Someone had to do it. Witty thread titles, not my forte, but no one else seemed willing.

Buzz another vote foe Alexa shortened to Lexi!!! Are you excited Grin

LadyBuzz · 14/10/2010 19:41

ceebee exactly the same happens with ours DS1 wants down and then J does too! and yes also eats everything at Nursery!

I do love Alexa but a friend has an Alexa so we thought we would go for Lexi, yes I am very excited I keep buying pink things Grin DSIL is busy frilling up socks and bibs and shoes for me too!

openerofdarklymoulderingtombs · 14/10/2010 23:11

Ceebs, your thread made Talk Roundup!

PinkyMinxy · 14/10/2010 23:25

Hello!
I really have been awol haven't I? I hope it's ok for me to come and say hello.

LB soo pleased for you re having a girl!

Jars v.exciting plans for baby no.2.

Obs glad you are getting some answers- remember your posts from a while ago about your ds1.

DD2 is very nearly 2! wow can't believe it. She is really such a poppet. Presents- she has some things for her baby stella doll which she loves. May have a small tea party on the fri with some of her little buddies whilst the other two are at school. On the sunday we are going to the zoo.

Monkey- re naps DD2 does not always have a nap. DS had an hour long nap 3 days a week at this age. DD1 had big sleep most afternoons until the age of 3. All of them sleep til 7ish. They are all in bed asleep by 8.

AL fab news re new home!

Ceebee74 · 15/10/2010 11:53

Pinky hello!! Lovely to hear from you Smile I guess your DD2 birthday is coming up very soon as she was one of the first ones to be born wasn't she?

Jars really - MN roundup Shock I stopped reading it ages ago but will go and hunt for this week's now. Wow, does that make me MN royalty now Wink

PinkyMinxy · 15/10/2010 12:22

Hi ceebee
yes she arrived at 38 weeks.

I will have to check out mnet roundup!

are all the toddlers in beds now? DD2 is still in her huge cot. I want to get the girls bunk beds, so I'm holding off a bit. DD2 has only just stopped getting her head stuck when going up the ladder to DS's bed!

LadyBuzz · 15/10/2010 13:35

Hello pinky good to see you Smile

J is in a big bed but he has been since March when we moved house becaue I broke his cot Blush so it was an emergency!

They are going into bunks soon so I can start all over again with a nursery.

I'm furious today, I had a call from my credit card fraud prevention, someone has my details and has tried to transfer £4k onto my account Angry its sorted and they picked it up straight away but I am so annoyed that people can do this!

Ceebee74 · 15/10/2010 15:52

pinky Hamster is in a big bed now as we are becoming desperate for a toy room so we needed to get DS1 and Hamster in a room together so we can start shifting all the rooms around! They are now sleeping in bunk beds and it is great! We are on the 5th night now and Hamster has not fallen out of the bed once (even though he was still falling out of his toddler bed regularly but this is a normal single bed and it is wider so he can spin round and round safely Wink) and I went in the other morning to wake them up and Hamster had already climbed up to the top bunk to wake DS1 up and was sat there giggling his head off....which is fine except their room is pitch black so I don't know how he got up the ladder!!

I was in no particular rush to do it as Hamster was perfectly happy in his cot (and we didn't move DS1 out of his cot until he was about 2.2) but we really need the room, particularly with the influx of toys that is going to arrive in the next couple of months!!

bythepowerofMN · 15/10/2010 21:12

ceebee you are MN royalty - was a great thread Grin am loving that we are all back talking more, must be because our LO's are nearly 2!!! THank you all for your votes and re posts on FB, it is very much appreciated!!! If you are regular on other threads a mere mention would be lovely Wink

We are being interviewed tomorrow for paper - am a bag of nerves.....also planning a massive rugby festival and got so much to do!

What is everyone else doing?

openerofdarklymoulderingtombs · 16/10/2010 10:02

Well, right now I'm sitting on the sofa with a poorly boy, watching bloody Chuggington and waiting for the wash to finish so I can put more vommy bedding in! Poor Finbo.

We were going to go out last night but F woke up poorly yesterday morning. He seemed okay by teatime but apparently not. Oh well.

Ellielou02 · 17/10/2010 21:42

Hello Ladies :)

Another one been awol here, but have been lurking.
Its nice to see a few people back though, it would be a shame for the thread to finish. I think pixie asked earlier whats everyone getting for their LO's birthday, I dont have a clue, DD1 has a lot of stuff which we have kept but Millie likes different things she seems to be a bit of a tom boy just now which is fine lol. She is DEF hitting the terrible 2's I think we nearly got asked to leave dobbies the other day Blush it was a proper lying screaming on the floor tantrum over nothing!

I have another question, we are moving to a new house soon and at present DD's have a room each but in the new house Millies bedroom will be alot smaller and whilst it wouldnt be a problem I have been thinking it might be nice for them to share for a few years, I shared with my sis and whilst we fought it was a nice time of my life, we used to make tents and read each other stories and talk for ages.

We got some bad news the other day, my grandads got cancer, I was kind of half expecting it TBH but think I was in denial and ignoring the cues :( so we need to wait and see what the next step is, they are talking about removing a kidney but his other one isnt great either so it may mean dialysis, but he doesnt understand what a big thing this will be for his body he will be 79 this year and up to now goes away 5 or 6 times a year on hols it will be such a big change to his life and my gran is awaiting an assessment as I am sure she has a bit of dementia, gosh I am all doom and gloom today.

buzz love alexa its a lovely name.

pinky whats a baby stella doll, I think I will google it :)

ceebee well done on your thread I enjoyed reading it and can totally relate to it.

Hi to everone I have missed gonna catch up properly now.

twinklingfairy · 17/10/2010 23:00

I got my hair cut.
I can't decide if I like it. Confused
Check out my photos and tell me what you think, would you guys?

twinklingfairy · 17/10/2010 23:14

ellie I think it is a lovely idea!
I say to my DH that if when (think positive Twink Hmm) we sell this house and get into a 3 bed, I will not seperate DD and DS. I like having them in together.
But there will come a day when they will need their own space, hence the desire for a house move.
Anyway, I think it is lovely that they share a room and plan to keep it that way as long as pos.

Not in big bed here, not in any rush At All to put DS into one.
I think DD was at least 2.5 before she went into hers. She went straight into a big bed. I put on a double duvet and tucked a great wad of it under her bed, to prevent her falling out. It worked a treat for us.

You get duvets with zips. Like a great big sleeping bag. Mad! But also Ingenius!

Oh, I must go put on some pics of my kittens! They are just so lovely!
And utterly insane! They do nothing but play attack one another all day. Well, no, mostly they sleep! haha. Then go into frenzy mode and attack!
They are sooo soo good with the children though. Both DS and DD like to pick them up whenever they can (DS likes nothing more than to drop them, though he seems to be learning that that is a no no. The naughty step has well and truly been introduced now) But the kittens let them get on with it, not even attempting a swipe or two and boy do my two get close to them.
But then, in reverse, DS can be so gentle with them, giving them the softest strokes and wee kisses.
It's all goodSmile

LacksDaisies · 17/10/2010 23:20

oooh, hello Smile

just seen this in active convos and hadn't realised it was still so active! I am mostly on FB these days!

will try and catch up properly soonish (if I can stop knitting for long enough) but bumble is the same re food. Tis an age thing; life is too exciting to stop and eat. bumble will graze all day long, but sit him at a table and everything is "bleargh".

Good to see pinky; was thinking about you the other day lovely Smile

sparkletoes · 18/10/2010 14:01

Waves to Pinky and EllieLou!

Sorry to hear that about ur grandad Ellie Sad.. However I think your sharing a room idea is abso fine, my two share and it is great as they entertain eachother in the mornings and seems to be company for them at night.

Only have a mo so just trying to catch up...!

Loved your thread Ceebee

Waves to Lacks hope you are doing ok too!

My DS1 has had awful poos for about a month now. He also seems to have lost a bit of weight, infact both DS have recently. The poo situ is a concern to me as my mum is coeliac and so I am aware to look for signs of this.

Anyway hope all is well, catch up properly soon...

Ellielou02 · 18/10/2010 15:26

Twink I think your hair is really nice :) Where do you get these zippy duvet things?? I am intrigued
Thanks sparkletoes hope DS1 gets better soon, must be worrying.

Ceebee74 · 18/10/2010 20:17

Twinks I think your hair is lovely Smile

Ellie sorry about your grandad Sad

Hi to everyone else - hope you all stick around Smile

Took Hamster to 'mother and toddler' swimming today and he spent the entire time shouting either 'my turn' or 'one more time' Grin His vocab has really improved these last couple of weeks - still no real sentences as such but a definite improvement.

LacksDaisies · 18/10/2010 21:49

Ellie, so sorry about your grandad Sad; I hope that you can all spend as much time together as possible. hugs xx

sparkles are you getting the boys tested? I know that coeliac antibody tests in kids can be notoriously fickle though and it can take a while to get the right answer. There is good advice on the allergies boards here and coeliac UK were brilliant with my questions when I was first diagnosed.

I fell asleep on the job this morning Shock. Woke up to find that DD had raided the cupboards and she and bumble were polishing off a cake bar each after having eaten a big bag of crisps between them. I was out for over half an hour and the side door wasn't locked Shock. I was knackered after volunteering at the NCT sale yesterday, and obv couldn't keep my eys open. I have mainly sat around today trying to recover. It's bonkers as I'm getting more sleep now than ever before yet am still dog tired. Doc says thyroid function is normal though, even though the lab refused to do all the tests Hmm

I am going to try swimming with bumble next term if there are places. Gym minis is not the right environment for him; he is a real thug with the other children and thinks that the play equipment is there for his use only and gets really squealy if anyone tries to climb on the equipment when he is within three feet of it and has even hit a little boy; tis mortifying Blush

twinklingfairy · 18/10/2010 23:10

ellie here are the duvets, this one shows how it works
but this one is a better price

Cheers for the comments re my hair.
Do you know I met my sister the other night, my dad came round on Sunday and a mate was round today and None of them noticedShock
It is Totally different. I think anyway.
oh well.

Oh sparkles hope your two are ok, but a month of that and losing weight is worth checking out. Soz I have no idea about ceoliac, I have a relative who has it, but I am afraid the details of what that means are very vagueBlush
Yikes, falling asleep daisy. Made me Smile to think of your two raiding the food cupboards. My J would do that.
DD, though, when I fell alseep, took one of her tops and draped it over my feet, to keep them warm. ah, bless her she is such a lovey.

Oh, that makes me think.
What is your earliest memory?
DH says his was just about 2 and 3/4, he remembers going in to see his brother as a newborn.
Can't think right now what mine is.
But it always made me think, what would be my DDs, she will have had it by now, I guess, and just hoped that is was not a screaming argument with me and DH.

Turns out it is my being ill when early doors pregnant with DS, so she would have been less than 2.5Shock
She said to me a wee while back. 'You only drink fizzy orange juice when you are ill mummy, don't you?'
The only time I have ever had fizzy orange drink was orange lucozade which I drank loads when suffering with morning sickness.
Little darling.
To remember that. She has such a sweet nature, it does not surprise me that she remembers that.
She practically held my hair! Stroked my back and everything.
Poor love, how could I explain it to a 2.5 yr old?
And I could never leave her to go. Anyway she would follow me and I was in no position to stopSad
The joys.
But imagine that being her earliest memory so far.

Mama2Monkeys · 19/10/2010 12:50

Blush Sorry been AWOL. Now 36wks. Still working 3 days 9.30-5. Feeling quite good except for slight cold. Babe started feeling heavy and some people think he has dropped.

DS (4) loves "big school" had parents eve and his teacher loves him and thinks he is doing great (even with the 2 incidents). To cover me working now for longer he is going to a after school/holiday club and is really excited.

DS got 1st school photo on Wed. I told the hairdressers wrong at the w/e and he got his spikes shaved off ShockConfused. Oh and DS cut above his left eyebrow open on the side of a table at school yesterday Sad. So on his 1st school photo he will be a skinhead with a bloody cut/scar above one of his eyebrows. Not the image I was hoping for but he is my gorg boy anyway. Weird thing too if he does end up with a scar it will be in the same place his dad has one!

Sooo proud of DS this morn when he asked to practice writing (we sit in parked car before school and read or write sometimes). He wrote his 1st name ShockGrin with only 2 minor mistakes.

DD is a loving, helpful, chatty, independent minx that when she has a paddy you had better move Smile! I think with DS and DD a lot of their "paddys" come out of frustration of not understanding me or me not understanding what they are trying to say. Unfortunately when I think about it I react in the same nasty/angry/frustrated way as my 4yr and nearly 2yr old sometimes and ashamed to say it. I should know better.

DH and me still up and down and NOT in a good way Wink. More downs but still plodding which is a state I do not enjoy. I keep finding myself reminiscing about when he used to make an effort and treat me nicely all those 14 years ago. When I felt special and loved. But I'm sure DH thinks the same about me!

ladybuzz love the name "Lexi" Smile.
pinky helloooo. Smile
ellie helloooo. Smile arent the 2's fab Hmm. Alyssa will be fine and sooo loving and helpful. Then for no reason with have a full on strop. I suppose it is a little of trying it on but at this age they are talking well but not well enough to explain themselves sometimes. Which along with Alyssa's very independent streak causes a few paddys. So Sad to hear about your grandad's diagnosis. Hugs to you.
twinkling check you out girlfriend [shaking head back and forth emotion]Smile. Earliest memory ... i have a terrible memory and makes me Blush how bad. My friends will be having a laugh saying "oh remember ..." and I dont remember a thing. I do remember probably about 4yrs old and a person being dressed up as a skeleton in a weird shaped building. Turns out that building was my 1st school and I guess my teacher at halloween. I hope DS and DD dont remember me and DH arguing or my being a complete shouty nasty arse at times (hate myself when I do it - red mist).
tombs poor fin. hope he's better now and you have been able to turn chuggington off.
daisy eek at you falling asleep. But no harm done and lesson learnt. Be proud of your DDs hunter gatherer skills Smile.

War and peace over!

Mama2Monkeys · 20/10/2010 09:34

BlushSad i killed the thread.

twinklingfairy · 20/10/2010 20:16

Ach, no you didn't, mama
It is just so much slower these days.
Your poor DS all his hair off and a cut eye for the school photo. Typical isn't it.
My mum always cut my fringe for mine. But I have a cows lick and she never compensated so I had a wonky fringe in every one of my school photos!
I can't believe you are 36 weeks already! It is mad to think your are going to have another baby! I can't imagine having another.

My memory is just as bad! It is DH who has to remember things for me.
I tell him stuff, memories and the like, and then say 'I told you that cos I know I will forget, so you have to remember for me.'
I too am always at a blank when my old school friend says, Do you remember so and so, they were friends with so and so?
I don't even remember the first so and so nevermind the connection to the second.
I used to hate meeting up with a bunch of mums from the local area. All they did was talk history and this person and that. I used to just zone out.

Talking of zoning out.
I invited a couple of friends round yesterday (for a play date for DD really) but I forgot that when they get together they just talk shop for the playgroup commitee and breastfeeding La Leche training.
I thought it was very rude to be made to feel gooseberry in my own home[hangry]

Mama2Monkeys · 20/10/2010 20:48

twinkling very rude indeed.

RE DS school photos with skinhead and cut eyebrow well I also realised when I picked him up that he has had his shoes on the wrong feet all day! How bad am I?! Blush I just hope for 1 good photo.

Yep 36 wks and had checkup today. Found out I have another back to back baby. Just hope history doesnt repeat itself with all the probs I had with DS during labour and after. Was hoping for a labour like with DD. Really scared which is silly I guess being on no3.

twinklingfairy · 20/10/2010 20:59

Oh dear. Does not sound good.[hsad]
but I don't know what probs you had?
wasn't your labour quick with DD?
Sorry, really really bad memory, see[hwink]

MummyNic · 22/10/2010 02:04

Hi all, sorry for being AWOL, have been busy at home and work... Not a great announcement but I think my job is safe... For now...
Twinks, it's me who is selling with 3 veiwings in 3 months, very frustrating.

Dsis has kept her word and has brought the youngest 2 round to see J every week for 3 weeks now, if only she'd put as much effort into building bridges with her ds..

Having a night from hell. J has been throwing up, quite violently, since his journey home from nursery. Have run out of gro bags and sheets (I have 4 of each!). Dh has been a star (makes a change!), but he's got a day off tomorrow so I think that's part of it. Both have gone to sleep while I'm waiting for the latest load to finish so I can shove stuff in the drier and on radiators.
J seems unable to even keep water down so I might have to ring the gp.. Reluctant to at the mo as his car seat covers are drying on radiators!!! Still, it's about time it had a wash.. Wish me luck for tomorrow (or should that be "later today") when I have to reassemble it!! Lol

Will read some more now.. Sorry if I've missed anything!!
