Hi Ladies!!!!
Merry Christmas!
I am STILL reading every day, though I so rarely get a chance to post any more. It's nice to hear about how you all are doing! I just have a fleeting moment now so I apologise for the lack of personals!
A year ago today I had the 20 weeks scan and found out that it was an Eric and not a Laura in my tummy! That seems like yesterday and yet so long ago at the same time!
Eric is on the move now, so I am kept very busy on Lego/rubbish patrol and pulling ethernet cables out of his mouth! Anyone with a more stationary baby, if you're reading about all the movers, don't feel bad - my DS1 was a stationary baby so this is a whole new world for me and I miss having a baby I could set down and come right back to where I left him! I've just started putting Eric in 12-18 month sized clothes in the last couple of weeks. He's babbling like crazy now, someone said (Pigley?) that they use the "da da da"s as an opportunity to nudge DH in the night to say the baby is calling you! I do that as well! Eric is still waking at around 2:30 am and 5:30 am for breastfeeds, but I am used to it now, I think. I must produce about 6 pints a day now! Finger foods are going well, but he's not swallowing too much yet. He's a pro at making a mess, though! Definitely a member of our family!
We returned from our trip to Los Angeles on 10 December, and have only just gotten over the jet lag. They say a day of recovery for every hour time difference, we had our 8 days of waking in the night sleeping until noon and sure enough, almost back to normal on the 9th day! The trip was fantastic, we had such a great time. DS1 really enjoyed Disneyland especially this time around. My parents were completely besotted by Eric and DH and I even went out to dinner childless a couple of times! Flying with the kids was ok, it's 11 hours going there, DS1 has always been good, this being his fourth trip to LA. Eric is just so squirmy, I was exhausted by the time we got there. Coming back was a bit shorter because of the tailwind, about 10 hours, and an overnight flight, so Eric managed to sleep a few hours which was good. He didn't fit very well in the cot they clipped on to the wall and hated being strapped down on his back, so he did most of his sleeping on my chest. I think next time we go to LA, Eric will be about two years old, now THAT is going to be an experience! He will absolutely need his own seat.
My sister bought the boys matching shirts, ties and jumpers and we had portraits done of them while we were on holiday to include in our Christmas cards. They came out so cute! I've put it on my MN profile, and also added to FB.
I'm feeling a bit more homesick than usual now, especially as we had the coldest overnight temperature for the UK here the other night, minus 19! The weather in LA was so nice, about 20 most days! They have had a lot of rain since we left and a bit of flooding, so we timed the trip well. We also avoided any of the snow disruptions at Heathrow, so I feel very fortunate.
I've just arranged my spare annual leave to follow on after my maternity leave, so I won't be back at work until 18 June! I'm so glad! Hats off to you ladies back at work already, it must be so hard.
I hope that everyone enjoys their first Christmas with the babies! Looking forward to reading about how everyone celebrated! Hugs to you all!
