka.

Sickness at the moment just makes me think of poor Edgar and what she must be going through :( (am assuming that some of you have seen the thread).

Coconutfeet · 19/03/2011 23:05

I read it this morning CSWS. I just sat at the kitchen table in tears. I've been thinking about it on and off all day. Poor family. I can't imagine what they're going through right now. Sad

Hope all the sickies are better soon.

Must go to bed.

StarExpat · 19/03/2011 23:16

I read that, too :( awful. I cannot even imagine the pain :( How quickly things can go downhill so fast. It's frightening. It seems like he came so close to getting it all removed, too. Poor Edgar :(

Knee expression is not even important (especially considering the above) just read a cm on a thread talking about a child being on their knee all day and I thought that can't mean literally on her knee... Maybe it's an expression for lap. Because when I read it, all I could think of was, well, put him on your lap, then!

Ekka · 20/03/2011 03:25

See I would always say 'sit on my knee' meaning lap, no idea why really Smile

CSWS, I read that thread and was so upset for them. It is frightening how fragile life can be sometimes.

Of course I'd read it just before M began to be sick so totally freaked myself out about ill children. He is still not able to keep anything down, hence me being online now, but at least his temp is down. Hope that you don't have too rough a time with D....

StarExpat · 20/03/2011 07:49

I know what you mean. Q fell off our bed last night - threw himself over and ended up on hard floor :( I'm still worried as he's still asleep.

How is Mthis morning, Ekka?

Ekka · 20/03/2011 08:22

Well, he is up and not being sick (yet) but v droopy (prob lack of food) but not keen to eat as I would guess he's worried about being sick. He's had some oatmilk and half a Nairns oatcake biscuit....

Poor Q, they do tend to bounce at this age luckily, but I know its worrying.

Hi all, no news yet, bit achey today and bit more discharge. I'm trying to steer clear of upsetting threads at moment, someone on March 11 thread preview was expressing sorrow at something so I daren't go back on that to see what happened. [coward]

Have been walking round town this morning, knackered now and just put Pops down so few hours kip for me.

pepperrabbit · 20/03/2011 14:57

Hope the sicky ones are better today, HMM you are wise to avoid the thread if you can't take sad stuff at the mo. Hope it all starts going for you soon.
We have my neice's 5th Birthday party to go to in a mo, it's a disco - I have a tutu/sparkly top for DD to wear Grin. Lots of fun dressing her after 2 DSs - I can see the indulgent smiles on the other mummies faces Blush but I'm sure she'll hate girly stuff soon enough so I'm making the most of her pink obsession! Also Cousin Keira is her absolute idol, being an older more mature girl.
Sadly as DS1 has Absolutely Refused to consume any lunch - he only eats dry food and it was spag bol - I'd given him a jacket potato instead of pasta and just the carrot bits from the bolognese, but he won't even try it. So DH has declared he can have no party food AT ALL Hmm.
I predict a slightly stressful afternoon.
DS2 is obviuosly wearing shorts, ideal to show off his scabby, muddy knees....
Hope you pregnant ladies are having a restful day and CSWS is taking it easy too!

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/03/2011 16:15

hmm - just checked your march thread for you. If you haven't been on it since Wedns then stay away. If you've seen posts since then then there's no further bad news on it.

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/03/2011 16:17

Oh and no more sickness since yest afternoon for DES, but horrible nappies, so obv a little d&v bug.

Honeymoonmummy · 20/03/2011 18:54

Thanks so much for that CSWS. I think that's what I'm trying to avoid, is it Tooimmature? I haven't read it, just saw her name by other posters. Pretty obvious what must have happened and my imagination is probably as bad as reality but I'd rather not go there just now.

I have been so frustrated this afternoon, didnt get any sleep after all, this waiting is really getting to me. I know I should be patient esp given what others are possibly going through (as above) but I am just quite down today about it. I just want to get the labour underway now, I know I'll probably regret saying that! Pops in nursery tomorrow and I haven't planned to do anything which is a bad move cos if I'm bored I'll be frustrated again, dunno what to do with myself.

I loved your FB pics CSWS Smile

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/03/2011 20:56

That's the one hmm.
How about you spend tomorrow sorting stuff to put on ebay. Or tidying up your phone book in your mobile phone. Or organising your documents on your computer. And having a nice long soak in the bath with a sudoku puzzle (I did that a lot when heavily pg with dd). Or going for a nice long walk. Or sorting out some 'lists' on Ocado (or whoever you use) to make life easier post birth.

Ekka · 20/03/2011 21:38

Hmm, hope that things get moving for you soon.

CSWS, glad to hear D wasn't sick again, though the nappies don't sound fun.

Pepper, I hope that the party went ok - it is nice being able to dress up little girls, there just doesnt' seem to be as much nice smart stuff for boys.

Well, ds ate a fruit bar and 3 pieces of pasta today, but he did seem slightly brighter this evening, though his nappies are now awful and he is v upset about them poor lad. Got to go as he's just woken up.....

StarExpat · 20/03/2011 21:49

Poor M ekka :( I hope he gets a good night of sleep.

Ok 10am tomorrow for HMM Grin

Honeymoonmummy · 20/03/2011 22:51

I very much doubt it Star! Grin

Apologies for the pity party earlier folks, have cheered up now, nothing I can do about it so I'm just going to take each day as it comes. I'm just an impatient person and a control freak and neither lend themselves well to being overdue! Pops started coming at 40+5 which is tomorrow so fingers crossed (again)

StarExpat · 21/03/2011 09:23

Oh dear. Well, at least you're ready for him. I guess that's a positive way of looking at it :)

When Q came at 38 weeks, I was just Shock and not at all ready. Of course, things all come together and I decided that I would welcome him to the world anyway Grin
I hope things get started for you soon, HMM.

How are M and D today?

We had a very full weekend. We went to the farm park on Saturday morning and then again after nap time, then to the playground until past 6. Sunday we went to chessington (passholder open day) and then to a friend's house for dinner after nap until past 7. So he went to bed late and we had to wake him at 6.45 so he would have time for breakfast and a cuddle before we had to leave at 7.30.
I think he had a headache from the fall yesterday but I didn't dare give calpol because I know they don't advise it after they hit their heads hard?

I think he's ok... still alive, no vomiting or fluid out of his ears or nose...etc. But he was definitely not himself on Sunday the day after. It could be because I kept waking him every couple of hours to see if he could be roused as he fell straight to sleep after the fall... I don't know. But he was really dozy and not his normal self. I'm rambling but I always worry about this stuff. He really threw himself over (thinking he'd just go onto his tummy on the bed) and fell right to the ground, knocking his head again on the bed rail on the way down. It was a very loud thud. ugh. I am a terrible mother!

Well M is now not being sick and is eating, so that is good! However he is doing revolting nappies so I hope it clears up properly soon.... He is also shattered bless him. Has had one long nap this morning (from about 9 till 12) and is half asleep on the sofa watching tv now as he's not up to anything really.

Luckily no-one else seems to have come down with anything yet. I'm hoping that I don't as I have just booked a hotel in London for my 2 day accountancy training course and am v excited about having an undisturbed nights sleep Grin. I know technically I could commute both days, but dh is treating me to the hotel as I've not had a night away from the kids since dd was about 14 months and no undisturbed nights since M was born. Can't wait!!!
