A starter for 10 on our Sept 2010 babies as their first Christmas comes nearer! Can't believe we're there already; I was barely pregnant last Xmas!

Missed your post mapletrees, so far we are planning a meet up Birmingham at a pub saoirse86 works in that's closed to public until 5 so we can have it to ourselves. Not decided if it's weekday or weekend and some want to bring oh's others not. Oh and sometime in feb, think that's it so far.

bananastew · 06/01/2011 20:23

On the Oh subject, I won't bring mine if no one else is! I'll make him sit in the car or something! Grin

Thanks sassy I'm the winner! Whoop Whoop!

cinnamongreyhound · 06/01/2011 20:35

Don't know if anyone has ever used doodle before but we used to use it or arranging dates for meetings so thought we could give it a try. Everyone enters the dates that suit to find the best date for all. Here's the one I created www.doodle.com/x5473sxi72h25qhv you just click on what you can do. Will post in facebook group too.

banana - I give my Olly gripe water when he hasnt been or looks like he cant get it out! Works really well - he has 5ml from a syringe when he's finished his bottle and normally poo's a few hours later.

saoirse86 · 06/01/2011 21:54

banana I wouldn't worry too much about the pooing unless it continues. Orlaith tends to go once a day but sometimes it's 3-4 times a day and sometimes she'll miss a day.
I do give her water too. At first she'd only take it if it was hard water (which meant I had to give it to her at my nans because we have very soft water) and she'd only take 1/2oz. Now she'll happily drink our soft water and takes 3-5oz.

mammy you actually made me laugh at loud like a lunatic with your d-section talk! Grin

welcome back monstermuncher !

If we do want to do it at the pub (and I'm still more than happy if anyone doesn't want to meet there or in birmingham) the only days I know we couldn't go are sat 12th feb and tues 15th feb because birmingham city are playing at home and the pub's open and very busy with blues fans!
I'll call my boss tomorrow to check if there are any other days not available. Shall I check march too? March dates I know won't be ok are sat 5th march because of a match and sun 13th march because it's st patrick's day parade - very exciting but also very hectic!

saoirse86 · 06/01/2011 22:07

Ooh and 17th march is out as it's actually st patrick's day.

MammyG · 06/01/2011 23:17

Hi all,
Over here its little xmas today, or more importantly womens xmas. Traditionally its a day off for women after all the work they have put in over the holidays. I had a lovely meal out this eve with 3 other women. The restaurant was filled with women all on their night off. then off to the pub for 2 and a natter. Town was buzzing today with all the ladies out on lunch too. Its such a great day! So just wanted to wish you all Happy womens xmas!

Lost this thread as haven't posted for so long! Happy new year everyone, will catch up with what's been happening now Smile

newmum001 · 07/01/2011 10:02

Morning all, we've had a rough couple of days and im exhausted!! Grace is teething and seems to be so uncomfortable and grouchy!! Normally she'll go to bed at 9ish which gives me a bit of time to watch tv and chill for a bit but the last 2 nights she's been up till 11.30 and been a nightmare cause she's tired etc so i've had absolutely no time to just relax for the last 2 days and it's doing my head in, daytime naps are screwed as well and Calpol, teething gel, teething powder etc are not helping! The poor thing she's not a happy bunny at all!

Anyway on a brighter note, ive booked my first driving lesson for 28th January. Im so nervous but also really excited. I can't believe i've left it so long to learn.

Also i know it's really off topic but what do ppl usually eat for lunch. I'm getting really bored with sandwiches and soup but im struggling to come up with quick tasty things.

saoirse86 · 07/01/2011 10:45

newmum TBH I often make extra dinner at night and put some in the fridge for lunch the next day - definitely not exciting!

Orlaith's driving me mad with being sick after every feed, and often just randomly between feeds. It's such varying amount, usually I'd guess about 1/2oz but sometimes it seems like it's her whole feed! I don't get it. beadit if you find out any reasons for it except for them just being babies, please let me know!

saoirse86 · 07/01/2011 10:46

mammyG that's such a good idea, I wish we had it too!

newmum001 · 07/01/2011 10:55

Saoirse Grace was like this a few weeks ago, she was constantly sick, not always a lot but sometimes loads so i took her to the doctor. She was already on Infant Gaviscon for reflux but they put her on something called Ranitidine as well and she's not been sick at all since. Maybe take her to HV or doctors and see what they say.

Your lunches sound a lot more exciting than mine, there is zero excitment to be had whilst eating a ham sandwich which is what i usually have!!

saoirse86 · 07/01/2011 11:30

Grin newmum maybe try cheese!!

She's got her second set of jabs on Monday so I'll ask about the sicky thing then. I've just read about reflux and it does sound like it might be that. I thought reflux was upsetting for babies but Orlaith rarely seems to notice. Often I don't even notice it's happened unless I notice it on her top.

bananastew · 07/01/2011 11:46

You'll all be pleased to know Olly has pooed! I think he's just lost 3lb! seriously NEVER seen anything like that & He regularly "Fills" his nappy! Smile

newmum sorry you've been having a rough time. Hope Grace is better soon. As far as lunch is concerned we have sandwiches, wraps, toast, eggy bread, pasta salad, that kind of thing. We're into making our own pizza at the minute with toast, ketchup, cheese & whatever else is in the fridge!
Hope the driving goes well, I'd be lost without my car!

Saoirse ds1 had gaviscon too. That worked wonders!

Well, speaking of lunch, better go and make some! we're going to my sil this afternoon! Its too log a story but she's the biggest pita ever & I really don't particualarly like her! Apologies in advance for the rant I'll probably have tonight!

beaditAli · 07/01/2011 13:00

Go Olly! A 3lb poo..... that deserves a medal I'm sure! Grin
saoirse Jack has been better the last couple of days but does still bring up a couple of little sicks between feeds. Glad it didn't last as I'm short of clean clothes for me at the best of times!
newmum Oh....... sounds like the old days. Hopefully it's just a phase and won't last too long. Smile
Jack hasn't pooed for 2 days either! Just stripped him from the waist and put a carrier bag under his bum so I can fold anything away swiftly. He is loving just beating the crap out of the plastic with his feet!
He's started using his tongue more to speak which makes his old gurgles sound something more like little words which is just gorgeous!
When did anyone decide it was the right time to have a 2nd/3rd baby? I don't know why but every day the thought that I have to know when is the right time is always on my mind. It's really anoying me but I can't shake it off! Always thought I would have more than one but how do you do the first 8 weeks all over again?? Shock
Lunch today was left over thai green curry and rice but yesterday it was half a bag of marshmallows and about 12 after eights! Blush

beaditAli · 07/01/2011 13:11

aNnoying even!

comixminx · 07/01/2011 13:16

newmum I also often eat the previous night's food as leftovers the next lunchtime - quick and easy! We often have stew-y, sloppy stuff so it ends up like a very hearty soup that I have with bread or toast. Or - sometimes I go out to a nearby cafe where I know I can bf and where Aphra can people-watch! It's quite sociable too cos there are other parents with babies who go. Can't do it too often though as it would add up price-wise of course...

beaditAli, I also am wondering about that. I'm an older mum (turned 40 before I had Aphra) so if we do want a second we'd better crack on - but a) I wouldn't want the age difference to be too small, b) the thought of having two little people to look after is pretty daunting! We're aware that it might not happen given age, and if not we'll be stoical about it I think, but it's still something to think about and plan for at some point.

Aphra 18 + 1

Sorry about all the posts but thought some of you might Shock at this:
Jack had 6oz at 6pm last night then slept for 15 hours with a feed at 3am then another nappy change at 7am. He then wasn't hungry til 12 noon today! He's gonna be so skinny...... Hmm

JessemyParkson · 07/01/2011 13:34

Oops, forgot!

clumsymumluckybaby · 07/01/2011 13:35

as for age gap, ours just happened (i had an implant Hmm wouldnt recommend them btw)

but from experiance,id say it would have been better if dd was at nursery at least some of the time...
so if you can afford to put them into a nursery then a tiny age gap is fine,if not,i'd wait until the older child qualify's for the free childcare vouchers and are in nursery 3 days a week...that would be heaven ...
if fact so much so we are bugeting tonight to see if we can squeeze an extra £50 a week (for two sessions)out of dp's wages/savingsBlush

as for the sick,id always though it was normal, and as long as they are putting on weight and not in pain,i wouldnt rush to put them on any meds.i hated giving them to dd,put she screamed in pain all day long,Arlo however, pukes all the time, but doesnt seem to mind, and is in 6-9 clothes (he's really long!) so i certainly wont be medicating him...it is a PITA though,i hate washing so many clothes!! grrr

arlo is still really ill,the coughing is really bad, going to the doctor tomorow about it,as he's been ill for ages nowSad

does any one know why maria-annwas in hospital!? is she okay?

clumsymumluckybaby · 07/01/2011 13:36

hi park! how you?!Grin

clumsymumluckybaby · 07/01/2011 13:38

(i used to be skyeplusbump btw Grin

JessemyParkson · 07/01/2011 13:41

Happy!

I'm so happy, well, I can't stop smiling!

Mary's had such a positive effect on me, that even cleaning up poo-shoots from her nappy to her hair, I'm ecstatic lol Grin

She's crazy-advanced, considering she's 3 months old. I had to start her on solids at 11 weeks as she drained me flat by mid-afternoon. And she's trying to sit up in her bouncy chair, and ends up making herself sick!

I don't remember DS ever trying that.

Give me 5 miins and I'll add some pics of her to my profile...

sassy34264 · 07/01/2011 13:54

Well, i'm no good to ask about an age gap!!!! I think 10 years might be a bit to long for you comixminx! I think most people have 18m-3yrs gap. I sway daily between wanting more and not. As does DP. I think deep down though that it isn't the best idea, and 3 is probably enough. Smile

Hellooooooo jessemy formerly parkj83. I was wondering if you would reappear. Welcome back. Glad all is well with you and Mary. xxx
