Arlo rolled today from his back to his front! and now he wont stop! everytime i put him down he's straining to roll over! and when you stand him up,he trys to take his weight and assumes he can walk!
he also slept for most of the night in the amby!!1st night not in my bed...

i missed him!Grin

Chelle1986 · 10/01/2011 20:48

Grin clumsy Olly has been thinking he can walk for a while now - he saves the biggest grins for when you stand him up on your knee's!

Oh I forgot to say - he giggled for the first time on xmas day and did it again for DP this morning who hadnt heard it yet! Olly has rolled front to back but is still stumped on the back to front! Not for want of trying though!

Woo hoo!

Now, let's see, what were we discussing? saiorse that does sound brave - we're definitely considering trying for a second, but not yet! Someone (on another thread? my mind is going) was saying they'd start trying when their LO was 1, which might work well for us.

Those of you commenting on my walks with Aphra - not so much a cultural or a bonding experience (as she goes to sleep very quickly) but it must be a good idea for her and for me to get fresh air, exercise, and to see new things (while she is awake that is!).

newmum, I know what you mean about the interrupted nights really affecting you if you've been used to them being less interrupted. Aphra was consistently waking just once in the night and she's now waking about three times - partly this is because we are trying to get her to bed earlier in the evening so she is now asleep by about 10 pm, but she does genuinely seem to be sleeping for less time at a stretch also.

Jessemy, we're thinking we're going to have to move this year too. Yikes, the expense! Can anyone remind me how the deposit works if you're selling your old house - do you have to have the 10% as cash in hand before the contracts are exchanged? Do you get it as an advance on the mortgage because otherwise you won't get the cash from the old house until completion, will you?

Aphra 18 + 5

So I wrote a mammoth post on the last thread & now no ones gonna read it! All go back & read it! Its very boring exciting!

|oes anyone else feel they spend too much time on here & facebook??!

Olly doesn't giggle as such, he kind of groans in a funny huuuuuuuu! kind of way!!

mellymooks · 10/01/2011 20:56

New Thread, crikey we do alot of chatting Wink

cinnamon I'm hesitant about bringing DD for selfish reasons really - such as I wouldn't actually get much chance to talk to anyone or enjoy the meet up, as she is very clingy when somewhere different with lots of people she doesn't know and also depending on how I get there the thought of potentially coming on train juggling her and Flynn in my sleep deprived state does not appeal!! Does this make me a bad Mum?!?

banana thanks! Am dreading it, will let you know how it goes....

patito · 10/01/2011 21:00

Thanks for pushchair stuff will get stuck into it later, am off to watch a bit of telly now. A rare luxury as i dont actually have TV at home (Blush - through choice mind you Confused), so have borrowed some DVDs from a friend and am down for Desperate Housewives tonight not my normal tipple but it´ll do!

Oh just realised theres a new thread will copy and paste!

This always happens by the time Ive caught up, Maia wakes up, so i never get to finish on here! Reminds me of other moments Wink.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/01/2011 21:08

I just went back to check and I'd already read it bananastew so don't worry!

No it doesn't at all, mellymooks, I am blessed with a very good little man who is very independent so I'm happy to bring him. Not much point in a meet up if we can't chat to each other!

My hv told me that she has never seen a 6 week old as responsive to his mums voice as Luke was and she put that down to my sling so I'm sure it has some impact on bonding comixminx. The culture bit was slightly tongue in cheek!

comixminx · 10/01/2011 22:03

cinnamon, I can actually make a claim for culture when I think about it - I took some photos while I was out! here's one

Yes, it must help with bonding actually, even if she does fall asleep pretty quickly. After all it proves she's feeling safe and looked-after!

bellabelly · 10/01/2011 22:44

Just marking my place!

MammyG · 10/01/2011 23:29

Just marking my place too

watersprite · 10/01/2011 23:39

hi : ) well im getting married this September was suppose to be last September but fell pregnant. Anyway i already have my dress and was fitted before i was pregnant. I went down to the wedding shop to be fitting for the first time after having Maria-Ann and im so glad i still fit in it : ) it all seems so real again. Cant wait to get Maria-Ann a bridesmaid outfit, my two girls will look stunning : )

Dixiebell · 11/01/2011 03:13

cinnamon, your video also inspired me to try and recreate it with Arlo. Usually I bath him in a baby bath, but he's getting quite big for it, often kicks his legs out which causes his head to hit the side Hmm. thought he might like the opp to splash around in the big bath, but think he found it a bit weird. Do you put anything under his head to make it more comfortable?

Dixiebell · 11/01/2011 05:12

Arlo up again. He seems to have decided in the last few days that 5am is his getting up time Hmm. he didn't cry for food, just lay in his cot blowing raspberries and gurgling. I guess this us the point where you start thinking how nice it would be to move him into his own room..!

bananastew · 11/01/2011 08:19

Dixie, you can get foam bath supports. Never had one personally so I can't comment on them. He maybe did find it a bit wierd 1st time but I'd keep trying. Olly looks like Luke in his. He swims from 1 end to the other! We're taking him swimming this weekend. Bet he'll not be quite so keen on that!

JodeyLea · 11/01/2011 08:41

Harlyn loved his first swimming lesson. It was great as they showed us so many holding positio. And also how to safely get them in and out the pool even if you're on your own.

chelle in the last thread u asked how much our lo are drinking. Harlyn will take at least 5 full 7/8 ounce bottles and will also have a 2/3 ounce extra if he's hungry. He tends to feed every 3-4 hours. 3 if he's had no naps and I can stretch it to 4 if he sleeps. He back to sleeping brought the night (am I tempting fate here) so has all his milk between 7am and 10:30pm.
Last week I did try him on babyrice which he ate but didn't really like too much ad it is very bland so I thought that I would mix a tiny bit of banana with it yesterday to make it more appealing. Harlyn lapped it up like a greedy monkey. However, he seemed more unsettled and fussy in the evening and I'm
convinced it must have been the banana even though it was a tiny amount. so I'm reverting back to just milk for at least a few more weeks as I don't want his colic to come back. Trial and error I suppose and it didn't make his reflux any better either. Although he loved it, his digestive system is not ready for it.

14 weeks & 4 days

Chelle1986 · 11/01/2011 09:11

jodey - cheers for that.

My god - just catching up on one born every minute!! That second woman!!! Oh my christ the noise! If I had been on that ward I would have been shitting myself. So glad I didn't see that one before I gave birth! Lucky mine was nothing like that! DP would have peed his pants!

cinnamongreyhound · 11/01/2011 09:38

Luke is happy just in the bath with nothing, I do use a baby bath but if ds1 is in the bath I just chuck Luke in too so he's been going in the big bath since he was a few weeks old. We had one of these with ds1 but he hated it :( so just laid him in bath. When he was bigger we had these splats to stop him slipping which might make Arlo's head a bit more comfortable or a similar mat, mothercare have loads of different bits. I bathe him in the morning, so he's much more alert and awake so enjoys it more I think. We always shower or bathe in the morning so it made sense to me to do the same with the children, although I think I am the only parent I know who does it that way around!

We're going swimmning this weekend too bananastew, we first took ds1 when he was 5 weeks old but he was an april baby so it was nowhere near as cold outside! I don't want to leave it much longer or I'm worried he'll be afraid of all the noise and other people.

cinnamongreyhound · 11/01/2011 09:42

Sorry JodeyLea missed your post. I personally don't think banana is a great first weaning food as it easily causes constipation. I was advised with ds1 not to start with the really sweet ones of they won't take more savory things later. He hated baby rice so I moved to carrot which he loves, then had butternut squash and sweet potato followed by pear and then slowly introduced lots of other fruit and veg but he didn't have banana until he was nearly one as I was worried about the constipation and I usually mixed it with his weetabix to conteract it [paranoid mother emoticon]!
