A starter for 10 on our Sept 2010 babies as their first Christmas comes nearer! Can't believe we're there already; I was barely pregnant last Xmas!

Morning everyone, we had such a shit night with Grace last night. She woke up 3 times between 9 ish and 12. finally settled at 12 and woke up at 2.30. Was back in bed by 3.40 and woke up at 7. She was sick twice in the night and we had to change her bedding and she woke up choking this morning. I know some of you ae still doing a few night feeds every night but i'm really not used to getting so little sleep. I'm honestly not rubbing it in but Grace has slept through since about 7 weeks and im exhausted this morning. She's deffinately teething, i think she's got a cold and i'm starting to think we're going through that 4 month sleep regression as well Sad

Hope everyone had a better night than i did!

JodeyLea i am very very jealous of your mamouth sleep!!

Has anyone heard from Sassy? How did the move go?

sassy34264 · 10/01/2011 09:12

Morning, just a quick one before i go! We moved all the stuff yesterday and i was suppose to go last night. My mum had taken the day off today, to help me re-erect wardrobes and unpack etc, so i thought it would make more sense to stay here for one more night and let her take DD to school etc. The only reason we are moving now, is because i have no way of getting DD to school from my mum's now; the house isn't ready properly yet. The bathroom is fine, the kitchen is in, but the solid worktops need treating, so can't use it much. (will have to wash up in bath, until dishwater lands) No bedroom has a carpet yest or downstairs and the floorboard rooms have been sanded but not stained yet! EEk. We will be living in one room, downstairs and 1 rrom upstairs. Who'd be me???? I ask you. Ha. All the room (except babies' room has only had one coat of paint too......so i think i'll be busy. The heating works though and my new rangemaster cooker. yeah. Anyway, got to go and get ready now for when mum gets back from dropping off DD. So excited!! Will miss you all. xxxx
Smile Bye. x

Ha, so many typos!!!!!! Head is in a spin!!!!

Debs75 · 10/01/2011 09:59

Sassy enjoy your new homeSmile

We've got Lucy a bumbo and she can sir in it for about 5 mins before getting annoyed, dd2 loves it but gets stuck, i think that is why she likes it.

Do any of you use a bedside cot? if you do do you use a specific one or have you just tsken one side off?

JessemyParkson · 10/01/2011 10:16

Morning everyone :)

I am getting seriously tempted by these bumbos everyone keeps talking about... Mary's always trying to sit up, even in her baby-bouncer.

debs I was given a mothercare portland crib, which is like a mini cot. It's ok for up to 6 months, or until they are crawling/pulling themselves up.

sassy I don't envy you the move, but I have the horrible feeling I'll be facing one myself in about 6 months! Good luck, and hope to hear from you soon x

JessemyParkson · 10/01/2011 10:17

Also, where is the meet-up planned for?

Mary 14+6

JodeyLea · 10/01/2011 11:40

Harlyn will sit in his bumbo for about 30 seconds before getting grumpy. Maybe he is still a little young for it though it is for 3 months plus. Will keep trying.

sassy & Jessemy, we too have just started to view houses and hope to move by the summer. At the mo, we just can't agree on what we want. I want a family home that doesn't need much work done to it but has the potential to extend to add value but my DH want something that needs a lot of work doing to it so that the value has a bigger increase. We will just have to keep looking and try and find something middle ground.

Newmum i know how you feel. Harlyn has always been a great sleeper at night (rubbish in the day) and for a couple of weeks recently he started waking up at 3 and again at 6 which was a real shock to the system as although i was used to having light sleep and waking at the slightest noise, I wasn't used to actually having to get up and comfort/feed him for an hour or so. I was so tired and miserable particularly because he cat naps during the day for 15/20 mins meaning I couldn't catch up. Hope she starts sleeping like an angel again soon.

saoirse86 · 10/01/2011 13:02

jodeylea I know it's a bit different as I was only pg at the time, but we bought a house that needs a lot of cosmetic work (generally all looks a bit 1991 inside!) but didn't need anything major. I think it's worked better for us because we were easily able to move in without worrying about work to do and got it reasonably cheap.

I have a bumbo for Orlaith and she'll sit in it for anywhere between 2 and 25 minutes depending on her mood!

Orlaith's gone back to waking twice in the night but I don't find it too bad. I think it's because the good long sleeps only lasted about 10 days so didn't have long enough to get used to them.

I was going to say I was talking to a man the other day whose boy is 4 1/2 months and he said he doesn't sleep well normally but he takes him swimming some evenings and he'll sleep for 14 hours! I'm going to brave a swimsuit this weel I think!! Grin

mellymooks · 10/01/2011 13:48

Hello lovelies, I cannot believe the speed of this thread!! I'm really struggling to keep up so apologies for not being able to comment on all that's going on, watersprite it sounds like a total nightmare, I'm so glad she is on the mend, big hugs xxxx

Thanks to everyone who looked and commented on my other thread DD has improved lots over the past week so here's hoping the worst is over...(for now!!)

Flynn is also a giant in quite a few 9-12 month baby grows!! Sleep is still rubbish, he never goes longer than 3 hours between feeds so my night times are a bit like this:

Go to bed with him around 10pm and feed, then he wakes at 1am and 4am then again from 6am where he grazes on and off til around 8am then he goes back to sleep for a couple of hours, but I have to get up as DP off to work, it's starting to take it's toll on me now having only had a maximum chunk of 3 hours sleep for almost 4 months!! Thank God I'm co-sleeping as I would probably be a puddle on the floor by now if i was actually having to get up out of my cosy bed!!

Going to see the Doc tomorrow to get my lady bits checked as they still don't seem right, am very nervous, hate anything medical - is a miracle I have given birth to 2 babies Wink

cinnamongreyhound · 10/01/2011 13:56

In Birmingham JessemyParkson, Saoirse86 works in a pub there that we can have to ourselves until 5pm whichever day we decide to do it.

patito · 10/01/2011 14:08

Hi

Just done a mommath catch-up, don´t know if Im a slow reader or what but it takes me ages to catch up.

Glad to hear that our little ones are doing better.

Dont remember who posted about little-christmas, but the 6th is celebrated here, infact its the day you give/recieve presents, so we had the PILS over from Wed-Sat. All went well and infact was a great help as Maia still isn´t better. She´s doing really green poos, has a hacking cough and keeps being sick. Is it the time of yr or a month dip in immune system???

Otherwise shes a little tropper, I think I might get a bumbo, will have to check if Amazon sell them as then I can have it delievered and not try and lug it back on plane (with buggy/car seat etc).

By the way pushchair lovers, I need some advice I want to get a new pushchair, something light weight, small frame, and easily callopsable. Any ideas/recommendations.

beaditAli · 10/01/2011 14:59

Monster amount of posts to catch up! chelle you've gone quiet! Wedding dress shopping??? Grin
Just been to a Sure Start centre with Jack and my friend and her lo Daisy. The sensory room had them both mesmerized so am going to look for some sort of spinning light projector thingy.
patito we have a chunky but very good off roader Mamas and Papas Sport 03 so I've just bought an Urbo on ebay for £100 which looks sooooper light weight. Will have to wait and see how good it is but I'll re-sell it on ebay if I don't get along with it. I couldn't find a lighter weight/forward facing one. Also, a few friends have mamas and papas Sola and love them! Not too many on ebay tho Sad
So tired now so am going to slump on the sofa under my duvet Smile

JessemyParkson · 10/01/2011 16:03

Envy beaditAli I wish I could have a sofa/duvet session!

I've just got DS from school, and Mary to entertain, and then tea to start, and then DH to pick up at 5 Confused !

Thanks cinnamon Birmingham is great!

comixminx · 10/01/2011 16:16

Hi all, nearly time for a new thread, isn't it! I'll do one tonight even though we still have a few posts in hand, is that ok with everyone?

Well, I've just come back in after a nice fresh walk in some bits of Oxford that I didn't know. I'm sure you're not "meant" to spend your mat leave with a baby strapped to you wandering round wee footpaths by yourself, but hey, it works for me! And it counteracts the lovely peaceful duvet session I had this morning Grin...

patito I have an Oyster pushchair, which was recommended by Which? - it's very good but might not meet your needs as it's not that lightweight, and while you can fold it it's not as easy as it might be. So one for to not go for, I expect...

A new series of One Born Every Minute starts tonight! Think the last series started on the day I did my pregnancy test - I remember loving watching it when I was preggrs! Wonder if it'll still seem as fascinating to me sans buns in oven? I remember watching one show where the mum had a water birth and thinking "that's what I want this time round" - little did I know it'd be twins again (and breech again)!

bellabelly · 10/01/2011 17:10

comixminx, that sounds like a perfect way to spend mat leave. The sling thing is one of the frustrations of twindom - I have a bad back so no way am I going to buy one of the twin slings but I do envy you beig able to just pop your one in a sling and leave the buggy at home.

Dixiebell · 10/01/2011 17:16

Hi all. Arlo a bit out of sorts today. He woke earlier than usual, and has been feeding so much today, and crying hysterically when not feeding. Napped a bit. Wonder if it could be a growth spurt, he doesn't seem to be ill, and is feeding well..?

I have started putting him to bed a lot earlier - in fact was down by 6pm the last few nights as he just seemed so tired. Unfortunately whereas before he was sleeping 10.30 - 7.30ish or even later, now I am getting up at least once if not more in the night to feed. Wondering whether I should attempt a dream feed at 10.30 in the hope he'd sleep through the rest of the night. Anyone else do this?

14 weeks today

beaditAli · 10/01/2011 17:27

Dixie hope Arlo is ok. I can't figure Jack's feeding out at all! He's VERY random!
We did do dream feeds for a while but soon realized that he'd wake at 3.30am if we did a dream feed or not so we stopped and he sleeps from 8pm to 3.30am then about 4am to 7am. On a lucky day he'll sleep til 8/9am Grin
You could try a dream feed. He'll not wake up so don't worry about scooping him up out of his slumber! Smile
J will no doubt conk out soon as he's only had 2x 10 min naps since 8am Shock
Really looking forward to the One Born Every Minute programme but why does it have to start at 9pm?? Sad

clumsymumluckybaby · 10/01/2011 17:33

any of you lot live in cambridge Hmm

clumsymumluckybaby · 10/01/2011 17:45

oh patio you want a either:

bugaboo bee or bee+
a maclaren (tecno xt) or
baby jogger city mini (super easy fold!)

you can probably find them cheaper than that, and i can find you you tube clips if you'd like Grin

clumsymumluckybaby · 10/01/2011 17:49

oh melly im so glad youre back! and that your DD is feeling better, poor love.

im trying to work out when im avalible for the meet up,it has coinsided horribly with my sister coming over from taiwan and a doula course im trying to get on (it's all a bit of a fiasco!)
but i'll be there if i can!Grin

mellymooks · 10/01/2011 17:57

hey clumsy good to see you too! I'm also not sure if I'll be able to make the meetup, will depend when it ends up happening and if I can organise childcare (for DD) and staying with the inlaws for the night etc etc but would love to make it.

saoirse86 · 10/01/2011 18:19

patito I knew clumsy would be along soon with her pushchair knowledge! I love the urbo but looked at reviews and there are a couple of very common faults with the handle and front swivel wheels which put me off. I also have the oyster but have only had for 5 days! What about the babystyle quicksmart ? Very cheap, light and small but a bit funny looking! Grin

Orlaith had her 2nd jabs today and has been really odd since, very jumpy and her eyes keep rolling back in her head, then suddenly she's fine again Confused

dixie no advice on dream feeds here, Orlaith only does awake feeds or nothing. I've never got her to do a dream feed.

bella I think we'll enjoy one born every minute even without our bumps! Apparently in this series there'a woman who has triplets by emcs and her DH was stuck in traffic so a cameraman stepped in a birth partner Shock ! When I told DP about this he said he was jealous of her DH and wished he was stuck in traffic, bastard! I didn't think I was that bad!
Can I be really cheeky bella (and feel free to ignore me) but I'm intrigued to know whether you conceived 2 sets of twins with fertility treatment or are you just super fertile?! Grin

(I'm going to stop talking now before I take over this thread!)

Orlaith, 15 weeks 3 days, 14lb 10oz

saoirse86 · 10/01/2011 18:45

cinnamon I just saw the video of Luke, he's so cute! And he looks soooo long!

cinnamongreyhound · 10/01/2011 19:16

I think that sounds great comixminx! You are bonding with your baby, relaxing and exposing her to culture- what else should you do with maternity leave!

Dixiebell we were talking about this a while ago, when chelle1986 was putting her Olly to bed earlier. I said then that it never worked for my boys but Bananastew and I think MammyG both recommended it. I tried it with ds1 and the book I had with him said if it doesn't help after 3 nights it won't ever. It totally screwed up him sleep, he went from only waking once between 1 and 4 to being up almost every 2 hours. When I stopped the dream feed he went straight back to normal. Only tried one night with Luke and he was awake 1hr later so I decided he didn't take enough milk and it wasn't worth persevering.

Totally agree beaditAli, I was thinking about an early night after a busy weekend but then I saw that one born every minute was on. May have to be a 4OD job tomorrow!

I live close to Cambridge clumsymumluckybaby I worked there for nearly 9 years. Someone else does live there but I am very Blush that I can't remember who! Someone suggested we could also try the meet up in March if that suits, can add it to the doodle thingy if enough people want to do that?

Mellymooks I'm planning to bring ds1 with me I assumed others would be bringing their older children too?

saoirse86 he is on the 98th centile for length so I guess he is long and of course he is EXTREMELY cute Wink
