Hi Ladies,

I hope you don't mind, I started a new thread as our first one was quite full! I can't believe we're a quarter-way through the first year already! Smile

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
first1 · 12/10/2010 10:45

homebirth - sorry you're feeling a bit down about your weight. Everyone takes a different amount of time to shift baby weight. My MW said "9months up, 9months down". Don't be in a rush I'm sure you look super lovely :)

millington - Do let me know about Harry's hair, I'm interested thanks. How is the gaviscon working? Never ever heard of a little girl having thrush, poor thing. I get it all the time, I hate it!

I haven't tried weaning yet. Chloe will be 20weeks on Thursday, going to wait till end of the month I think. She doesn't even know what to do with calpol or bonjela, so should be interesting!

Personal question - Totally understand if noone wants to answer. But, anyone else's boobs just GONE!? Blush I only breastfed for a few weeks before switching to formula, but literally they have GONE. Use to be 32d pre pregnancy, went up to dd during, and now, lord knows, a B if I'm lucky. Dammit I want them back! Confused

wouldliketoknow · 12/10/2010 11:05

hi all

wellcome back to those threasdcrashing, please do post again...

first, re boob:i breast fed for nearly 4 and half months, but i never had much milk or engorgement, i was a 36c pre-preg, went up to 38e, i sotpped breastfeeding about 3 weeks ago and nothing went down yet, ...
milli poor dd, hope she gets better soon
mbm3 weight sounds good to me, does she seem happy and looks proportionate? oscar is 17 lb +-, but hv says he is tall and looks right so...
hbm do listen to dh, the same happens to me, up 2/3 sizes, no time to exercise... dh is going to diet with me, and go to the pool, he will stay with oscar, still it is good to hear a dh saying you looks lovely even when you feel like a whale...

right, see if i can sleep this baby and study a couple of hours...

Den26 · 12/10/2010 16:42

Hey All,

SK - hope sleep improves soon, you must be completely whacked..

MBM3 - hey! welcome back!! Glad you're doing well. My friends little boy is way below percentiles for his weight and age (6 months). He is all in proportion though so HV not worried - just say he's a small boy - eating and pooping well!!

First - my boobs gone too!! Its horrible :( Feels like theres nothing in them iykwim? I hope they come back too.

Well My dP came in at 3am on sun morning completely wasted - i was livid & he knows it, not really speaking at mo but have told him that he needs to help more and stop being selfish - we'll see...

Re weaning - think we're gonna start baby rice next week at 22 wks. Bit nervous about the whole thing. do they loose their baby smell when on proper foods?

Hope siblings are all behaving themselves :)

pamelat · 12/10/2010 19:08

Den Alex has some solids, when he feels like it, still smells like a baby (except for his poo) Shock its a bit like compressed grass now!!

Hb I have a stone and a half to lose, am very low about it. People keep telling me will drop off after 12 months. Am exercising and not eating as much cake Grin

first re boobs. I breastfed for 15 weeks. Normally 34a, went up a lot for me, having sopped 6 weeks ago my boobs shrank back but now to an a, probably a b. I think mine is because I have weight to lose but liking the fuller boobs Smile Do you think maybe its because you have lost weight????

mustbemadno3 · 12/10/2010 21:13

first1 yep my boobs have disappeared, didnt have much to begin with but now they have no muscle tone whatsoever!

den dont be nervous about weaning. It dosnt take long before they get the hang of it. I'm enjoying trying out new foods on her. I love the faces she pulls at some of the purees I give her!
By the way I suggest you teach your dp a lesson! I went out got back at 2.00a.m and spent the next day in bed paying for it. But made a change me doing it than him lol!

Im not worried about Lillias weight as she is petite just gaining weight slowly. But shes so active she must burn it all off!

pigleychez · 12/10/2010 21:14

ML- :( Hope the kids are coming to terms with it.

SK- Hope your all enjoying your hoiday :)

HB- Glad to hear Virginia is liking the carrier. We have a Bjorn too which Lucy likes.
DD1 had a full wig when she was born with no vitamins.
I too feel very down about my weight:( I dont weigh much more now than I did pre kids but just hate my flabby tummy and feel so ugly and unsexy. Same as you finding the time to exercise is just impossible.

Cupcake- Glad you had a nice holiday :) Did moving DS into his own room help at all?
Fingers crossed for DH too.

Lucy amazing slept 7-5.30 am on Friday night which was fab and since then she has been going through till 4 ish for a feed then sleep again till about 7. Feels good that were heading in the right direction and may get our sleeping baby back. ( Although saying that ive prob just cursed myself!)

Pamlet- very Envy of your family support. Party sounds great. Good luck on the exam.

Heffa- How did the driving lesson go?

Mustbemad- Lucy was 14lb at 20 weeks and that was bang on the 50th centile line so lillia perfectly healthy :)

Millington- Interesting role play :) Hope DD is ok.

First- Yeah id definately say its because ive lost alot of weight. Sadly the boobs are the first place you loose weight. Cant win can we!

Den- Grrr Angry at DP.

Nice suprise at toddler group this morning. Nice fit young man making us all cups of tea. Promoting Tetleys new range but very welcome on a tuesday morning! Grin

Lucy is such a flirt and always has such a massive grin for everyone its a delight to see. She is constantly shooting up and AGAIN I need to go shopping for new clothes for her. Having the opposite problem with DD1 though, now shes in knickers all her trousers keep falling down! Shes so skinny that I need 1yr old clothes for her (shes 2) but then the length is too short. Shopping for her is a nightmare!

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 12/10/2010 21:46

Mustbemad - good to see you back :)

First1 - my boobs are still pretty much the same, but I think it's normal for them to disappear. My DSis lost hers after her DCs.

Den26 - Angry at your DP! I'd be hopping mad.

Pigley - driving lesson went great thanks, managed to remember most things so was very glad :) I think I'm going to have to get some old clothes out for DD when we potty-train her, trousers barely stay up as it is. She's quite tall though so smaller trousers are often too short, but trousers that are long enough just fall off her Hmm

Went to toddler group this morning which was very nice. DD was a bit grumpy though so wasn't playing very well with others. I wish they'd both get over the colds they've got, every time they seem to be better, something else hits. I've had to cancel Corin's 16 week jabs twice now (and he's nearly 22 weeks!).

hormonalmum · 12/10/2010 22:11

Hello all.
Sorry I have not posted in ages - hope everyone is well.
Things hectic as ever here.
dd1 has had some problems at school, so I have been stressing about that. Hopefully we are through the worse now but it has been a worry.
Ds now potty trained (touch wood)
dd2 is still being mix fed. Still using the supplementer which is a right royal pain now but she will not take a bottle. Dh has tried few times with a sippy cup and she has taken milk from that a couple of times. She is not sleeping much at night - If all else fails I have to use the supplementer in the night to get her back of to sleep. It is starting to make me cross and tired.

All in all, I am feeling a bit down in the dumps. A couple of my so-called friends have let me down and dh and I are bickering due to both being tired. We have little time alone together and the chances of getting out are non existenct whilst dd2 wont reliably take a bottle or cup.

I will now read the thread and catch up with everyones' news.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 13/10/2010 15:16

Welcome back Hormonalmum, sorry you're having such a hard time :( Sounds like you must be pretty miserable. Hope your DD1 is OK. I've seen threads on here advising how to get LOs to start taking a bottle/cup which seem to have lots of advice, but I guess you've probably tried everything by now, must be such a pain.

pamelat · 13/10/2010 20:42

Sorry all, very "me" post

Had some shocking news today. A friend of a good friend has died in a car crash today. She was only 21 Sad and the other fatality was only 34 and a mum of 2 childen (not in the car), dont know all of the details.

Appreciate I dont know her at all but I still feel shocked/upset, especially thinking about those 2 poor kids and her husband/partner/their dad.

wouldliketoknow · 13/10/2010 20:53

i'll do a me post too, all is not well in paradise, very crying baby today and very clingy, not at all like him, very red cheecks but no temp, normal poo, didn't eat much, neither of us actually, major headache for me, any clues? feeling a bit down...

pam, so sorry about your news, it is horrible to think... poor kids and dad, it puts all little problems in perspective...

cupcakefairy · 13/10/2010 20:59

wltk sounds like it could be teething to me. I keep hearing these amber necklaces are supposed to be brilliant, might be worth a try.

pamela what horrible news :( stuff like that always rocks me too.

Just popping on v quickly (sorry for not more personals, need early night as ds's sleep still SHOCKING)

Wanted to say first I've been reading the childbirth threads and there is one on there called 'episiotomy recovery' - a lady quite upset after stitches being infected and possibly needing restitching. Just thought you might be able to offer some good advice/support. I've posted on there too with my haematoma experience but I thought of you as someone who'd be much more help!

I'm off to bed! :) night all.

cupcakefairy · 13/10/2010 21:01

here is the thread. Obviously not saying you have to go over there though!

wouldliketoknow · 13/10/2010 21:23

amber necklaces? tell me more, never heard of them...
it is just today, he is usually such an easy baby, never cries, always happy, that i find really hard when he isn't, i thought might be teething too...

TwentiethCenturyHell · 14/10/2010 08:09

Pamelat - :( very sad, hope you're OK.

WLTK - definitely sounds like teething. Teething gel can help, also we keep a soft teething rattle in the fridge so LO can chew on that and get some relief. Don't know about the amber necklaces. My FIL owns a chain of crystal shops and reckons that he can see the idea behind them but I'm never really comfortable with putting a necklace/bracelet on a little one (although I think they're completely safe afaik).

TwentiethCenturyHell · 14/10/2010 08:11

Oh, forgot to ask - does anyone know anywhere cheap online to buy baby clothes? I'm trying to get a few pieces online but Next all adds up very quickly, and I don't have the time to scour ebay really. H&M has some good stuff but it always seems out of stock Hmm

Am trying new Halloween name change as well.

Coffeebeans · 14/10/2010 08:49

Hi, can I add my ds (Brandon) to the list. He was born 4 weeks early (1/5/10) because i had pre eclampsia. He was born 5lb 8oz & spent one night in the scbu, due to low blood sugar. He's now 16lb 15oz. I'm now weaning him. He likes fruit but isn't that keen on carrots! He's doing so well, considering he suffers from bad reflux. Waiting for another hospital appt, he was prescribed Domperidone, but it didn't help. So hello to all Grin i'm not sure how to let you know my fb name, i cant use the discussions on fb because i'm on a mobile.

Carikube · 14/10/2010 09:14

Hi coffeebeans and welcome to the thread. There's a group on fb called Mumsnet May 2010 Babies or else send a friend request to me (search my email caroline dot kluth at btinternet dot com to find me).

Pamelat that is shocking news. I know how much news like this can really hit home even when you're not close to the people concerned. I spent most of yesterday getting emotional watching the miners' rescue in Chile and watching the reunions between families - the thought of being away from DH and the DCs for that length of time chokes me up.

TCH have a quick look at Debenhams online as we had a scoot through yesterday as they have a 70% off sale. Littlewoods online is another one that often has really cheap stuff - some times there's nothing to buy, other days we pick up loads.

WLTK a friend uses an amber necklace for her son. Don't know how good it is as she seems to be up with him most nights but you could always give it a go. With DD1 we used to use cucumber or celery sticks; straight from the fridge they are really soothing and I don't think it really counts as weaning Smile

hormonalmum sorry you're having such a hard time - hope things ease up soon for you (but welcome back!)

TwentiethCenturyHell · 14/10/2010 09:40

Welcome to the thread Coffeebeans :) Sounds like Brandon's doing really well :)

Carikube - thanks for the recommendations, never thought of Littlewoods. Everything I wanted at H&M came back into stock today so that's good :)

Another thing for teething can be Bickiepegs - DD and my sister's children have loved them.

homebirthmummy4 · 14/10/2010 11:30

morning!
welcome back hormonalmum, sorry its all so tough right now, i used a supplementer with dd3, fiddly but so worth the effort. my rl friends with bottle issues use something called a doidy cup, brilliant and available at john lewis
www.johnlewis.com/Search/Search.aspx?SearchTerm=doidy+cup

welcome coffebean, i also have scbu baby (10days)

4+ feeds becoming normal during the night now, DH woke to a sobbing wife. oh dear.
think i need a handsome young man to come and make me tea Wink

yay on the news in chile, made me a bit emotional too, do you think they would have launched a rescue if it was just one miner? hope so

wouldliketoknow · 14/10/2010 12:18

afternoon!
better day today here, thank you all for the teething advice, we have a tething ring to bite, those you put on the fridge, and teething gel, i googled the amber necklace but feel uneasy putting a beds necklace in a baby... not much sleep last night, so tired and grumpy, that's me, not the baby...

hope all the sickies feel better now, and spare a thought for those with hard nights.

great that the miners got out alive and well, but as the chilean papers are saying, a thought for the 34 who died in the mines this year alone, and those working in unsafe conditions that may come next.

an aibu question: i had a friend who disspareared when i was 7 months pregnant, just found her on facebook and she happens to be in miami, not saying what she is doing there alone, no dh, and she pretends to recollect the friendship as normal, even gave me her home number to call her in the states. aibu to think she is a cow and good ridance? or should i resume the friendship as normal? i m,ight actually do an aibu thread about this...

first1 · 14/10/2010 14:43

cupcake - Read your story on that thread - bless ya! I've added my small piece too if anyone is interested!

rachel - thanks for your email! I'm not ignoring it promise, just my internet is dodgy atm, and I can't seem to reply. Will do asap.

hi coffeebeans!

hollyoaks · 14/10/2010 15:01

Hi all, I've been rubbish at keeping up lately, life is just too busy and work is looming :(. Rang up this week and the supply teacher covering my job has walked out after a disagreement with the head and my line manager has gone on the sick. This means no-one is teaching biology in the school and I don't know what state my classes and room (Shock Sad) will be in when I get back. It's actually making me feel quite nauseous, which sounds pathetic, and I'm dreading going back. :(

DD1 started playschool this morning, or as we call it school, and she loved it. She ate beans Shock which she doesn't like apparently and made a ghost painting. Shame it's only two mornings a week until christmas.

I've been planning dh's 30th bithday too and have got hooked on Moonpig.com, I'm sure its WLTK on fb who's to blame. I got a card for my dn who is one next week, a card for dh from me with out picture on, one from the girls with a poem in and another with a message for him to get two days earlier which tells him he's going Go-karting with his friends. :) Can't wait, getting excited.

Well, I'm going to try and catch up on the last few pages and get back into the swing of things. Blush

hollyoaks · 14/10/2010 15:45

Tomlin/SK - hope you had/are having a great time in CP, we were at Sherwood back in July and loved it. :)

Pigley - I know you mentioned separate bank accounts but dh and my wages/maternity pay both go into the same account which is use for bill, food, clothes for all of us and treats etc... What's his is mine and I wouldn't feel guilty for treating any of us with the money as providing childcare is just as valuable and often harder than going to work. I think you should take some of the money and go on a massive spending spree for yourself, buy some lovely new clothes and make-up and get some confidence back. :) We have the same clothes issues with dd1 too, very skinny, especially now she's in knickers, the only legging we have which are tight are aged 1-11/2 and she's 2.9 years.

ML - I really have no advice as I've never been through a break-up never mind a divorce since I was 17 which doesn't really count. I feel for your kids so much, it's such a change for them. I hope you are getting great advice and taking some time for yourself, it must be so hard to stay strong for the dc.

Den - don't blame you for being pissed of at your dh, it's so much easier when there's two of you. Hope he wasn't too late. Oh, just read that he was very late! Angry for you, that's totally inconsiderate, hope you made him suffer with a hangover.

Vits - took folic acid religeously (sp?) with dd1 till 16 weeks and she had loads of hair, hardly took it with dd2 and although she was born with loads of hair too can't help but think that may have been linked to her birth defect :( [guilty mammy emoticon]

Cupcake - glad you had a good holiday. DD regressing here too and has been up a lot through the night for the last few weeks, we're trying to keep her in her room of we can manage to stay awake during the night feeds to actually take her back in. We've started weaning too, she's having porridge for breakfast and supper.

Mustbemad - good to hear from you again, glad lilia is doing well.

First1 - my boobs are the same size but they feel quite empty and lack any fullness, they did this after dd1 who I only fed for 2-3 days. It's pants isn't it :(

Heffa - we're the same here with colds and sniffles, Grace's 16 week injections have been cancelled three times, fourth time lucky on Tuesday.

Hormonal - nice to hear from you, sorry your having a tough time. Yeah for ds potty training though, hope dd1's problems at school are sorted. No advice about the feeding though maybe you'll get more time once she starts to wean.

Pamelat - so sorry about your friend :(, devastating for all the family involved and even harder to deal with once you become a mum. :(

WLTK - sounds like teething, bonjela, calpol, teethers and cuddles all round I think. Did your friend have a reason to leave? Might need more details before we can say whether or not to end the friendship, plus a holiday in Miami sounds nice :o

Coffeebeans - welcome to the thread, pleased Brandon is doing well after a rough start. Not sure if you have managed to get any of us on fb but if you want you can send someone a private message with your name on so we can search and add you. :)

Right, better go, hope I haven't missed anyone, Grace is still asleep on her mat on the floor, but is starting to stir.

pamelat · 14/10/2010 16:09

Welcome coffee Smile

20th Asda, teso ?? Do the supermarkets sell baby clothes online, would imagine so.
