Oh dear - my night time celebrations may have been premature! Imogen woke up last night about 10.30 ish for an hour where she just cried and was clearly trying to sleep but didn't want to be put down, or held I think either really! We think she has some teeth coming through nearer the back as there has been a lot of chewing on things and she sort of moves her head to one side as if her ear hurts, but she doesn't have a temperature so I don't think it's an ear infection. In the end we managed to trick her into taking calpol and calprofen and she eventually went back to sleep and then slept all night. I'm thinking positively and thinking that at least she didn't wake up wanting milk...

Lee glad you got back alright, although sorry that the worry was there all weekend. We didn't even go half an hour's drive yesterday just in case - had we not had Imogen we would have definitely gone. Fab news on the sleeping when away too - we're staying at my parents for a couple of nights over christmas, and having to share a room with her so we shall see how that works out!!!

BlathIce - hope you manage to get your shopping all sorted.

BlathIceSkate · 21/12/2010 11:50

I think we have teeth coming again too. Catherine's keeps waking in the night when previously she'd been sleeping to 6am-ish. Poor baby.

Weather here is awful. We had 8 inches of snow over the weekend and are due another 6 inches tonight. Trying to convince DH to work from home rather than go in as it's supposed to start tonight and just carry on snowing through till tomorrow afternoon so not only will there be the frozen, compacted, icy snow underneath fresh snow, but we're due heavy snow too so driving will be dangerous!!

We're supposed to be driving to S Yorkshire to spend Christmas with my family on Friday too. Worried we won't make it. Have bought a simple, back-up Christmas dinner just in case and stashed it in the new freezer in the garage (MIL was getting rid of it so we've had it instead) I figure it's just a posh Sunday dinner and if we don't need it on Saturday, we can have a nice meal in the New Year instead. Better to be safe than sorry :)

Just popping in to say Hi. Almost Christmas now...

I know - soooo exciting! Do you think you're going to be able to travel OK?

BlathIceSkate · 22/12/2010 22:21

It's looking much better. I think we'll get there :)

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 22/12/2010 23:50

That's good news - all the snow has mostly gone from here. Still a bit on the smaller roads and pavements, but much easier for getting around.

Just finishing off my last minute baking/cooking today and tomorrow night for my parents christmas hamper!

I've always said "No", that it would be no more special than an average Sunday if it were just the four of us....

...but having gone out and bought the food and the crackers etc and having thought about it a bit more, I have to admit it did start to appeal :)

Our own bed, the possibilty of Catherine sleeping better and my cooking would be nice. Maybe next year?

Catherine slept until 5.30am which is fab for us at the moment! We had 2.30 last week Shock

Merry Christmas Everyone. Hope you have a fabulous day

Well, it's happened. Catherine's birthday forgotten by a friend and then blamed on being 'too close to Christmas' Xmas Sad Twice! Xmas Sad

Am quite Xmas Angry

They always remember Alex's and I always remember their kids!

Maybe I'll 'forget' next year and blame it on being too close to Easter.

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 23/12/2010 20:47

Oh BlathIce - what a rubbish excuse by your friend, especially for a first birthday too. I'd be Angry too!

BlathIceSkate · 23/12/2010 21:09

It's DH's 2 best mates. They've all known each other since they were kids, were all best men for one another - we ALWAYS remember their kids birthdays no matter what time of the year. Remembered M's DD's 1st birthday just last month! Always get something for D's DS and M's 3 kids but both of them have forgotten Catherine's 1st!!

D and his girlfriend were here - she asked me how old Catherine was now. Looked a bit shocked when I said "She was 1 on Friday".

One day I will learn not to leave things to the last minute! We are half way through making all the stuff for my parents hamper present! Quite fun, but far too late...

Lee, I'm not glad you're cleaning your kitchen at this time of night, but I am glad I'm not the only one doing things ridiculously late at night!!!

Haha - we have almost finished cooking things. Tonight we've made mince pies (with homemade mincemeat!), shortbread biscuits, mulled wine kits, cranberry and red onion marmalade, raspberry and orange liqueur. I've made all sorts of pretty tags and stuff to go on them. Double chocolate muffins just finishing cooking, chocolate truffle mix chilling ready to be rolled into truffles tomorrow night and dh is just whipping up some brandy butter!!!!

We also managed to tidy up a lot of downstairs, done about 3 loads of washing and wrapped the last few presents and finally written all of Imogen's thank you cards! I think I shall be having an early night tomorrow night....

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 24/12/2010 14:32

Merry Christmas everyone for tomorrow!

Hello everyone. Hope everyone had good Christmas'
Sorry to hear about your friends missing Catherines birthday Blathers. It seems as if Elizabeths birthday doesnt exist either. Even with us. I remember for Jake's 1st birthday we both had the day off and we took him to the zoo. Paul worked on Elizabeth's birthday and my Dad and I had a joyful trip around Sainsburys. Her birthday treat...
I vowed that day I will take her and Jake out for a nice day to make up for it. So we planned to brave the cold and take them the zoo tomorrow but Jake cant seem to shake a high temperature. Im dosing him with calpol and ibuprofen but it just keeps coming back. Sad
Poirot, your hamper stuff sounded delish! I didnt really get much time to make stuff for Christmas, things were very hectic at work as we were a member of staff down. I did get to eat quite a few M&S mince pies though!
Im gonna have to watch what im eating again, that elusive size ten I managed to get myself into is becoming tight again. I bought a pair of topshop jeans in the sale yesterday and they are ever so slightly too tight. Ahhh!

How many teeth have all your little ones got now? Elizabeth has still only got 2!! She seems to manage very well with them though, even tackled steak today.

Anyway now im back on here (not sure if anyone noticed but I took a bit of a break!) hopefully we can get this thread being regular again.

Blatherskite · 27/12/2010 20:21

Yey! ABF is back Grin

DH thinks I'm being daft about the birthday thing but I'm really hurt. M's birthday is a couple of days befor Catherine's so he must know how crap it is. One of my (previously) best friends has forgotten too. She didn't even text! She has no kids of her own but she's always been so good with Alex and our other friends kids. I just feel so sorry for poor old Catherine.

My jeans are getting very a bit tight too. DH is back to work on Wednesday so the diet starts then. Fed up as I'd lost loads and was looking forward to looking good at SIL's 40th on the 6th Jan. Now I'm going to be lucky to be back to the weight I was pre-center parcs/birthday/christmas Sad Disppointed in myself for losing the plot so badly.

I could do with some of thet Bran I think Grin

Hi all, have recently got back on MN. Lacey is one on Thursday, we will take her and her siblings to an indoor play centre i think, and have cake etc at home. Lacey has 6 teeth, whoever asked :). she has started 'fighting' with her 2 year old sister - she steals a toy from her, and runs away as fast as she can move, Mimi runs after her as fast as possible, is quite funny Xmas Grin. Lacey liked the wrapping paper more than anything!

Hope everyone is well, off to read.

Blatherskite · 27/12/2010 20:38

Scorps too! Good to see you.

Catherine has 4 teeth. Forgot that bit. Had to stop feeding her when she got the top two a few weeks ago - they're so sharp!!

Scorps · 27/12/2010 20:45

Lacey still going with her boob, she's a big booby head.
