it appears I posted the last post... so here's a new thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

That's a good point actually myjob. Would you or anyone else like some of dd's old knickers? It seems a waste to throw them away but the boys obv won't be using them!

Ekka · 16/03/2011 14:14

Myjob - my sil used her ds' pants until her dd was trained as she didn't see the point in getting new ones and at that age they don't know anyway!

Dd funnily enough is totally reliable at night but during the day just refuses to go until right at the last minute which means that if she gets distracted they we get damp pants. Mind you, we have very few full accidents, more damp spots, so I shouldn't really complain too much I suppose!

Hmm, hope that baby is on its way now!

StarExpat · 16/03/2011 18:40

Q had some trainer pants handed down and the little boy has sisters. Q has worn some pink underpants Blush. we also got him some pirate ones :)

Ekka · 16/03/2011 18:49

Grin Well I got my comeuppance for saying that dd has v few accidents. About 5 mins after that post she woke from a nap and I heard her running about upstairs and went up to find that instead of taking herself to the toilet as usual, she was looking for me to take her and proceeded to have a HUGE accident - don't think we've had one like that since we started potty training!!!!!!!!! That'll teach me.

Star, M will be wearing some pink training pants too, Fifi ones!!! But I have ordered some Thomas ones as well.....

Pistachio - Are you watching Masterchef? Yotam Ottolenghi's on there and they've been making recipes from that Plenty cookbook.

CantSleepWontSleep · 16/03/2011 21:37

Oh yes a pant swap sounds like a fab idea myjob. Will have to have a rummage and make sure that I can find them now! Will go through the boxes that dh got down from the loft tomorrow, and if they aren't in there then I'll send him up again in search of them over the weekend. I wouldn't bother with the 18-24 for us though - ds is a big boy so very unlikely to fit, but the 2-3 and 3-4 would be great.

How is the bleeding today cf?

Bleeding has calmed down a lot today thanks CSWS. I had another appointment at the hospital and unfortunately it still hasn't all come away, so I think there'll be more to come. They've decided against doing another ERPC as apparently it's riskier the second time round and it's better for the body if it comes away naturally (I would prefer that too, however unpleasant it is). So it's just a waiting game really. I'm back at work now too.

How are you doing CSWS? Do you feel like you're getting better? ALso, how's the sleep situation??

Congrats pistachio :) I'm sure it was great!

Q pulled down his own trousers today! The potty at cm's is next to an alphabet chart so he asks a lot of questions when he's on it. I'm stunned by the letters and sounds he can recognise already. He is always pointing to individual letters in words in books and asking for the letter/sound and then the whole word. It was tedious before but now I'm amazed that he's absorbing it. I love watching literacy development. There is little more exciting in the world to me. And not just with my own child (hence career choice!)

Cf I hope you're doing better today. You've really been through it lately :( clever of S to remove his nappy!! Q has never even thought of it. After a sleep he'll ask us to take it off.

Csws how are you feeling today? Are dc adjusting ok to you not being able to lift them?

Lol Ekka we had one like that at the top of a huge Aguilar structure. Worse, it took a few tries to get kids to stop going that way and just splashing on through it without a care! I had to get him down all wet through tunnels...etc (removed trousers) and get someone up there to clean with anti bac. I was mortified.

StarExpat · 17/03/2011 22:20

Aguilar??? Softplay!!! Haha!

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/03/2011 22:32

I made the pineapple and coconut ice cream today cf. I wouldn't bother with it if I had the option of dairy ice cream, but it was nice to be able to have something with a bit of a different flavour from my normal options. I think I might be tempted to experiment with coconut cream rather than milk, and a little less oil. I used sunflower rather than veg oil - should that make much diff to the flavour? I could get a hint of oil at the end of a mouthful, but neither of my parents could notice it, even when I mentioned it.

Sleep still not too bad, although he's woken rather early for his first night feed the last couple of nights.

I did pick J up yesterday (mum was taking too long to come down from reading to P, and J needed bed) and held him for a couple of mins. Felt ok at the time, but could tell I'd done it this morning.
Bit nervous about next week really, as will be on own, so lots of lifting to do, which I think might get a bit much, but not a lot of alternative options really.

star - I was struggling to pronounce the dinosaurs you mentioned on fb earlier, so kudos to Q if he can!

Hi all, still here, still preggers. 40+2 today, apparently the avg for second child is 40+3 and I have a sweep this afternoon so fingers crossed something will happen this weekend! Pops started coming at 40+5 so it appears I just cook them for a bit longer... Ho hum, I'm trying to stay patient calm and occupied!

CF good to hear the bleeding has slowed down but poo that there's still more to come Sad

StarExpat · 18/03/2011 10:11

He says them with a toddler "accent" of course Wink DH has an intense interest in dinosaurs as well and Q's favourite book at the moment is a DK Dinosaur Encyclopedia so he spends a lot of time pouring over that with DH, asking him to name each dinosaur and what it eats, looking to see if it has plates...etc, etc. Good thing DH is so interested. I don't know what most of them are!

csws are there any other people who can help? Could you hire someone to come help (temp nanny?)

HMM I saw your name and was hoping it was news of a baby! It will happen soon :)

Honeymoonmummy · 18/03/2011 10:24

Well it has to happen by a week on Weds!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/03/2011 10:27

my mum is going to come back next week, but without dad (except to drive her here as she doesn't drive), so I will have to do the driving, which should be ok, but she will do the lifting.

StarExpat · 18/03/2011 11:24

How will you get the kids in the car to go and get her?

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/03/2011 11:28

dad is driving her here. i will be doing the driving during the week.

Coconutfeet · 18/03/2011 17:27

CSWS - I know exactly what you mean about not bothering with that dessert if you could have proper dairy ice cream. I seem to remember that the banana one was actually quite pleasant, rather than just tolerable (I made them ages ago when on a vegetarian/vegan cookery course. Haven't had a need to make them since). In my recipe it said sunflower oil and I've crossed it out and written "veg oil" intead. Can't remember why though, sorry. I agree that coconut cream could be good.

HMM- I hope the sweep has done the trick for you and you're in labour already!

Are you supposed to do bare bum before underpants? I just put Q in underpants. He's doing so well now but still needs reminding to go and often help pulling down trousers.

StarExpat · 18/03/2011 20:16

Glad you're mom will be there next week csws! That make more sense now. I thought getting them in the car would be tricky!

Hmm I hope you've had the baby. Not in labour... Had the baby! :)

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/03/2011 20:17

Oh yes will message you in a tick myjob. I'm afraid I haven't had any luck finding the knickers yet, which is odd, as I was sure I had a whole cardboard box full of them. Will keep on looking though - def have 1 more box to check before I need to nag dh to search loft again.

Unfortunately help for next week has fallen through, so I'm officially screwed, as dh refuses to stay here as he's needed in Greece. Even if I could find someone to help during the day I'd be screwed with the nights, as I'd have to get him up and back to bed for feeds. Bugger. Guess I have to just keep my fingers crossed that I don't do any long term damage.
