Hi Ladies,

I hope you don't mind, I started a new thread as our first one was quite full! I can't believe we're a quarter-way through the first year already! Smile

Will attempt personals but apologies if I fall asleep halfway through - Molls was woken by an avalanche from our roof at about 12.30 last night and just wouldn't settle again. Little hyper, non sleeping wee madam. Generally I'm really confident about my parenting approach but I'm beginning to wonder if we're making things harder than they have to be. Feeling very tearful today - mostly exhaustion I'm sure.

pigley lovely to hear Lucy's progress. Molls loves standing on our laps too but no crawling just yet. DD1 crawled at 8 months so plenty of time. Imagine they'll suddenly set off. I wonder if all younger siblings are noisy to get noticed or is it just ours? :)

carikube hope the concert was nice and the Christmas mood is well and truly upon you.

pamelat no sleeping through here either - not even close. DS was a long time before he slept through no matter what we did. It's like crawling/walking/speaking IMO - it just happens when it happens and they're all different.

kateyjane nice to hear from you. Hope Tom gets sorted properly soon. Nice to hear 4 and working is possible. We might just consider taking the plunge and ttc dc4 by the end of next year. Although DH often points out we would actually have to be having sex to have any chance of having a dc4!!

Our dogs are big fans of weaning too hobnob. Molls loves her food too.

ego We're not doing swine flu vaccinations here unless people are high risk including kids. I happily had it while pg and if there was a big epidemic I'd definitely get Molls done. (I spent a bit of time looking at family history when I was pg with Molls and too sick to do much apart from lie in bed and surf. Was a better plan than spending more money on Amazon... My Mum's grandfather was one of 13 and due to flu only 5 made it to adulthood. We underestimate how scary flu can be IMO).

zzzzzzzzzz

So tired, I'll sign off. Happy Christmas to all of you and especially our gorgeous babies in their first Christmas. Hope Santa is good to us all :)

NineLadiesDancingThroughLife · 23/12/2010 23:30

It's so nice to hear from some of the old crowd!

Heffa - Sad for DH's grandad. Thinking of you all.

LuckyC - what a nightmare with the house. Hope it gets sorted soon.

ML - I love keeping up with Olivia's pics on fb. But really annoyed for you with (D?)H

Hobnob/Molly - I wish I had a dog now!

Well I had my second ever night out last night with a load of the local mums I've collected from all the groups I go to Grin We had a lovely meal and too much wine, so I was feeling rather green this morning. Luckily Darcey was happy just to lie in bed next to me and not make too much noise. I won't be doing that again for a while - it was the first time in over a year that I've been drunk, and I probably won't have/want another chance again for ages.

Darcey is desperately trying to crawl. She's managing to shuffle backwards, but while I was dressing her for bed tonight she went forward! Yay! We'll see how she carries on with it. Her first tooth broke through this week as well. I can't believe how much she's changed this month! She'll be 7 months on boxing day.

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you all have a fabulous time with our newbies Xmas Grin

rachelfruitloop · 24/12/2010 10:26

Hi Ladies!!!!

Merry Christmas! Xmas Grin

I am STILL reading every day, though I so rarely get a chance to post any more. It's nice to hear about how you all are doing! I just have a fleeting moment now so I apologise for the lack of personals!

A year ago today I had the 20 weeks scan and found out that it was an Eric and not a Laura in my tummy! That seems like yesterday and yet so long ago at the same time!

Eric is on the move now, so I am kept very busy on Lego/rubbish patrol and pulling ethernet cables out of his mouth! Anyone with a more stationary baby, if you're reading about all the movers, don't feel bad - my DS1 was a stationary baby so this is a whole new world for me and I miss having a baby I could set down and come right back to where I left him! I've just started putting Eric in 12-18 month sized clothes in the last couple of weeks. He's babbling like crazy now, someone said (Pigley?) that they use the "da da da"s as an opportunity to nudge DH in the night to say the baby is calling you! I do that as well! Eric is still waking at around 2:30 am and 5:30 am for breastfeeds, but I am used to it now, I think. I must produce about 6 pints a day now! Finger foods are going well, but he's not swallowing too much yet. He's a pro at making a mess, though! Definitely a member of our family!

We returned from our trip to Los Angeles on 10 December, and have only just gotten over the jet lag. They say a day of recovery for every hour time difference, we had our 8 days of waking in the night sleeping until noon and sure enough, almost back to normal on the 9th day! The trip was fantastic, we had such a great time. DS1 really enjoyed Disneyland especially this time around. My parents were completely besotted by Eric and DH and I even went out to dinner childless a couple of times! Flying with the kids was ok, it's 11 hours going there, DS1 has always been good, this being his fourth trip to LA. Eric is just so squirmy, I was exhausted by the time we got there. Coming back was a bit shorter because of the tailwind, about 10 hours, and an overnight flight, so Eric managed to sleep a few hours which was good. He didn't fit very well in the cot they clipped on to the wall and hated being strapped down on his back, so he did most of his sleeping on my chest. I think next time we go to LA, Eric will be about two years old, now THAT is going to be an experience! He will absolutely need his own seat.

My sister bought the boys matching shirts, ties and jumpers and we had portraits done of them while we were on holiday to include in our Christmas cards. They came out so cute! I've put it on my MN profile, and also added to FB.

I'm feeling a bit more homesick than usual now, especially as we had the coldest overnight temperature for the UK here the other night, minus 19! The weather in LA was so nice, about 20 most days! They have had a lot of rain since we left and a bit of flooding, so we timed the trip well. We also avoided any of the snow disruptions at Heathrow, so I feel very fortunate.

I've just arranged my spare annual leave to follow on after my maternity leave, so I won't be back at work until 18 June! I'm so glad! Hats off to you ladies back at work already, it must be so hard.

I hope that everyone enjoys their first Christmas with the babies! Looking forward to reading about how everyone celebrated! Hugs to you all!

Katey - good to hear from you, hope test results are OK and Tom improves soon.

Pamelat - hope you're all feeling better

Molly - really hope you get some sleep over Christmas and feel less exhausted soon.

Dancing - glad Darcey is doing well, hope she gets crawling soon! It's a pain when they desperately want to be able to do something and can't quite manage it.

Rachel - love the photo of your boys, so cute :) Glad you had such a lovely time on holiday! Flight sounds like a bit of a nightmare, not sure I'd have the guys to take the DCs on a plane! Yay for not going back to work till June :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and plenty of sleep Xmas Grin

pamelat · 24/12/2010 20:00

Merry Christmas to all

Alex is very poorly "just" with a cold and chest infection but very unhappy Sad a bit like me a week or so back, poor sausage.

2 nights of holding him upright in our bed, just taking it in turns. Anti biotics today so hopefully some improvement soon. Waking half hourly again at the moment, he is just to full of gunk Sad

One born every Christmas is just coming on!! Smile

pigleychez · 30/12/2010 23:01

Quick Message..

Hope everyone had a fab christmas. Both girls got spoilt rotten and ive been struggling to find room for them all! Loved Lucy's first christmas :)

Having a nightmare week with DD1 having major tantrums :( Hoping its just because she's unsettled what with lots of visiting relatives, friends etc over christmas.

My sister had a baby tonight, so I now have a New Year Nephew called Blake. Tiddler at 6lb 6 ozs about a week early. So im an Auntie 3 times over now :)
Spookily enough her 2 births have been practically the same as my 2 with the girls!

Ive been busy decorating Lucys room.. Turning it from the cream neutral nursery to a pale pink and lemon girly room :) I love decorating.

Quiet new year's eve planned here with neighbours round for a chinese. Then family round for New years day.

Happy New Year everyone!!! Xmas Grin

pamelat · 31/12/2010 20:55

Happy New Year [smile} to everyone, it feels like Alex has gone all grown up on me Smile Sad Grin he now cries unless he can hold my hand to stand!! love it

Happy new year

DancingThroughLife · 02/01/2011 22:27

Happy New Year everyone!

Pigley, I bet it's really strange having so many people in and out for such a long time - a week must seem so long in toddlerland. Hope everything settles soon. And congratulations on your new nephew! Grin

Darcey crawled the day after Boxing Day! No stopping her now, she gets quicker and more coordinated every day. It's scary.

Had a horrible fright this morning. She feel asleep in our bed this morning while we were having a slob morning, so we got up and were pottering about, in and out of the bedroom. One of the times I was out for a couple of minutes, and she'd woken up, wriggled around the bed and fallen off Sad [sick] She's fine, I kept a close eye on her all day, but that's one rite of passage I'd hoped to avoid for a while yet. No more sleeping in our bed!

We got her next car seat this week too. She's been in a lie flat one, you might have seen the pics on my fb, but she's trying to get out of it now (trying to sit up when she's strapped in). We've gone for the BeSafe Izi Combi to keep her rear facing for as long as possible, and it's lovely! Takes up most of the car, but it's worth it. I just want to keep driving now Blush

It's 2011 - this time next year we'll have one-year-olds! It's going too fast for my liking Smile

TickettyBoo · 02/01/2011 22:56

Hello ladies (waves tentatively from the door lol) - can I join you?

Me in a nutshell...

My lo was born 17th May and is now 7.5 months old, she was born by c-section, seems to long ago now!!! lol.

She's a little cracker, a diva in the making she has mummy running around after her and has shown no signs or interest in crawling or rolling yet - the HV did sensitively say she might be slower to move as she has more to move tho!! charming lol Hmm - admittedly she is in some of her 12-18 month clothes already and at her 6 month weigh in was 22lb 11.5oz!! eek!! No wonder my back hurts! lol. She loves her food and I started weaning around 5 months, am introducing finger foods now - scary and exciting!

I go back to work part-time on the 17th of this month, not happy but needs must :(

Hope you all had a lovely first Christmas with your babes and happy new year :) xx

rachelfruitloop · 03/01/2011 00:30

Hi Ladies,
Happy New Year!

Welcome TickettyBoo! It looks like we'll need a new thread soon, but if you go way back you can find the baby list on the first page, second post, if you'd like to add yours to the list feel free to repost it with your info.

I'm very slowly typing this post on my android mobile that DH got me for Christmas, it is such a fun gadget to play with. So fun that DH had to go and get himself one yesterday, committing to a new mobile tariff. I'm sure he knows what he's doing! Haven't gotten to grips with all the symbols yet, but I'm smiling!

How was everyone's Christmas? Sounds very hectic but festive at yours Pigley, how is Lucy's bedroom decorating going? Big congratulations on the birth of your nephew!

Our Christmas was quiet and very nice. Just DH and I and the two boys. Eric and his big brother wore matching pyjamas that my mum bought for them, and DS1 was very excited as he remembers last Christmas so could really anticipate this one. It was so lovely to experience it with him. It's times like these that prove to me just how empty life would be if I wasn't a mummy!

I'm feeling broody again, I'm hoping that the start of the new series of Shameless will counteract the effect of the new series of One Born Every Minute! I don't need to add a 13 lb baby to my life this year (or any year, but it's just such an alluring prospect... NO! Stop it, Mother Nature!) What did you think of One Born At Christmas, Pamelat? I was ready with the tissues but didn't cry, though I had trouble paying attention while playing with my mobile I must admit!

DH and I had our 8th wedding anniversary on New Year's Eve, he was working during the day, and we both were tired, so we celebrated with a Chinese takeaway. Just managed to stay awake until midnight. Now just looking forward to Wednesday when DS1 returns to preschool. The house is pretty much a toy explosion until then!

Dancing It's exciting news that Darcey is crawling. I think crawling off the bed is going to be Eric's first fall, I'm amazed we've avoided anything yet. DS1 fell off the sofa at 6 weeks and when he was nearly one year had a fall head first off my bed onto the hardwood floor, it was sickening as you say. He was fine though, despite the goose egg on his forehead. Yes, I think we're about to go into the more accident prone phase with this lot, which reminds me, I really need to lower Eric's cot mattress! Father Christmas brought him a playpen, I am making good use of it already.

Pamelat sounds like you have your hands full with Alex wanting to stand all the time now!

I've already written so much more than I intended so I'll finish here! I hope everyone is well and has a great 2011!

OP posts:
Carikube · 03/01/2011 10:49

Happy New Year everyone...

We're in a bit of a zombie state here today as DD2 was awake screaming for a lot of the night. I'm hoping that it is her teeth coming through as that at least would be a reason for it - we've gone from sleeping through to waking at least twice a night for feeds and I'm exhausted. DH is able to sleep anywhere so he is flaked out on the sofa next to me whereas I seem to have done everything today and am ready for my bed again.

As for falls, DD1 had a big one yesterday - DH decided to put her in DD2's cot whilst we were doing stuff in their room and she launched herself out, right on to the wooden floor. It was quite a bang and she only just missed hitting her head on the chest of drawers on the way down. Fortunately she seems fine (albeit with a very bruised forehead) but we were in a bit of a state for a while.

rachel I'm really torn as i still feel broody (but after nights like last night, less so!) but we are also still thinking about what I'm going to do work-wise. I think I might have resigned myself to going back at least part-time even though I had it in my head for ages that I was going to be a SAHM. At 37 though I really don't want to wait too long before trying again...decisions, decisions....

pamelat · 03/01/2011 13:27

Welcome tickkety boo my DS was also born 17 May and is also a podge Wink I love him like that!! He feels very robust!

dancing well done to Darcey!!

It feels like all the LO's are moving really early as my DD didnt crawl nor want to until almost 11 months but maybe she was/is lazy Smile she still wants carrying everywhere at almost 3!! Alex will be moving within weeks I would imagine, still crying unless held to stand!! Monkey.

He has in the last couple of days started crying if he cant see me. Whist its cute its very impractical!!! I think its because we have had lots of people round over christmas and he has been passed about a lot.

Rachel I also feel broody, to the extent that it makes me cry if I think about never having another one Sad but DH doesnt want one and in reality I struggle with 2 nevermind 3!! I also think that for the first 6 months with both of my mine I have had mild PND so I dont want to put them/DH or me through that again. But part of me thinks its only 6 months .... !!

Hope everyone is well. Last day of the holidays for my DH, had got used to having him around!!

TickettyBoo · 03/01/2011 21:22

Lol pamelat, robust is a good word! Do you get fed up of people saying "wow, he's sooooo big" !!! lol Grin - am slowly getting used to it but still feel a bit offended on her behalf occasionally!!

Carikube we had a night like that a week ago and she cut her first tooth around that time, just waiting for it to come through properly now :)- hope it was teething rather than a change in routine and settling! They keep us on our toes don't they!

x

TwentiethCenturyChristmasCarol · 04/01/2011 08:17

Pigley - congrats on new nephew, how lovely :)

TickettyBoo - welcome to the thread :)

Pamelat - DS gets upset if he's not standing as well, and wherever we put him down he shuffles to somewhere he can stand up and pulls himself up Hmm. Getting him dressed is a nightmare atm as he has to be hanging off me to get it done.

I'm sometimes quite broody and sometimes not too fussed. I think really I probably won't get to have another one as DH isn't keen but am very sad to think that I'm done. Maybe will have another one much later on like my Mum did with me!

Hope everyone's OK today as normality starts up again! Happy New Year :)

cupcakefairy · 04/01/2011 22:26

Quick post to say happy new year all! Welcome tickety and congrats pigley on your newphew!

I cried at One Born at Christmas rachel! I find myself sobbing at anything to do with babies now it's really quite weird. Even watching the music channels before christmas whenever that x factor video from last year came on (You are Not Alone) all those clips of the contestants at Great Ormond Street hospital had me sobbing Blush how embarrassing!!

We have a crawler here too, proper fast aswell it's quite scary! We've already had an accident with a candle on christmas day (no burns though thankfully, he just got wax on his hands but still horrible) We're going to have to make some big changes to the house I think as he is just pulling everything off the coffee table/shelves etc. Meh.

pigleychez · 05/01/2011 20:17

Thanks for all your congrats on my Nephew. They had to stay in for a few days as he had an infection and couldnt hold his body temp so he needed Antibiotics to clear it up. Alls well now though and they are home so going to visit them at the weekend.:)

Im glad to report being back in our normal routine has really helped and DD1 is back on track. The odd tantrum but thats normal!
In fact she's been really sweet and loving with Lucy.

Dancing- Yay on the Crawling :) :( on her fall though. Glad shes ok now.

TickettyBoo- Welcome aboard :)

Rachel- Lucys room is all painted now and almost finished. I need to get a new picture for the wall and her new curtains have been ordered but been delayed. I cant wait for them to come so it looks complete. The room is half pale pink and half lemon and has mirrored butterfly stickers on the wall. I will post some pictures once the curtains arrive.

Totally agree with you about enjoying christmas more when the kids are old enough to understand. DD1 is 2.5 now and really started to get it this year. Christmas isnt Christmas without kids is it Grin

I'm another one that is torn in the Number 3 decision. Confused DH is quite happy to stick with 2 but part of me would love to be pregnant with number 3 now. Blush

Heffa- I caught Lucy trying to pull herself up yesterday too. Shes another one who likes standing too. If you try and sit her down her legs go ridged and stiff!

Cupcake- Yay on the crawling :)

It looks like Lucy is cutting her first tooth which may explain the 2 unsettled nights we had earlier in the week. Last night she slept through till 6am! :)
She also has a horrible cold which meant she was waking herself up coughing and sniffing. Poor little thing!

DD1 had a settling in morning at Nursery yesterday which she loved. Shes very excited about starting on Monday. Ill be the one in tears, not her! Blush

wibblela · 06/01/2011 20:35

Just sticking my head in the door to say Happy New Year to everyone (c:

FumbleIsOnADiet · 06/01/2011 20:51

Can I join you? Have looked for a May 2010 thread before with no luck.

Betty was born 22nd May. 6.5 weeks early so should have been a July baby but is catching up quickly and I've always felt slightly Sad about not having anybody with babies the same age to swap tips with...

She's sitting, rolling, giggling. She loves to stand with help but hasn't quite got the hang of holding on to support herself. We await first tooth (how long can it take!!!?)

Den26 · 06/01/2011 20:58

Happy new year all!! Glad to hear everyone had lovely christmases and that babes are on the move and keeping us on our toes!

Welcome Ticketyboo! :)

Rian not on the move yet - seems content sitting where he is for now but loves standing up on his feet - i think he will just pull himself up one day - he was holding onto the chain for the plug in the bath tonight and pulled himself up steadying himself with his feet off the side!!!! He's a big boy too in 9-12 months here and over 20lbs everyone always comments on how big he is.

He even reached out for his dad and grandad over the holidays which is a first and a relief - hope it continues in prep for nursery at end of Feb! I also left him overnight with his grandparents one night which was very emotional! Felt strange not having to do all the thins mums have to do but also nice sitting doing nothing with a glass of wine Wink got the biggest smile and cuddle in the morning too which was fab!

We had a lovely christmas and had a strange experience around at a friends where we were all sat with our babies!! Very weird as we all know each other from school!

Congrats on becoming an aunty Pigley and glad he is doing well now. DP sister is due on the 21st Jan.

Had a bit of a scare before xmas - late AF and had to do test!!! It was negative - mixed emotions was quite sad but also very relieved as i don't think we could afford another one right now

Anyhoo..hope all LO's settle soon with colds, teething and altered routines :)

TomlinTowers · 06/01/2011 22:25

Hi All Happy New Year!

Have been reading but not posting for a while, so I have read all your news. Welcome Tickettyboo and Fumble!

Pigley - congrats on becoming an Auntie! Hope your nephew continues to thrive and you enjoy the newborn cuddles. It won't help your dilemma on number 3! Den, hope everything goes well for your DSIL.

Well done to all babies who are crawling/pulling up. DD likes to walk around if you are holding her up under her arms, and in her walker, but doesn't crawl or shuffle at all. Her brother didn't either, just think I don't breed crawlers! She has started to reach out for stuff and swing her legs round when sitting as if she wants to stand though, so will have to keep an eye on her!

Hope you all had a good Christmas. We had a lovely time - it was A LOT of cooking but everyone was very appreciative which makes it worthwhile. DS (3.5) really got Father Christmas this year which was just lovely. I really enjoyed introducing some new things which will hopefully become our Christmas traditions. His little face on the 26th when there was no advent calendar and no presents under the tree was a picture though!

We are slowly getting back into our routine. DD is starting a couple of new classes now that DS is in playgroup 4 mornings a week, so we'll see how it all goes.

DD also been very unsettled recently, so I think she must be due some teeth. She is just constantly chewing and dribbling. She is also starting to "talk" - if I talk to her and then leave a gap of silence, she will blow raspberries and ummmm to me. So cute!

I also have two big decisions to make in the next few weeks - how many hours to work when I go back to work in May, and whether we will have DC3. Decisions, decisions, decisions....and all when I am shattered because of the teething!!

Hope everyone else is well and looking forward to reading more posts in due course!

pamelat · 07/01/2011 13:33

Hello all, in a selfish way (sorry) Blush its reassuring to hear that some of you are having bad nights. Alex is still terrible, can see two teeth popping through.

Last night he woke 930, 1130, 130 ish and then awake from 445am Sad

He has been "shouty" all week and not his usual happy self. People keep telling me to do controlled crying and I am getting to the point of maybe needing to but he always has a cold or possible tooth ache so couldnt anyway Sad

Took both the monkeys swimming this am, hars work getting them dressed after!!!

pigleychez · 07/01/2011 18:05

waves to wibblea, Do pop in for a catch up soon :)

Fumbles- Welcome to the thread. Love the name Betty! How long can a first tooth take?.. 14mths in my eldest's case! Grin

Den- glad the clingyness is easing for you. Your evening out sounds lovely.

Tomlin- Yes DH has already warned me not to get broody when we visit them Grin
Big decisions for you ahead!

Pamlet- Hope the teeth pop through soon and poor Alex can get back to being his happy self again.

Interesting hearing others weights. I need to get Lucy weighed again soon, about a month ago she was 15lbs.
Had lots of comments lately about how diddy she is and petite. I hadnt really thought about it and had her down as 'normal' untill meeting some other 7mth olds at toddler group and they were both massive!

Sounds silly but im quite excited to be having my hair cut tomorrow morning. My sis usually does it at home (shes a mobile hairdresser) but being busy with a newborn im going to salon. First time in yrs!!
DD1 is also going to be having her first haircut... Just hope the bribery of sweets means she sits still and doesnt end up with really wonky hair!!

DancingThroughLife · 08/01/2011 21:02

Hi all, and welcome Ticketyboo and Fumble!

Nice to see wibblela again, come and catch us up when you have chance.

Pigley, very impressed with you getting out to the salon. The pics of you and DD1 on fb are v cute. I get mine done by a mobile hairdresser too, so much easier and massively cheaper!

Tomlin, I'm so jealous of you getting to stay off work a whole year. I'm back now, only two days a week so it's not too bad, but it's amazing how much I appreciate my time at home now.

Had Darcey weighed this week - 16lb 6oz at 32 weeks. Another slower weight gain, she's dipped right off the 50th c line now, considering she started on the 91st! Still hasn't doubled her birth weight, and all of the younger babies we're friends with have caught up/overtaken. HV not worried though. She was very supportive of the still bf and BLW, and just said to give her more high calorie food. So I've got some cheese to try her with and she had yoghurt this afternoon - BIG hit. Sat there with her mouth wide open waiting for me to shovel it in! Shock I didn't think she'd know how to take a spoon from me, but I didn't fancy preloading it Grin

Fumble, love the name Betty. I know one in RL and she's such a lovely little girl - I'm sure it's because of the name Wink

TickettyBoo · 08/01/2011 21:17

Wow it's quite hard to follow isn't it! lol, am sure I'll get used to it, thank you all for the warm welcomes :)

I'm with you mums on the sudden waking and grumpiness, bless her she's cut her first tooth, the bottom two are going to come out first, soooo sharp poor mite! :( Have to say she's been a little star though and not too cranky with the pain :)

I missed her 7 month weigh in but at 6 months she was 22lb 11oz lol, a big girl! She's also over 70cms in length so quite long - she's in some 12-18 month clothes - dresses mainly and PJ's, but really 9-12 month is ok. I can't believe how small they mae some clothes - they fit ok on the leg but impossible to get over a nappy! lol

Feeding is going well, she had breadsticks with guacomole, cheese fingers, organix carrot sticks and rice cakes with cream cheese for lunch followed by banana (she's at the nibbling and playing stage with finger food rather than wolfing it down lol) - and for tea she had beef stew followed by fromage frais - lucky girl! I had a boring baked potato lol. Was so funny, I used one of those suction bowls at lunch and she was bending down trying to bite the bowl! strange child lol Grin

How's everyone else getting on with feeding?

Am also getting a hair cut next week before I go back to work - and boy do I need it, look like I've been dragged thru a hedge backwards lol

xx
