morning all Smile

hope you've all had a good christmas hols Smile dh is back at work today [ahhhhhhh] Grin

allsheep, sorry to hear about your mum, I would hope she was only trying to protect you, have you managed to sort things out with her? How's your dn, hope she's on the mend. As you're childminding, shall I send my lot over, could do with a break Grin Do you start your new job soon?

strawberry, moving has come round quick, so good you've got friends to help, makes a massive difference Smile That's one advantage to slightly older dcs, the presents get smaller as they get older so less need for massive amounts of space! Our present shopping is very much based on how much space something needs, E got one of those cleaning trolley things, I think that was the only large item but he absolutely loves it. He's very much into hoovers at the moment, calls them hoohoos, shame he's too small to use a real one yet Grin

snow, awww, I know what you mean about the mullet, E looks much more grown up without his little blond curls, I'm just hoping it's been enough to even it out growing wise Smile Z made the most of christmas then Smile sounds lovely.

june, how lovely, so pleased the ils behaved Smile Totally fed up with turkey now, should be last of it tonight in a turkey stew Hmm dh loves it so always tries to get a massive one, personally I'd rather have one that just did christmas day and boxing day but there you go! Turkey buying is always a bit of a battle of the wills, I say it's huge, dh says it's pigeon size Grin Not doing anything special for new year, in fact I'll probably be asleep by midnight given current form Hmm New year always used to be so exciting, so many parties to choose from . . . must be getting old.

gauchita, hope you had a great christmas without any spots Smile have you booked anything for new year yet?

christmas here seemed to go well, everyone behaved and got on with each other [yay] just a shame dd1 had to work boxing day Sad Mil really spoilt my fun this year, dh and bil didn't get matching jumpers Grin I will never forget the look on their faces that year Grin E had a fab time opening his pressies even though he got really tired and had to go to bed part way through! This is the first year dd3 has been interested in presents as well which was lovely Smile it was funny though, every peice of paper she ripped off she had do give to dd1 and got quite cross with her if she wasn't ready. Dd2 and ds1 went on thier scout hike yesterday, had a great time but came back covered in mud so had to sit outside cleaning their boots first, they weren't impressed!

will post some photos later when I get a chance. Waves to all Smile

Hi all!

Bigcar, glad you had a lovely Christmas. How sweet DD3 enjoyed present opening this year Smile No turkey in this house, I'm a pescatarian and DH doesn't like turkey Grin so one thing not to worry about Grin Hope tonight is the last of turkey eating at the bigcar household.

Allsheep, so sorry to hear what happened. As bigcar said, hope your mum has apologised/apologises. Glad to hear the rest of the day picked up and N had a great time with her cousins on boxing day.

Strawberry, glad to hear you had a lovely Christmas and a safe trip back home, albeit a longer than usual one. We'll be here giving you support and positive moving vibes all throughout the move Smile They can be stressful but as Bigcar said, having friend that help is great!

June, glad to hear the ILs behaved and you had a nice time Smile NY's eve plans sound lovely Smile

Snow, aw so cute Z enjoying Christmas with all of you Smile Well done DH for cooking it all and enjoying pat leave with you Smile No spots yet, maybe she dodged it? Only time will tell Grin

Christmas here was lovely, we woke up early with M to open all the presents, she was delighted! She was holding one and then DH gave her the next one to open and she didn't want to let go of the former Grin So cute.

DH got the manflu on Sunday and M and I caught it yesterday I can't believe it, I had JUST recovered from a long cold/flu, my immune system is evidently weak at the moment. This one came with all the artillery, body ache, lots of temperature, argh. I'm feeling truly rotten Sad

So, not going anywhere for NY's eve now. We wanted to go down to London but that's out of the question now Sad The doc told me today I can be like this for a week! Boooo

Waves!!!

Hi everyone,

Good day today, N's cousin came out of hospital last night and DH took her sisters and N to see her today :), she is full of beans, but has lost quite a lot of weight. We still have her sisters staying until the 2nd as their mum got no sleep in the hospital and just needs a break.

I am hoping that things with my mum will be resolved, she was trying to be protective in a very tactless way, we are speaking, but she has yet to recognise what she did wrong and apologise. I feel like the mum and she is the daughter, I am trying to not get mad and count to ten when she says something else that winds me up.

Bigcar - Glad everyone had a good time over Christmas, if I had the extra beds I would take your lot for New Year too. I start new job on the 4th, so I am trying to get prepared, but due to N's cousin being in hospital we have had her 3 older sisters staying so I haven't got as much done as I would like. Will have to do some late nighters Confused.

Snow - glad to hear you are enjoying some family time, I still haven't cut N's hair so it is a big cloud of curls that get knotted as soon as I have combed it.

Gauchita - hope you feel better soon, have you tried echinacea + good multivit to boost your immune system? Can really sympathise, have still got chesty cough left over from 'flu and N has only just recovered from the last in a succession of viruses that she has had since the beginning of November, it is exhausting especially when you are sick too.

Strawberry - most of the van was filled with boxes of books when we moved, I packed those first like you as they were not essentials. You can never have enough books in my opinion, I still have lots of childrens books that I read when I was young that I can now pass onto N, I never throw books away. N also talks in her sleep, mainly about Rocket our neighbour's chinchilla that she is absolutely obsessed by!

GauchitaBell · 31/12/2010 21:18

Jan 1st. Ah, start of a new year of health and happiness....

hmmm...and then the worms appeared. Squirmy little things in dd's poo.

Jan 2nd....Clean all toilets. Vacuum entire house. Bacterial wipe all surfaces. Clean all bedding, towels, night clothes, robes etc. Get medicine. Daughter refuses to poo.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.

Regardless of this, still very excited about 2011. Hope you are feeling a teency bit better Gauchita.

snowwombat · 02/01/2011 21:02

Happy New Year everyone!

Does the sickness never end? A, in his love of his little sister and kissing her constantly, has given her his stinking cold and cough. Poor Z is struggling to feed, and getting saline or BM squirted up her nose. I think i had two days without a cold, but it is back again. What i would do for some sudafed!

venetian OMG, you poor thing. Hope the buggers retreat soon and DD ok.
gauchita need a hot lemon and honey? did you find any snow shoes?
allsheep what a relief that N's cousin is ok. How was it been having lots of kids to look after? Good luck with starting the new job this week. How are things with your Mum?
bigcar sounds like the kids had a lovely time at christmas! Controlled chaos? Grin
strawb good luck with the packing. We have our dear friends here moving back to Oz and are inheriting all the stuff they can't fit in their bags. Any friends locally you can offload crap onto donate unwanted items to? Smile

Just made a tart tatin, smells ready so better go and get it out.Yum!

GauchitaBell · 03/01/2011 10:54

Hi all!

Snow, oh it's a PITA, isn't it? Everybody seems to be ill these days so it's hard to avoid it. Hope you all feel better soon, esp. wee Z. I found the shoes but as all the pests started on Boxing day I haven't bought them yet Cabin fever anyone? Grin Mmmm tart tatin, yum!

Allsheep, glad to her your DN is well. How was the babysitting? Hope you're all on the mend, thanks for the recommendations Smile Good luck on the new job this week!!

Venetian, oh no, poor DD. Hope the little buggers bugger off soon. I like your attitude, though, you're right, new year, positive vibes! Smile

Bigcar, hi! How are you all? Hope you've all managed to avoid the flu! Smile

June, how was NY's eve at the June household? Hope you had a nice time. How was the hair salon appt? Smile

Strawberry, hope the packing is going well. And hope friends are already helping Smile

Right, NY's eve was quiet here. We were in bed by 11.30 Grin but woke up with the fireworks, and so did M of course Grin.

Feeling better, it's mainly just the snot that lasts longer Hmm I hate not being able to breathe normally. I've enjoyed all the rest and play-time with M at home but I'm a bit cabin feverish atm Grin

About 10 spots appeared on M's body yesterday. They're quite puffy and blister-looking but this morning she had the same, or one or two more so I'm not sure it's CP I'm embarrassed to call the out of hours docs as they'll have in the system I called 3 weeks ago about the same Blush and it was a false alarm so they'll prob think "come on woman!" Grin

And on a different note, a few days ago I got a BFP Smile I guess that's why the flu felt even worse!! (no energy, feeling all queasy) So yes, I'm with child Grin Very very excited but very very tired all the time Grin No MS yet but quite queasy and that awful feeling in the mouth that makes me want to eat or drink something all the time just to get rid of it. Grin According to MN I'm about 5 weeks. I wanted to share it with you Smile

I'll call the MW team tomorrow to book an appt Smile OH, please don't mention anything on FB those of you who are there, we're not telling people until a bit later on Smile

Hope you have a nice day!

Waves!

snowwombat · 03/01/2011 12:36

Grin Grin Grin

can you tell i am excited for you?

june did you make it to midnight on NYE? we didn't get close, although I was back up from 1 till 4 feeding!

bigcar · 03/01/2011 15:00

afternoon all Smile

Grin Grin Grin wow, congratulations gauchita, wonderful news for the new year! Hope Ms ok if it is cp.

snow, we didn't make new year either [yawn] think I fell asleep about 11.30 [lightweight] Hope you're all feeling a little better.

venetian, sorry to hear about the visitors, dd1 had them once, but then she always got everything like that that went round, especially headlice [yuck] Hope the year improves!

still Grin ing for gauchita, waves to all Smile

OP posts:
GauchitaBell · 03/01/2011 19:35

Aw, thanks ladies Smile

I'm very excited, I can't hide it Grin

M went to bed early today, she had a bit of temp and a few more spots appeared during the day. I sent some pics to my father, who confirmed it was CP, so now it's only a matter of keeping her happy and staying at home for the rest of the week as she's still contagious. I guess my cabin fever shall have to be appeased with lots of cake Wink

Snow, A had CP while you were pg IIRC. Did the MW give you any specific advice? I read somewhere if you've already had it then the baby is immune. I had it when I was 6, or around that age. How are you all? Hope you're on the mend.

Waves!

June2009 · 03/01/2011 20:04

hey gauchita WOW, congrats :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
I'm really happy for you! So you were pregnant eating that custard the other day ;)
(only joking I haven't actually gone back through the messages to check the dates or anything ;))

Sorry to hear about M's spots, you just have to wait it out, don't you?
I'm a bit worried about C starting nursery again this week after so many of our local friends got this horrible high temperature bug and/or the flu over xmas.

I did make it to new year in the end (been taking vitamins lately which really seems to work!) Well and also C. was sick all over our bed after too much tickling so that really did the trick waking me up!!!
We had a lovely holiday break, couldn't have hoped for better.
I started work today, lots to sort out over the next few days.

venetian sorry to hear about worms, I hope it clears soon, I wouldn't know where to start!! Is it contagious then that you had to sanatise everything.

right dh just got back so it's dinnertime,

hope everybody else is ok,
sam hope you're getting on ok with packing.
bigcar the house must feel empty once everyone is back to school/work/uni etc!
snow How's Z? hopefully the cold will get better very soon, you can't really give them much in terms of medicine at this age can you? What does A make of his little sister?

There's a lot of pregnant friends or friends with newborns around me at the moment!

Talk soon!

AllSheepareWhite · 03/01/2011 22:53

Hi everyone,

Aww Gauchita what lovely news to start the new year with:) Sorry to hear about M's chicken pox when I was pregnant my niece had chicken pox and I was looking after her while her mum went to college so definitely exposed. Had no ill effects as like you had CP age 6 and as you have seen N is just fine.

Venetian - sorry to hear about the worms, they hate garlic so my mum used to crush a garlic clove and mix with vaseline which had the added effect of stopping them laying. Also grapefruit seed extract is a powerful anti-parasitic agent that can be taken as liquid drops mixed with water. There have been threads on this before see here which have lots of advice.

Snow - sorry to hear about Z's cold, do you suck out the mucus once you have added drops/bm, I always found that helped.

Bigcar - I hope that now term will be starting that you will here about DD3's school soon

June - we made it to midnight and beyond.

Having agreed to look after kids on new years eve we also ended up with DN age 9 months. The combination of her sleeping pattern and N's was not good. DN woke at 3am for an hour and a half to play Confused. Then about half an hour after she went to sleep N woke up so I put her in our bed and she went back to sleep however, I now realise why she has to sleep in her own bed as she spent half an hour rolling around and kicking me in the head in her sleep before I had enough and swapped her with DN who was in N's cot! Back to work tomorrow and I still haven't recovered from the lack of sleep.

bigcar · 04/01/2011 09:46

morning all Smile

allsheep, good luck with the new job Smile

june, hope C gets on ok and doesn't bring any bugs home from nursery.

gauchita, how's M doing, any more spots today?

snow, how's Z, any better? Does she look like A at all, hope she hasn't got the mullet developing Grin How lovely A wants to give her kisses Smile

dd3s case goes to panel again today, just hoping I get good news soon and not another deferred or no or it will be sendist here we come!

dd2 is back at school today, she didn't have to be in until 9.45 so at least it wasn't a totally manic morning. Ds1 and dd3 are back tomorrow, christmas has been lovely but I need a cup of tea in peace now and to try to get the house back into a vague shade of organised Smile

waves to all Smile

OP posts:
bigcar · 04/01/2011 12:16

just in case anyone is interested reins and waterproofs here and here and I will do my photos today!

OP posts:
venetianred · 04/01/2011 14:31

Thanks so much allsheep - a really handy site, especially as my daughter may have given them to our neighbour's daughter and her mother is pregnant and unable to take Ovex. Also, I think F has the eggs in his poo, so there may be more to come.

gauchita - my two had CP in November. F had a really bad dose of it. Heartbreaking at the worst of it, but thankfully moves on quite quickly. C peaked and was bad for 24 hours and then better. F was bad for almost 3 days then back to being perky. So she should be much better very soon.

snow - poor wee Z. They just need 24 hours cuddles don't they, it's so tough when you can't give them anything that really soothes them. I hope it is a bit better. Impressed with your tarte tartin. I have pondered making one for many a year but never taken the challenge it head on. Maybe a manageable resolution for 2011 - Make 1 tarte tartin!

bigcar - I dread the thought of headlice. Is it the same washing marathon as for the 'friendly visitors that wave back?'

june - my hands are bleeding from so much washing and have to use bacterial gel and surface wipes all the time. One worm can lay up to 16,000 eggs. That's a lot of eggs to chase around the house.

My birthday tomorrow. Have asked dd to draw me a picture for a present and so far she has spend 2 hours on it!!!! Isn't that gorgeous.

snowwombat · 05/01/2011 12:01

just a quick post as going to try and have a nap while I have 2 sleeping children Grin.
Z slept 20mins in her cot overnight but 4hrs in bed next to me Smile.
gauchita how you feeling? As you have already had CP it should be fine. How is M? Calpol, Piriton, oats in a stocking in the bath, etc.
venetian it's a cheats tatin- ready made puff pastry, butter, sugar and apples. Want the recipe? Happy birthday! any special plans?
bigcar same hairline as A Smile. falling out from the front too.

Z is a bit better, still vomiting mucous but feeding constantly and more settled. Thank you all for your concern.

GauchitaBell · 05/01/2011 12:41

Hi all!

Snow, so glad to hear you're all on the mend and Z is also better. Go enjoy your nap Smile
I'm feeling OK, queasy and I have an almost constant lower back pain which is a PITA but otherwise fine Smile M's quite OK actually, not feeling like scratching much, and apart from a little off her food, she's mostly as usual.

Venetian, happy birthday!!! Hope you have a lovely day today. How sweet your DD making you a picture Smile Any plans for today? Hope the visitors are on their way out now Smile

Bigcar, oh peace at home again Smile I bet you need some after the holidays Grin I had my fingers crossed yesterday for the panel session, hope you get news (good news!) soon.

Allsheep, hope you managed to catch up a bit on some sleep. How was your day yesterday? Hope you're having a great first week Smile

June, Grin don't know actually, I think that was a week before but could be! Grin Glad to hear you had a nice NY's eve.

Right, a few more spots so now M's almost all covered Grin She's being an angel and not scratching, I must admit that makes things a lot easier. Her food and sleep is a bit odd but understandably so Smile

I talked to M's HV yesterday about her CP, and she worried me a bit after I told her I was pg, as she said I needed to see my doctor and get some medication Confused That's proving a bit hard as at the surgery they told me to contact the MW team directly and when I called there was an answering machine only Hmm Still waiting for a call-back

Off to have some lunch Smile

Waves!

June2009 · 05/01/2011 14:50

Happy Birthday Venetian are you doing anything special for it? hope you liked your drawing from dd, so cute :D I can't wait for gestures like that from C.!
bigcar any news from panel?
snow I'm always up for trying a new recipe, if you get a minute to write it down that'd be fab please! 2 sleeping children, bliss (I bet that didn't last very long/ long enough ;)) Hope you are recovering from birth, how are you doing?

I had a thought for Louise today, remember her she was on the antenatal thread dh reminded me I had told him about louise's fab present from someone, ready-made meals for a month or something. Sounded lovely, I wonder how she is doing now.
Some friends bought us a meal as a present, wondering whether to take C or not, we still have not left her with anyone other than the nursery.

one question, where do we start with potty training?

C is up so better be off!

take care juners

bigcar · 05/01/2011 18:32

happy birthday venetian, hope you've had a good day Smile

good news, panel have agreed to consult the school we want, it's not guaranteed at all but I'm over the moon Grin is how I look right now!!!!!! Grin Grin Grin

Oh, Bigcar, soooooo pleased for you!!! We shall continue with everything crossed then Smile Do you know how long it'll take them to consult the school and come back with an answer? Aw, such great news! Grin Grin Grin

June2009 · 05/01/2011 22:09

hey bigcar there's progress at least, joining you in the GrinGrin

June2009 · 07/01/2011 13:29

heya, it's friday yay! we haven't actually got anything planned this weekend, probably softplay at some point! we found a decent one not too far, one that is not a rip off either!

Do any of your dhs ever do the "early shift" with the children? the only day i ask dh to get up early is on saturdays when i like to go to a work out class that starts at 9:30. i still get up at 6 or 7 when baby gets up so why do i feel bad asking??

it's been good getting back into a routine, work nursery playgroups etc.

bigcar i hope the schoolrun wasn't too much of a drag.

C. did not want to go back to nursery on wed. but she was fine thurs. topday she was asking to go ( she doesn't go on fridays).

hope everyone is well, venetian did you get rid of the worms? sounds ghastly, hope it's over.

gauchita are you over the flu and M.over her CP?

some of the threads on chat have been hilarious, i wish i had more time :)

catch up soon!

AllSheepareWhite · 08/01/2011 11:48

Belated Happy Birthday to you Venetian, I hope you have managed to reduce if not eradicate the dreaded worms.

Great news Bigcar, will cross my fingers and toes that all goes your way :)

Gauchita - try not to worry yourself about HV comments, if you have had CP already you will be immune, it is only if you have not or are unsure that you should worry and even then it is rare that it will cause problems for the baby.

June - yay Friday! My DH does early shift all week as I go to work, but I am up just as early anyway as leave for work at 7am. I do early shifts on weekends too as I look forward the time I get to spend with N that I miss out on in the week, but DH does look after N while I get an afternoon nap in if I am really knackered.

Snow - glad to hear Z is a bit better and that you got a few hours sleep in a row :)

Well back at work this week and we have all managed ok so I am hoping that all continues to go so smoothly.

Catch you all soon x
