A starter for 10 on our Sept 2010 babies as their first Christmas comes nearer! Can't believe we're there already; I was barely pregnant last Xmas!

Can I join the falling with babies club? Wink When Louis was about 6 or 7 weeks I tripped on some clothes on the bedroom floor while I was holding him. Somehow I managed to twist and redirect myself on the way down so we landed on the bed but I caught my leg on a big wooden box on the way and gave myself a giant lump/bruise. Louis didn't cry at all and DP was just standing there watching us while I yelled at him to "take the baby". He thought I'd flopped onto the bed on purpose and couldn't understand my pain-fuelled panic (I wasn't sure if I'd hurt Louis too).

Hope Arlo gets better soon clumsy Smile

Dixiebell · 06/01/2011 01:16

Good to know I'm not the only one dropping my baby, thanks guys :). I definitely came off worse, and my ear looks like I've been in a fight...!

On another note, I have expressed for the first time now and omg, the milk! I mean of course I know it's milk that's been making Arlo get so big, but it's really amazing to see it there in front of me, iykwim?! Aren't our bodies clever?! :)

Dixiebell · 06/01/2011 01:17

Ps Arlo sends get well soon vibes to his namesake, clumsy

sassy34264 · 06/01/2011 01:31

Oh god, I wasn't going to say but we had an incident with Jacob this week. I latch them on lying down now at night-time and i tend to drop off, while they're feeding. Because Jacob can roll now and his side is open (Isobel's side is against the wall) i put the covers tucked up behind him and then pillows. Anyway, I feel asleep and when i woke up, he had finished so i went to put him back in his cot. I moved the pillows and pulled the covers back.......and promptly fell back asleep. I awoke to a big thud and a cry! I snatched him up off the floor and both me and DP were frantically looking him over for signs of damage (mum has wood flooring). He stopped crying before i did. I was hugging Jacob and DP was hugging me. I was convinced his nose was broke. It's about 4am in the morning and i'm saying to DP, 'His nose looks flatter than normal, oh god, oh god, is it broke? Sad

Hope you are ok dixiebell. And sorry to hear about your incident beaditali, unfortunately these things happen. I remember my first trip to a and e with Chloe. She was about 2yrs and fell of the side of a leather couch, straight onto the firelace hearth on her head, with a twisted neck......I was soooooo hysterical. Blush

Sorry you have to go back to work so soon mammyg I think i'd be down too. And you don't have to tell me about after hours working in education. I taught in a college and the marking was horrendous.

Isobel has a nasty cough too clumsy although she seems unperturbed. I hate it when they are ill so young, cos they don't understand what is wrong and why they are suffering. It's a bloody shame. Hope he and others that are suffering are better soon. xxx

bananastew · 06/01/2011 08:56

You've all just reminded me I nearly drowned Ds1 the 1st time we went swimming! He was about 10wks. I was walking backwards with him and lost my footing! I panicked & although the water was shallow enough for me to kneel, I went under, desperately holding ds1 up to stop him going under too. It didn't work! He was introduced to underwater swimming quite dramatically! Dh had to rescue us! I hate to think what would have happened if he wasn't there cos the life guard didn't even notice!!!

sassy34264 · 06/01/2011 10:49

Not to be like your friend off facebook bananastew Grin, but we've had a near drowning accident! We were on holiday in Greece- Me, DD and DP (the same DP has now) DD was 2 yrs again and me and her were sat at the side of the pool, with our legs dangling in the water. I was facing forward, blowing up arm bands and rings. Next minute this woman is shouting 'she's in the water' I turned to the side of me and DD wasn't there, i looked into the water and she was deep deep down! The woman is trying to grap her from the side.....I jumps in with my clothes and glasses on and pulls her up. She is screaming her head off, i'm blubbering and shaking like a leaf and DP continues to snore his head off on the sun lounger, none the bloody wiser. (i bet they thought we were right Clampets.
I said to woman ' i didn't hear her' She said 'she didn't make a sound, just slipped off.' Confused

comixminx · 06/01/2011 11:19

Hi all! Blimey, I know we often say the thread's moving fast but do you realise we've only got another 150-odd posts before we reach 1000 again? What a rate of knots we go at!

I can't join in the baby-dropping stories Grin but I'm paranoid about such stuff and play possible scenes in my mind even though they haven't happened iyswim... I know intellectually that at some point Aphra will need to go to hospital or will have some sort of accident - can hardly be avoided after all - but emotionally I can't imagine bearing it... She's got eczema at the backs of her knees right now which is bad enough cos it looks sore (though she doesn't seem to mind actually), and she's had a pimply rash on her torso which I think is down to Mum's detergent, so I've re-washed all her clothes. I worry that the eczema is down to something I've done or not done too... Well, am off to the GP's tomorrow so let's see.

clumsy I saw your post about wanting to train to be a doula - good for you! I imagine you've already got contacts but if you want me to pass on contact details for the doula I had for Aphra's birth then just say...

Aphra 18 weeks today

I was looking for our list the other day and I don't think we brought it over to this thread. Do you think we could make a new one? I know we are all writing age but it's nice to see them in order. If you don't want to just ignore it!

Are there any here who aren't in the facebook group? We are discussing a meet up there so if you're not on it just shout!

Water is terrifying but so much fun! Was very glad when ds1 learned to hold his breath felt a bit safer. DH doesn't want to go swimming with all three kids and just us as he wants there to be one each of us for them even though dss is 9 and can swim perfectly well on his own and ds1 is very capable with his noodle. Might try to persuade him to go this weekend as dss isn't with us.

So here's the list if anyone wants to join as I'm not sure how to find the old thread.

Found it. Not sure if you want to cut, paste and delete or whether it is easier just starting a new one. I'll let you decide cinnamon. (cos i know i haven't got the patience!)

Monstermuncher · 06/01/2011 17:10

Hello all, can I rejoin you? I posted a teeny bit on the ante natal thread, but haven't been back since. I can't believe Sam is almost 4 months old now! It has taken me a little while to read all of your posts, here's us in a nutshell .. Sam is still a hungry baby, he is now ff but I too am considering the early weaning. He is showing signs of teething but I can't feel anythingon his gums yet. We have pretty much no routine and he is nowhere near sleeping through the night yet. Its all very different to how it was with DD but its fab, I love having 2 children and it is lovely to see how they interact with each other :)

sassy34264 · 06/01/2011 18:10

Hello monstermuncher Welcome back.

We need to add newmum (if we haven't pissed scared her off) and viki (can't remember her mumsnet name. (and monstermuncher now as well Smile )

clumsymumluckybaby · 06/01/2011 18:41

Chelle1986 · 06/01/2011 18:44

sassy34264 · 06/01/2011 19:16

DD's birthday is 30th August debs75 and i thought she would be thee youngest in that year. But twins were born on the same day as her and a little girl called georgia was born on the 31st and they were all in her class.

Isn't it wierd though how we all had EDD in september and yet our babies spanned 4 months!!!!

bananastew · 06/01/2011 19:44

4 months!!! thats crazy!

Olly may get to the to of a list at school on his surname! Adland!

Sassy you have to go one better don't you Grin Although I can almost compete, In turkey last year ds1 was in an inflatable car & my dad was swimming underneath him. He was turning round each way to see him & managed to tip himself head 1st into the water! I was screaming at my day but he was under water. My mum was the other side of the pool! By the time dad came up for air & realised what had happened he'd been under for a whole 15 seconds 5 minutes!! so!!

Olly's not had a poo for 48 hours. he normally goes at least daily. Anyone else having any problems? What can I do? I've tried water but he'll only take 1/2oz! My Dr obsessed friend says go to the dr tomorrow but I think thats a bit drastic!

mapletrees · 06/01/2011 19:49

You weren't forgotten clumsy - just still under your old name. As if they could forget you Wink.

I'm not on facebook guys so please let me know what's being planned...

We bought Louis a swim nappy in the sales. I'm really looking forward to taking him (and trying not to get scared by the nearly drowning stories Grin)

sassy34264 · 06/01/2011 20:10

Sorry maplestrees!

You win bananastew I only have 1 nearly drowning story Grin (thank god)
Yeah, lovetodance had her little boy (raphael, i think) in July, myself, debs and you had August babies, the majority were sept and then jodey8 and dixiebell* were in October.

I was told to give DD pure orange watered down in a bottle with water for her constipation, but i recall it didn't work. If you are breast feeding, you could take senokat and he will get it. (they gave it me, when me and DD hadn't pooed post labour and it works) Whatever you do, don't accept a tablet to put up his bum. I did this with DD and imho this is why she is still on medication for constipation now........long story.

cinnamongreyhound · 06/01/2011 20:11

Luke goes every 6-10 days bananastew so wouldn't worry although he is bf. Baby yoga is supposed to help them have a bowl movement as the lady says on my DVD! You can find bits on you tube if you look up baby massage colic.

It's always busy when I'm away!!!!

Yes I did think about newmum001 but didn't know all details. You're right chelle1986 she is immotperfect, not been here for a while though.
