Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ah well hopeully that's done the trick. Maybe you could buy them both a late xmas present of a diary, with IMPORTANT DATES written in and underlined several times. You can see i like to go for the subtle approach! :o

It was strange with Anna's jabs as, i think we were the opposite from you Blathers in that we'd not had any problems following the 8, 12 or 16 month ones, but the 12month's were a whole different story! She is booked in for the 13 month ones (includes MMR??) in a fortnight, just before DNeph's christening, so hope it's not a repeat performance!

Got HV coming tomorrow for her 12 month review. Hoping she will weigh and measure her as she hasn't been weighed since before i went back to work!

Hope you're feeling better Blathers.

Am going to put an up to date pic of Anna on my profile, if anyone wants to have a look. Oh and will put the birthday cake up too, that i made from that easy cakes book that was recommended on here!

Those photos are fab Ethelred. The cake looks brilliant and I love the gold hat (and the angel of the North pic)

When I asked our HV's, I was told they're no longer doing 12 month checks here so Catherine will have to wait until she's 2 for someone to look at her again.

I think Catherine will be in her stage 1 car seat forever! It'll be going in the bin once she's finished with it too which will be very sad. We bought it for Alex so it's been well used but I'll still be upset when it goes I think

BlueChampagne · 06/01/2011 13:08

Love the title! We're still waiting too ... can anyone remind me whether there's commonly a growth spurt around 13 months? Conrad had 1 weetabix and 6oz bottle of milk at about 6.30pm and was shouting for more by 10.15pm! He then lasted till about 5am but was then cuddled back to sleep in our bed (phew).

Blatherskite · 06/01/2011 21:32

Yep, another growth spurt and the height of separation anxiety too!

We've just about got Catherine going from 7pm till 6am most nights. We even had a 7am last week Shock This morning it was 5.45 though which is hard. Why does 6am seem reasonable but 5.59 seem so much earlier? Really hoping the growth spurt doesn't mess things up again. She's getting more and more stable on her feet so I'm hoping we'll have walking soon which will help tire her out.

Good to see you back Blue.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 06/01/2011 21:54

Hi all, and hi again to BlueChampagne!

Glad you like the pics, they are funny aren't they. The pointy hat is actually part of a star outfit she got for christmas, but she won't wear the main bit of it; just the hat!!, so looks like a little wizard.

Blathers, it sounds like things are going the right way with the sleeping? Fingers crossed that all the exercise will wear her out for you!

HV came today and did the annual review. She stayed 40 mins! I was incredulous as previously she has been in and out in 10 mins. All going well and anna seems to be sitting between 75th and 91st centile on both charts, so pretty happy with that. Plus we got the bookstart pack, which included some crayons and paper so we had a go with those this aft.

We are back at swimming tomorrow morning. We've not been for ages as there was a problem with the pool pre-xmas and it had to shut down, but apparently now it's all sorted. Hope so! Hmm I bet it will be absolutely freezing though in the changing rooms-not looking forward to that!

Blatherskite · 06/01/2011 22:09

Catherine probably won't get a Bookstart pack now Sad Our HV's aren't doing a 1 year check anymore and they'll Bookstart won't exist anymore by the time we get to her 2 year check. Alex will never get his Bookstart Treasure Chest either.

Am chuckling about the car seat thing cos Toby was in a second stage one at 8 months as he weighed too much (we got him checked at Mothercare and as he was sitting, crawling and pulling himself up and was tall and heavy they said he was fine) and he broke the handle on his stage 1 one!!!! He is 32lbs ish now so well and truly big enough for the second stage one LOL! He has his 12 month injections tomorrow....feel bad but I held off him having them over Christmas so is 3 weeks behind schedule now! Was worrying about his size so go childminder to take him and get him checked......they reassured her to tell me not to worry.....he is not chubby at all just BIG....in 18-24 months clothes and now buying 2-3 years though they are too long and have to be rolled up!
First swimming lesson on Saturday at our local pool and Daddy is taking him in...... my stretch marks are way too scary!
I got my book start pack at 8 month check and its lovely so push for one! y daughter is 8 so books have changed and leaflets went in bin but got a nice laminated nursery rhyme sheet etc!

sparklycheerymummy · 07/01/2011 00:03

I think YES to the 12-13 months growth spurt.....toby stirring more and up at 4.30 a few time grrrrrr and demolishing 8ozs milk the minute he is up!

HerculesPoirot · 07/01/2011 14:06

Hello everyone - we're still here! Been busy going back to work this week, then we had a three hour power cut last night as I was trying to take down all the Christmas decorations and immy woke up and wouldn't go back to sleep for two hours. No idea why!

Sleeping here had been going well until the last two nights, but she seems to have a little cold so maybe that isn't helping. Imogen is also on the slight side, and only just growing out her first car seat - although it was one that goes up to 13kg or something and I don't think she is anyway near that yet. At her 8 month check (at 10.5 months!) she had dropped down the centiles and the hv said to bring her back at about 12 months, but like blathers said, I know there is nothing wrong with her so I'm not bothering for now. You have all reminded me to book her jabs so those are on the 20th. Fingers crossed she'll be fine with them.

Ethelred, I love the pictures of Anna in her hat! I also made a cake from that book so will try to put some pictures up, although not as good as yours!

I'm revelling in shopping this time. Clothes shopping for Alex on the one rail of Blue/Green/Brown stuff covered in Monkeys/Skulls wasn't fun so being able to choose from the huge selection of girls stuff now I have Catherine is fantastic. I do know how you feel though Lee, it's annoying isn't it.

I used to get a lot of Alex's stuff from Tesco in the end as they seemed to do more boys things and it was also really cheap. I've got some lovely things for Alex from Vertbaudet recently too.

Had a good night out with the inlaws last night! Well the SIL's anyway. Both told me I was their favourite SIL (although with the competition that isn't hard) and that they loved me!! SIL2 did spoil it slightly by insisting we should sing 'We are Family and In laws' Confused But it could have been worse. Tired today though. I drove so no alcohol to keep me going and after playing taxi, I got home in time to have 3.5 hours sleep before Catherine got up at 6am. Really need an early night tonight...

Managed 10 hours last night thanks to DH getting up with the children and feel a lot better! :)

BlueChampagne · 10/01/2011 12:49

Hi All! A growth spurt and onset of separation anxiety would explain the worsening of our nights of late. Anyone given theirs a pillow yet?

No pillow here. Alex didn't have one until he moved into a bed at about 2.5 and I'll probably do the same with Catherine.

Good luck with the nights Blue. It's a phase, hopefully, it'll be over soon

Blatherskite · 11/01/2011 20:31

Catherine got a new tooth yesterday - that's 5 now :)

Top left.

As far as know, it's supposed to go 2 bottom teeth, 2 top teeth, 2 bottom teeth either side of first 2, 2 top teeth either side of first 2.... so I was looking out for bottom ones but from the look of her gums, she's going to get the second set of top teeth first. The second right one is obvious under the gum and looks like it's about to break through whereas there is no sign of the bottom ones yet.

My daughter, being difficult? quelle surprise Grin

AmazingBouncingFerret · 12/01/2011 17:34

Cant help but chuckle at "we are family-and in-laws" I swear they must be from a different planet. (Your DH excluded of course!)

Just plodding along, Elizabeth still has only 2 teeth. Jake calls her Toothless like the dragon in How to train your dragon.

Ive just bit the bullet and had all my hair chopped off. It was waist length and is now upto my chin! Shock
It needed doing because there's no way I could of managed it after the operation.

It's my birthday tomorrow. 27 years old. AHHH
