I'm quite pleased we're finished. I have spent Christmas drinking far too much :)

Blatherskite · 28/12/2010 18:27

Catherine just stood up unsupported!! It's not just steadying herself against the sofa and letting go either, she can stand up from sitting on the floor!!!

Next step - walking Shock

EthelredRedRobin · 29/12/2010 00:59

hey all! belated merry christmas to you all. Not been on for ages, just been mad busy what with Anna's birthday and then all the christmas prep.

We went and bought her first pair of shoes today; she's been taking a few steps here and there and then did 20 steps (we counted-saddos!) yesterday, so, as we were at a clarks at an outlet village today, thought we'd get her some little shoes!

will write more later, but hope you are all ok. Need to catch up on the thread. xxx

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 29/12/2010 11:34

Hello everyone! Glad the thread is getting busier again. We had a lovely christmas - Imogen seemed to absolutely love it! Her sleeping has been a little disrupted as we had to share a room with her for 4 nights. She slept through first and last night, but on Christmas night she woke up, had a drink and then chattered away to herself in her cot for about two and a half hours. In the end we snuck in to bed about 1.30 am after giving up waiting for her to go back to sleep and then had to lay there, trying not to giggle as we could hear her scampering around in her cot, talking, blowing raspberries, giggling to herself and growling!!!! I think all the excitement got to her...

Imogen has 8 teeth - the first 4 came more or less together at around 6 months and the last 4 came more or less all together again at about 9 months. We thought there were some more coming through the other week, but can't see them so not sure now...

Imogen is standing up alone and looks like she wants to take a step, but can't quite manage to lift a foot off the ground. It's very funny, she makes it look like her feet are made of concrete and she can't move them although she looks like she is trying!! She isn't as good as Catherine though, as so far she can only get to standing if she has something to help her get up, although it can be one of her small trucks...

My sister had a little baby girl yesterday!
Im having to work so cant go and visit straight away. Sad Have seen a photo though and she looks just like her brother did when he was a baby.

Elizabeth has been walking for about 2 weeks now. She still has a few tumbles but she spent the majority of her time at the Sea Life Centre tearing around enjoying her new found freedom.

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 31/12/2010 11:19

Happy birthday Andrew for Wednesday - it sounds like you gad a lovely day. I still can't believe how fast it has gone. Every day I look at Imogen she looks more and more like a little person and less like a baby!!!

ABF congrats on auntieship! Hope you get a cuddle soon.

My house looks like a tornado has ripped through it. I've been trying to sort it out this morning, whilst immy 'helps' me by making more mess in every room we go into! Given up now and am drinking tea and on here instead!

Blatherskite · 31/12/2010 21:09

A belated Happy Birthday to Andrew. Hope you're all having a lovely time on holiday.

Congratulations to Auntie ABF, I hope you've mnaaged to meet your new niece by now and Well done Elizabeth on the walking!

And Happy New Year to everyone. Can you believe we've spent a whole year with our new babies now? Here's to many, many more happy years watching them grow.

HerculesPoiroastinOnAnOpenFire · 31/12/2010 22:02

Just wanted to say a quick happy new year, this might be the first one we're in bed before midnight!

sparklycheerymummy · 31/12/2010 22:32

HI everyone....havent been around for ages.....just dont seem to get time now am back at work! Toby is bonkers but fab......soooo active I am worn out and a really heavy tall lad so my arms are getting muscley.....he was 31lbs at last weigh in a few weeks ago. He was walking at 9 months though and climbs, runs and spins round and round in circles.....its hilarious. He has 8 teeth but def more coming through! Constant snotty nose but touch wood no major tummy bugs other than nasty nappies with teething! My friends little lad has just been diagnosed with Kawasaki disease.....does anyone know anything about it.....my friend is beside herself with worry.....something to do with the heart????? Toby sleeping well though usually up about 6.30 after a run of 7.30 - 8 am get ups!

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO A LOVELY GROUP OF LADIES WHO HELPED ME THROUGH THOSE HARD HARD FIRST MONTHS XXXXX

sparklycheerymummy · 31/12/2010 22:34

Got him some new shoes yesterday.....big bloomin fella is size 6.....£34 pound later.....ouch!!

HerculesPoirot · 31/12/2010 23:04

Hi sparkly! Toby does sound solid, but lots of fun!!! I am really looking forward to immy walking so I can take her to some new places. Imogen is definitely on the skinny side, no idea where she gets that from though, certainly not me or dh!

I had a quick look up about Kawasaki disease I think when diagnosed and treated usually doesn't have any long term effects. it can cause heart problems, usually if left untreated, so it is likely your friend's little boy may be hospitalised and have heart scans regularly for a little while to make sure he is ok. My understanding is that if treated and monitored problems canc be caught early and dealt with. Obviously this isn't any sort of official advice, but there is info on the nhs website about it.

sparklycheerymummy · 31/12/2010 23:05

Its awful...... my friend thought he had a bug...... I made her take him to docs as his hands were peeling and sore and he had sores in his mouth but I thought it was hand foot and mouth! Scarey....he feels tired and rotten and keeps being sick on and off!

HerculesPoirot · 31/12/2010 23:11

This might be useful here if you go to the treatment page there are links to groups to support parents and put them in touch with others going through same thing. All the stuff seems to say it is really difficult to diagnose and easily confused with other stuff. Hope that helps anyway.

Blatherskite · 02/01/2011 15:12

The first post of 2011!

Hope everyone's New Years are going well so far.

DH has taken Alex to see a Pantomime with his parents, sisters and nieces and nephews. Catherine's too young so we went shopping instead. The Pumpkin Patch sale was on... Ooops Grin

Hi Al

Happy New Year to you all and congrats to those who have recently had birthdays, or new arrivals in the family.

Lee that, IMO, is dreadful. Perhaps they would realise if you accidently on purpose forget their or their DC's next birthdays! Anna got bloody loads of cards, but we did hammer it home by having a party at out house!! :o

All in all, we've had a lovely time off work, but has been dampened somewhat by me having the worst cold ever. I am resisting calling it flu, as it wasn't, but i have felt crap now for almost a fortnight. Ended up having to change some of our xmas plans as was just not up to visiting different people every day, and then today was supposed to going to manchester with my mum, to see 'we will rock you', but had to cancel that as DM had flu! Booooo :( Also, Anna was quite poorly after her 12 month jabs, which she had on tues before xmas, and that lasted over christmas until boxing day, when she made a miraculous recovery! Was pretty bad though when she was ill, she was properly screaming for the majority of the day, which was not nice for her or us. Luckily she was still slseeping well at night, but through the day was just so grumpy and off her food, poor little thing. I think that she was also teething, as well as feeling poorly from the vaccinations, as she now has 7 teeth! She seems to have had quite a lot through all at once.

Am supposed to be back to work on Wed, for one day, but as still feel quite ropey, don't know whether to take the day off and start back properly on Monday. Won't be a taxing first day back, but still means getting up at 6am and not getting home til 6pm.

Good to see you on the other thread Blathers, maybe we can encourage each other! Am dreading getting weighed though...does it help if you stand on one leg?!?! ha ha ha!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 03/01/2011 20:37

Hi All...that was a good start! :o

Blatherskite · 04/01/2011 21:23

It's gone awfully quiet on here since the new year!!

I think I'd say something of I were you Lee. We got a last minute present from one friend but that still leaves 2 that forgot completely and I'm still upset with them! I'd be devastated if it were family!! Sad

Catherine was fine after her 12 month jabs. She was grotty after her earlier jabs so I was a little worried (esp as they were the day before her birthday) but she sailed through them. Didn't even cry when the needles went in. We've got her 13 month ones next week so fingers crossed for those...

I've got another blooming cold atm. Felt ropey last night and have had a sore throat and then woke up this morning with the works - sore throat, raised glands, earache, headache, sinus pain and my whole body achey and sore. Thankfully, Alex was at preschool this morning and Catherine slept for an hour and a half which is amazing for her as she usually only managed about 40 mins so I managed to get some quiet time this morning.

This afternoon is another kettle of fish however!! Wish me luck :)

Help would be lovely. Unfortuneately, the only person who lives close enough and doesn't work a full week is MIL and Catherine hates her! Feeling better now I'm dosed on flu tablets, we'll be OK.

Apparently 13 months jabs are arms when previously it's always been legs. Wondering if I can ask them to give Catherine's in her legs anyway as she's still so tiny. She lost some weight when we all got poorly last time so was back to her 10 month weight when I got her weighed last time. She's still only in 6-9 month clothes too. Her little arms seem too skinny for needles!

Good luck with the e-mail.

I wish Catherine was a bit tubbier. I took her to what should have been her last weigh in with the HV's and they asked if I'd take her back again next month so they can check she's regained the weight she lost. I asked if I needed to bring her or if it was just if I was worried and they said they really wanted me to bring her along - so now I feel like I have to go else someone will be chasing me Sad

I suppose their willingness to follow things up should be a good thing (I mentioned I was feeling depressed once and they rang me about once a month for ages checking if I was OK afterwards!) but this time it's a bit of a pain. She's fine, she's just teeny.

Glad you got a quick reply from one sister - hopefully there is a present in the post now - and you'll be hearing from the other sister soon.
