If you have a quiet night planned this amazing lady is finally in labour after her waters breaking whilst on holiday in America and having to spend 6 weeks in a US hospital on travel insurance being monitored. She's an inspiration.

Her original thread for background

120 · 09/02/2011 20:18

Thanks tea.. was about to go and make supper and here I still am on m'net an hour later. What an amazing thread!

GotArt · 09/02/2011 21:35

Tea DH wiped DD's face once with the dishcloth, much to my chagrin, and it gave her an instant face rash. Could be someone at daycare too though; I have very sensitive skin and have gotten rashes from trying on clothes at the store. It could be anything, and if you haven't really changed anything, it must be coming from outside the home. Just monitor it, keep it clean. If it gets worse, go to the doctor.

Teaandcakeplease · 10/02/2011 08:45

Do one of you clever ladies know a weblink for something I can download to help me outbid people on ebay without sitting at my pc all day? I want some clothing bundles for my DD. Any tips?

hackneyzoo · 10/02/2011 09:59

Tea, I think there's a thing called sniper
sniper or this one I have never got round to using either of them though.
How is your DD's rash today? Have you worked out what triggered it?

Wow at earthquake GA Shock

Brain like mush, am a bit exhausted between looking after Hebe and running round for my Pa. Took H to baby clinic yesterday and she is just under 10lb, so gaining weight. We saw GP as she is sick and has hiccups after each feed. She is also in quite a bit of discomfort at times. GP thought reflux and has prescribed gaviscon...which seems to make bugger all difference. So am just keeping her as upright as possible. She seems to be on a 3-4 hour feeding cycle which is good, and sleeps ok (with cot propped up on a pile of books!) its just getting her to sleep of an evening!

120 J and I are about tomorrow if you want to play. If its sunny was going to head for London fields or vic park

Morning everyone else...tree, moose, pat, lenni, missj, stripey, tink, Dog and most importantly happy birthday I the smiler!

Teaandcakeplease · 10/02/2011 11:43

Go back again to the GP HKZ, they can change it to ranitidine to see if that's better. I think DOG found gaviscon didn't work for J thinking back x

Thanks for the tips.

GotArt · 10/02/2011 16:24

Tea Thanks for the flapjack recipe!

DD and I both have sore throats and DD has an awful sounding cough. Bloody playground, Wink Pumping up the echinachia and oranges and green tea. She recovers from these pretty fast, luckily.

Going for a swim today with the Mama's and kiddies. Should be fun; usually its just me and V.

Have a great rest of your day/evening. Grin

treedelivery · 10/02/2011 20:42

Glad you are ok after accident GotArt.

How is your dad HKZ? Have you heard about xrays for J, or will that be a while?

Hope you had a lovely day with smiler DOG

How's the rash Tea?

No actual news. Had to pick dd1 up from school 30 mins into teaching, so I have made a bad impression I think. I couldn't find a replacement so I just left Blush What could I do though? I left message with leader person, got dd, and then went back to make sure they were sorted.
SHe has granted them a week extension on assessment as I was supposed to be offering draft feedback in the lesson - so the students are Grin
DD was ok, feeling sick, unable to eat and generally miserable. Fecking movicol & constipation Angry She was a bit incontinent on way home Sad

DD2 is just bonkers at the mo. SHe won't allow dd1 to even look at her, which breaks dd1's heart as she is a right softee. SHe thunders about changing her wellies every 10 mins. She has 3 pairs and throws tantrums in shops until you buy them. Tell ya. A wild one.
Her appetite has arrived improved. She ate 'doodle-loos' [noodles] 'ollies' [eggs] and wheatabix today. And some grapes. Am loving the eating child thang!

I'm busy, had an amazing time visiting Goddaughter, who is just lovely. So chatty and friendly, really into doing stuff and playing. I met the egg!!! Imagine! SHe is the happiest most laid back litle girl, about to begin weaning and generally impressing the socks off her parents. Her mum looks on cloud nine.

Awww. Happy thought x

missjackson · 10/02/2011 20:57

Wow tree, you met the egg?!?! Was it at all strange? Or just heavenly to see her so healthy and happy. Once again I am in awe of what you did... I remember what you had to go through, those train journeys and the hormones and stopping bfing etc.

hkz sorry to hear your Pa is ill - you've got such a lot on your plate. Good that H is already going 3-4 hours though; can't wait to meet her, hopefully not too long, def when I am down next.. with my little one too! eek...

tea you MUST auctionsnipe, it's the only way. I don't know the difference between all the different ones, but it's the only way. Just bid your absolute max and then forget about it - it's really fair too, it's like sealed bids. You just have to be sure you wouldn't be gutted to lose out for the sake of £1 or 2...

gotart glad you're okay after accident - the shock is horrible, whatever happens. when is your due date? Have you/ will you find out boy/girl? Sorry if you already know and I missed it.

Baby still wrong way round - going for scan tomorrow to confirm.

OK, I am off to look at that thread now...

treedelivery · 10/02/2011 21:18

Not strange at all missJ. Just...lovely. I guess! I'm normally totally unmoved by babies, but this one did make my heart melt. I felt quite girly and giggly Smile

Her mum is amazing, all she went through and all the anticipation and expectation and pressure. Total water of a ducks back, no fuss, makes it seem easy and fun. Makes me wonder what I moan about really. She has all the same stuff a new baby brings plus all that 'baggage'. Yet isn't weighed down, just happy happy happy.

It's lovely. SmileSmileSmile

missjackson · 10/02/2011 21:21

OK ladies, I need your honesty and help... I'm going to ruin the surprise and get your thoughts...

So the girls name I've always loved (mostly because it's in a brilliant dylan song) is Isis. So she would be Isis Louise. (Louise after my sis) But OH really isn't sure. He thinks it is a bit north london and that everyone would know it was 'my' name, rather than ours, iyswim. So alternative and compromise is Carys (pron. carris), which is obviously Welsh and means love.

Isis Louise or
Carys Louise

????
I can't think straight about this anymore. I like them both. Is Isis too wacky? Is Carys too predictable? If I go for Carys, will I always regret not calling her Isis? The other day I was even considering Pixie ShockGrin... so you can see I need your help. Honestly, I don't mind what you say about the two names. Or maybe you have even better suggestion?

missjackson · 10/02/2011 21:24

x-posted with you tree. That's amazing, she sounds like a lovely lady. Does egg still have dark hair? Will you see much of her do you think? Do DDs have any idea (sorry, can't remember if you told DD1)? Sorry for all the questions, it's just fascinating (tv producer in me Blush)

treedelivery · 10/02/2011 21:31

GrinGrin

On the egg - will see as much as able. It's a fair hike over, and we don't get there as much as we'd like. They came to see me at my friends, so hopefully are as motivated to stay in touch as I am. My girls will know, I don't want any surprises when they are 18 or something daft! They plan on telling their girlie, I guess that may change, but then all her friends and relations will know...so it's almost a foregone conclusion in someways. They have sent me pics and videos. I'm very lucky and priviliged.
I'd like us to all be in each others radar, as it were. For my sake, and also for the children involved. As the dad said, more people looking out for you the better. Lovely positive way of seeing what is a really complicated, yet really straight forward situation.

On the names. I like Isis. Maybe dh could call her Izzy [like the Isabelle nickname] if dh really can't imagine it?
Love Cerys too, although there will be lots of mispronunciation to annoy you. Well, maybe not lots, but some for sure.
Does Isis have a meaning? Must do

missjackson · 10/02/2011 21:44

All sounds fab - what a lucky girl to have such loving people in her life - like her dad says.

Carys is a pretty normal name around here; is it v unusual in England do you think? And yes, Isis would end up Izzy anyway I'm sure. Isis was an egyptian goddess for all kinds of nice things but mostly nature and fertility. But she also did weird things like marry her brother.

GotArt · 10/02/2011 21:46

MissJ Isis is awesome name. Hmm thinking of running it by DH Grin Very strong name. Would you pronounce it 'I-sis' or 'I-sees'? Carys is beautiful, but as we don't tend to get too many Welsh names on this side of the pond, it was a completely new name to me. Sorry to hear she's still wrong way up. Too bad you can't just shift them around in there, little nudge here, a squeeze there. Grin Keep walking and being active is what my midwife said.

HKZ How's Pa? Better I hope.

Tree Lovely to hear about egg... funny about you being giddy. On a side note, was it you that posted the animation birthing link from Youtube a couple months back? I thought I bookmarked it, but can't find it now.

Tea News on the rash?

Went for an extra long swim today but then a kid, of about 8 actually, had an poo in the hot tub, so it got closed down before we had a chance to get in there for mommy time. Ah well. I understand little ones having an accident like that, but an 8 year old? It wasn't diarrhea, just a proper poo. Hmm

DD has been napping for about 20 minutes, then a cough, then a 'Mommy' to which I found her laying in a precarious position on her bed, probably due to her tantrum of not wanting to nap but falling asleep in the middle of the tantrum. Hilarious.

Getting car fixed tomorrow, toddler social, lunch then nap again. Yeah... I love planning my next day. Grin Ciao for now Ladies. Off to eat some fab chocolate that DH keeps bringing home from one of the foodies that come into the restaurant... its soooooooo gooooodddd.
(licky lips emoticon)

missjackson · 10/02/2011 21:54

Euggh at floater in the hot tub. We've had a few 'code browns' in our time, but like you say, you would think 8 would be old enough not to let it slip...

Pronounced 'eye-sis'. It is very 'strong' which I guess is why OH not sure.. And I don't want to land her with something too trendy and weird either.

Throw some chocolate my way... your DH has the best job Envy

GotArt · 10/02/2011 21:56

Oh ya... we aren't going to find out the sex because we have to pay for it now, Health BC citing finding out is costing too much money. Hmm A bit of a money grab really. The government hasn't actually put it through yet but it will be $50, but the Sonographer's Assc. has decided to stop telling people anyhow, and if you want it, you pay $80 for a 3d scan after 25 weeks. There is an incredible disproportionate amount of female fetus' being aborted in the last allowed week in BC too, which may have more to do with it some say. I think its just an excuse to get more money. I sat there during my last scan and had the sonographer telling me about how nurses and doctors come down everyday, some of them everyday themselves, to do scans and get pictures, blah blah blah. I'm all for workplace perks, but this is just taking the piss, especially if the Health BC is saying the system is hemorrhaging money and blaming women as the cause because they want to know the sex of the baby. Well, that's my bit for the day. Grin

GotArt · 10/02/2011 22:01

I can't help you MJ... both are just great names. DH likes Olivia, but when I hear the name, the theme song for that pig named Olivia enters my brain immediately. lol. Then he thought of Olive, but being a Chef and Italian, it sounded sort of funny to me. I'm at a loss for girls names; I keep saying them, but then they don't sound right or something. If it is a girl, I think she'll be named Sofia Laurel by default. Biscuit Henry Albert is our chosen boy name and neither is on the list of top 100 boy names in Canada.

treedelivery · 10/02/2011 22:06

DD1 [6] was incontinent on her way home from school just today. Poor thing. Sad

hackneyzoo · 10/02/2011 22:08

Tree how exciting to have met the egg . You sound amazingly clear and sorted when you talk about her. think u are pretty amazing Grin

miss j I really like both names. Isis is lovely and unusual. Definitely not pretentious enough to be north London Grin I worried that here had a north London tone to itt too! Cerys is beautiful and classic and unusual in England . you could wait and see if she looks more cerys or Isis. Dh and I did that with Hebe and my name won Grin Dh conceded in rather a sweet way saying I could call her what i liked as he was still in awe of me for giving birth to her. What is your official due date? Def looking forward to our next London meet up with the girls!

My dad is not great, all a bit touch and go . Has a bad chest infection which isn't shifting and is putting lots of stain on his heart. On top of that his legs seem to have given out and he can't get about, he is 6 foot 4 inches so not easy to lift. The drs are pretty dismissive as he is 85. The attitude to age in this country makes me so sad and angry. Anyway am trying. To spend as much time as poss with him and to make sure he takes it east. My brother and sister are on the case too so he has lots of support.

Right off to bed . Typing this on my phone is taking forever with my giant sausage fingers!

Poor DD. Sorry, didn't mean to sound horrible about 8 yo floater in the hot tub. I don't have any experience of that age group yet. I suppose it's just muscle control like anything else, which comes at different times, so maybe 8 isn't so strange after all not to have bowel control. The dangers of municipal hot tubs!

hackneyzoo · 10/02/2011 22:11

X posted with everyone cos it took me so long to write. Will catch up proper tomorrow

missjackson · 10/02/2011 22:16

hkz Sad for your papa - is he still at home then? My Mum had to fight sooo hard to get proper care for my grandad in his 80s so I know what you mean. Hope he manages to fight off the infection. Poor you, no wondered you are knackered, you have so much on your plate right now.

Good idea to wait and see with names. How sweet of DH... what was his name? Carys, not Cerys though - hmmm, maybe she'll always be saying, 'Carys with an A...' Grin

Hope you get a good sleep.
