A starter for 10 on our Sept 2010 babies as their first Christmas comes nearer! Can't believe we're there already; I was barely pregnant last Xmas!

OP posts:

It makes me laugh cause all my friends keep txting saying can i come round for a cuddle and feel like txting back saying you'll be lucky, can i offer you a headbutt instead!

clumsymumluckybaby · 07/01/2011 20:45

arlo is held pretty much 24/7 as was dd,but she doesnt want cuddles anymore,so i know what you mean..she'd happily wander off with anyone who had cakeGrin
and yesterday she proclaimed very seriously "my doohin school now, mine big girl now."

It's a good job that being a mummy isn't just about cuddles and food then bananastew!! Even if you bf your baby can always get milk from somewhere else, not exactly the same but it will sustain them. It made me feel really sad when I read your post, you should never feel like that! I bet you will have the biggest of all smiles and he will follow your voice around. Not all babies are cuddly, doesn't mean they don't love mummy.

Was just reading back over the thread and saw your message about Jack feeding beaditAli. Luke had a feed at 6.30pm, then 11pm, 5am, 10am (slept 6.30-8.15 apart from eating) and 2pm. I don't know how much he's getting each time but doesn't sound hugely different?

sassy34264 · 07/01/2011 21:40

Awh bananastew you took me back 10 years. Chloe was the least cuddly baby, but i didn't take her on and cuddled her anyway! She had no choice in the matter. Luckily these two love it. Chloe became affectionate eventually though, don't know if that's cos of me or whether she would have got there anyway.

I'm not a mess down there thanks to two c-sections, but my stomach is a right mess!!! Hopefully we will both improve in time. xxx

mapletrees · 07/01/2011 22:17

watersprite How totally scary and horrible for you. So glad Maria-Ann is on the mend.

Welcome back Jessemy, was wondering where you'd got to..

newmum Grin at the headbutt. I get more thumps and scratches from Louis when he's not getting what he wants (my own fault for being shite at cutting his nails).

Hope everything goes smoothly with the move sassy. Get back online soon - we will miss you.

newmum001 · 07/01/2011 22:29

I hate cutting Grace's nails too i've had to step it up a bit recently as she keeps scratching her face (she won't wear mittens) i've tried filing them or even biting them off but she's such a fidget it's difficult no matter how we do it.

I'm thinking of getting one of those Bumbo things, has anyone got one? Are they any good?

sassy34264 · 07/01/2011 23:33

cinnamon ok, will inbox you on facebook. The weaning is going good. I made it a bit thicker yesterday (not purposely) and Isobel seemed to suffer a bit with passing wind/poo, so made it runnier today....no probs so far. Jacob cried between mouthfuls, if i took too long! (I beginning to think food is going to be a big thing in his life)

Dixiebell · 08/01/2011 03:18

newmum, we just got a bumbo. It is great because can have Arlo facing us and play with things. It has a little tray which we can put toys on and he is just starting to grab and hold things. Great for avoiding pressure on his little flat head! He only goes in it for 5 mins or so at a time but I reckon as he gets older and better able to play with things he'll enjoy it more.

Arlo - 13 + 5

Dixiebell · 08/01/2011 03:26

Re lunch, yesterday I had a sandwich of Laughing Cow and pickled onions followed by a load of Green & Blacks white chocolate :) (no, I'm not pregnant again!). Day before leftover stew. I do miss the lunches I used to have at work - unfortunately there's no EAT or Wasabi round here for toasted sandwiches or sushi!

JessemyParkson · 08/01/2011 09:52

Lunch?! Pfft, every time I even think about lunch, Mary wakes up from her morning nap and hogs me till 1.30-2ish. By which point I consider myself lucky if I manage a piece of toast, or a packet of crisps, or more usually, nothing!

chelle I've sent you a friend request... Jessie Parker. My pic is Mary yawning :o

Chelle1986 · 08/01/2011 16:16

jessemy i've accepted you and added you to the fb group.

everyone on fb - please add jessemy from the group list. xxx

JodeyLea · 08/01/2011 19:12

Just spent ages trying to catch up again. Been so busy.

watersprite so glad your LO is on the mend. Must have been such a terrifying experience for you and your partner.

Right, Bananastew my friend (who's baby had severe colic) told me to try the baby rice as she was advised it by her HV (my HV is rather hopeless) so thought I would give it ago. We have already tried Infacol, gripe water and Colief drops as well as changing his milk to C&G Comfort. His colic episodes are down to around two a day lasting about 15 mins each so it's defo getting better as before it was hours. I've stopped using all previous meds and now only use Colic Calm just when the symptoms start. I will have to to wean back onto normal formula at 6 months as their isn't enough iron in the Comfort.

As for Reflux, when he was on normal formula I used Gaviscon and it was brill but the Comfort milk is too thick to add it so his sicking up is awful at the mo. He also wears a bib 24/7. He is probably sick around 6 times between all of his feeds and it varies in consistency from milky to cottage cheesy to water. I too hope it will get better as he starts to be sit up and strengthen his muscles.

Harlyn 14 weeks + 1 day

bellabelly · 08/01/2011 19:26

Hi all! Have been enjoying a lovely quiet day, just me and the girls at home as DH (brave soul) has taken the boys for a daytrip to France. Am missing them now (should be back soon) but it's been lovely just having a bit of peace and quiet - the girls have been v co-operative and slept loads too.

Watersprite - soooo sorry to hear about your scare, must have been really stressful. Great news that she is home again.

MammyG · 09/01/2011 00:18

Watersprite Can empathize. Hope she is quickly on the mend and that you are taking care of yourself too!
Banana My DS2 is Mr. Independent, Im constantly being told he can do it himself and go away mama but he is 3 now and very spontaneously affectionate! Even today I cut his hair and was telling him he was very handsome, off he petered to DH and just said 'you know dada I really love my bestest mama!'at Boys love their mamas so dont panic! He loves you ...hes just taking you for granted! As men do! Wink
Spent the day cleaning - house back to normal now. And had nice evening on the sofa watching a movie and having fun with DH Grin Happy days! Now if only Phoebe would SLEEP thru the night! The boys were going 11 to 6/7 at this stage. Its starting to show on me! and my poor baby head is just the pits! the joys!

beaditAli · 09/01/2011 11:43

newmum we have a Bumbo with a tray too. Jack will only manage about 10 mins at the moment but like Dixie says: hopefully it'll get more use soon. The tray is brilliant for toys who would otherwise be going overboard! They're on offer in Mcare at the mo! Grin

Dixie or comix (I know it was one of you) Smile was it you considering the Alphabot poster?? Did you get one???

watersprite · 09/01/2011 13:08

Hi :)

Thanks for all the lovely messages, Maria-Ann is so much better. The community nurse came yesterday and checked her over he checked her sats and they were 98% so a big improvement Grin i feel so lucky, he said if I'd left her another day the outcome could of been much worse I'm so glad I went with my instincts. I went down to the hospital twice previous with her but her sats were always ok. The third time I took her thats when she had to stay in, I knew she wasn't right when I stripped her down and she was breathing through her diapharm. I'm so glad she is on the mend Wink

watersprite · 09/01/2011 13:13

clumsymumluckybaby I do hope Arlo is feeling much better soon :)

Maria-Ann 15 wks + 5

Dixiebell · 09/01/2011 17:46

beadit, it was me who liked the Alphabot. We didn't get it in the end. We started looking at all the other posters on that site and I wanted to get one of the personalised alphabet ones, but we couldn't decide which, then I had the idea to make one ourselves and get it printed (cheapo!) but we never got round to it...:)

One thing we have started though is a time capsule type thing - box of stuff including so far a newspaper from day of Arli's birth, set of 2010 coins, a technology magazine...to be looked at say when he's 21. Might get a cd of some music from 2010 too, printout of Facebook messages from day of birth, scan photos...anyone else done similar? What did you put in it?

bananastew · 09/01/2011 19:10

Jodey I hope you don't think I was being funny when I asked who advised it, its just I had the same problems with Toby and nobody suggested it to me! I just had to put up with the sick! I managed to use the comfort & gaviscon by using size 3 teats and kept him on it till he was a year & just made sure he had plenty of iron in his diet!

Dixie I don't do a time capsule but I had memory boxes for both the boys. I put similar things in that you've said but also special things like 1st baby grow, corks from occasions, anything that I think will be of interest when they're older!

newmum i have a bumbo too. love it! had it with Toby they're fab. I put it on the worktop in the kitchen so he can really see whats going on!

I put Olly in his bouncing tigger thing for the 1st time, left him for a minute came back to find Toby saying "mummy, olly go round round" and poor Olly spinning so fast I'm suprised he wasn't sick! Shock

We had a night off last night, the boys went to my parents & we went out! It was nice but I'm soooo tired now! its worse than having them here and having to get up in the night! I'm too old!

MammyG · 09/01/2011 21:12

Dixie we have decided to do a box each year. In the 2010 box are all the usual- boys drawings etc. put in Phoebes first baby shoes and loads of pics, other similar things. most important I guess is that we wrote a letter to each one of them just telling them what they are like now and funny things they have done/said all year. I also have a journal type thing for Phoebe that I am filling out. Its a 3 book box set by Anne Geddes, the baby photographer. 1 book is about pregnancy, then another about the baby and the last one is about motherhood. They are gorgeous. beautiful pics and prompts on what to write. Will take years to finish but i thing it will be lovely to pass on to her.

cinnamongreyhound · 09/01/2011 21:24

My friend did a pregnancy journal with her first MammyG but then when she had a boy she thought it was a waste of time and so didn't do one the second time around. I thought it was sad as although they may not get pregnant I'm sure there are plenty of men who would be interested.

I went out last night bananastew to see my friends band, got home at 12.15 and was then up at 1.30 and 5.30 with Luke so I'm knackered too! I ended up feeling really sad when I came home. He was a really good friend to me at a very difficult time and before I met dh he and I were both single and used to go out to dinner together regularly. I met dh at about the same time as he met his dw and the dinners fizzled out. We have had them round several times but I haven't seen him at all in the last year. His dw has been unwell and her medication has made her put on weigh so although she is better she has lost a lot of confidence. I realised last night that I really miss him and it made me very sad for the people who drift out of our lives as things change :(

We finally saw Harry Potter today and I loved it. Both boys were very good and were pleased to see me when we got back, lots of lovely smiles from my baby Grin. Been to a birthday party which was lovely as well so busy day. I have been having a lot of cramps today, question for sassy34264 when she's back. I had a coil fitted on 2nd December but other than the odd cramp I've not had a problem but wondering if these cramps are a sign that I am about to get a period? I'm still fully breastfeeding but I got them back when ds1 was 16 weeks old but always put it down to him stopping night feeds and Luke is still feeding at night. Paracetamol has taken the edge off but they are still pretty painful.

17 weeks tomorrow!

JodeyLea · 10/01/2011 08:13

bananstew of course I didn't think u were being funny. Hope it didn't sound as though I did. Reading back my post, the right at the beginning could be interpreted as though I did but I only put that there because I type almost as I speak and at the time I was thinking about all the posts I wanted to reply to after spending ages catching up and trying to remember Smile
I have recently bought some size 3 teats and still have a prescrption for my gaviscon so will do that today as can't cope with all the constant washing and changing.
I also wrote a pregnancy diary for my lo and still write bit and pieces in it now. My friend has two boys who are now 14 & 16 and they love reading about when they were little.

I took Harlyn to his first swimming lesson yesterday at babaseahorses. He loved it. There were about 5 of us with our babies though Harlyn was the youngest by a couple of months. I thought he would be really sleepy afterwards but he wasn't. I managed to finally get him
off to sleep at 10:30 and he is still asleep now Shock without a single wake up! I've had such a good sleep.
Hope this continues. Just need to try and get him down earlier now. I'm aiming for 9pm by end of the week.

14 weeks + 3

JodeyLea · 10/01/2011 08:14

Oh and meant to say, I still haven't had a period!!! Haven't breastfed for a week now! Anyone else still waiting?
