Hi Ladies,

I hope you don't mind, I started a new thread as our first one was quite full! I can't believe we're a quarter-way through the first year already! Smile

Cupcakefairy - I decided not to watch OBEM at Christmas because I thought I'd cry too much! I knew it would make me broody too so stayed away!

Pigley - hope Lucy's feeling better soon and that DD's first day at nursery goes well :) Hope haircut went well, I haven't been to a salon for yonks, need to get it done because it's a bit wild but not sure I can be bothered! DS is pretty titchy but people keep commenting that he's huge Hmm He loves his food and is getting a bit chubby but still don't think he weighs much.

Wibblela - hello and Happy New Year! Good to see you :)

Fumble - welcome to the thread, lovely to have you. I love the name Betty, so cute!

Den26 - scary re test! Glad Rian is reaching out for others now, that's great. Sounds good to have a night to yourselves!

Tomlin - ooh, big decisions. So hard when you're exhausted. Hope DD settles a bit soon :)

Pamelat - DS isn't a great sleeper either, I've been shattered all Christmas. At least 2 nights (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day :( ) where he barely slept at all because of a cold Hmm I'm a bit on my knees with it now but hoping it will settle soon.

DancingThroughLife - sounds like Darcey's clearly thriving so obv. no need to worry!

We had DD's 2.5yr development check on Tuesday which went very well, they said she was clearly very bright and doing brilliantly. One of the staff at the Children's Centre (the checks were run there) were questioning me about it though and acting really shocked that there wasn't a problem with her and asking if I was sure Hmm Angry Really not going to bother with them anymore, they're a nightmare and seem to be determined to find problems (they do it to other mums as well that I've spoken to, god knows why).

Such a busy week here, we finally got our new kitchen floor put in but spent most of our evenings tearing up the old lino and mortaring the floor, not fun! It's my birthday on Tuesday so looking forward to that :) I'm getting guinea pigs as a birthday present so we picked them up today and they're squeaking away in their cage. Very cute and DD is so thrilled.

Hope everyone's well :)

TickettyBoo - sorry, xposted there! It's great that your DD is getting on so well with weaning, she does sound like a big girl :) My DS loves his food, which is great, it's lovely to feed them when they enjoy it. Good she hasn't been too cranky with the teething pain!

AnAngelWithin · 10/01/2011 19:56

Hello all!! Long time no post!!!

Belated Happy new year to you all!!!

So many posts to read, will post personals later as I have to dash and tidy up a bit now all the LO's are in bed!!

Willow is a total darling. She doesn't really cry without a reason. But she now has 5 teeth, cutting her 2 tops ones on the same day last week. Cue all the usual dribbling, nappies, screaming Sad She is rolling a bit more now, tries to sit up with help, but still refuses to put any weight on her legs at all. Not heard from hospital about her follow up check on her hips so I think I will chase that up! She loves her food, and tries to grab anything to eat it whether its ebible or not!!! Not had her weighed recently but shes in 9-12 month baby gros now.

Anyway, as well, (D?)H and I are trying to work through things. He is being very open and honest with me, and no longer questions by checking up on things with him. He said that if it helps me then it's fine. I do check everything. I can't help it. But at the same time I know that I can't do that forever. We are talking a lot more about everything. He takes me out for dinner and we actually went out on a 'date' the other week to a nice restaurant and didn't talk about the kids. He seems a lot more conscious of my feeling and actually makes an effort now. For christmas he bought me some white gold and diamond star shaped earrings....we used to watch the stars together when we were 'courting' and he started making a charm bracelet for me. I must admit at times I have questioned whether they are 'keeping me sweet' gifts but I don't think they are. The tears he has cried and the things he says actually feel genuine lately. He knows he is a breath away from losing me and it scares him more than it scares me, as he knows I would manage perfectly well on my own, even with 5 kids!!! I have lost some weight and bought some new clothes and feel a lot better about myself, though there will always be the nagging 'am I REALLY ever going to be good enough' in the back of my head. It's hard with the weight loss as it is all too easy to slip into bad habits (had an eating disorder which I have probably never really dealt with) But I have lost just over a stone now (2 stone in total since I got pregnant, I was a stone lighter after giving birth)

Anyway, enough of my waffle, I am going to go sort the kitchen and then re-read and post some personals!!

Love to you all. x x x

wouldliketoknow · 11/01/2011 07:27

hi all,
back from xmas at last
happy new year
will post again

hollyoaks · 11/01/2011 07:59

Hi all, hope those of you who aren't on fb had a fabulous christmas and new year.

I firstly must apologise for the lack of personals but keeping with the thread ability is absolutely shocking, I don't think I've on for about 4 weeks. Blush I'm blaming going back to work, plus two kids, one who won't sleep in her new cot, nappy rash, teething and tummy bugs.

Anyway, one of my new years resolution is to keep up with this thread and stop being lazy and relying on fb for everyone's news. I've made some great friends on here over the last year :)

Grace was weighed last week and she's on the 50th centile at 16lb 11oz which is great. She doesn't eat much but she's still a milk monster. Still up for one bottle every night and then in bed with us from then on, won't settle back down in her cot and not sure how to tackle this without waking dd1. She also has bad nappy rash, though she's had diarrhoea since Friday, not sure how long to leave it before consulting gp, she's fine apart from that. Confused

Thanks for all the birthday wishes too, had a lovely day yesterday, dds got me lips for the xbox so we've been singing away for two days now, probably to the neighbours delight. DH got me a kindle Shock, he shouldn't have been spending anywhere near that amount, but, bless him, he said it was to make up for the lack of presents and party etc.. I never get because my birthday is at such a rubbush time of year. :)

pamelat · 11/01/2011 09:33

Hello all

Had Alex weighed yesterday for first time in a while, hes 22.7lbs!! A whopper Grin

Sleep is still awful, can you get/pay people to come in and fix things?!! Hes not getting Up (for the day) at 5am after waking twice at night.

Day naps fine so not sure of the problem, think it may be that he doesnt eat enough for his size and prefers milk.

He is not very interested in solids but is such a big boy he needs them Sad

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 11/01/2011 10:35

Hollyoaks - glad you had a good birthday. Mine's today, it is a terrible time of year isn't it? I moan about it every single year Blush DH always makes a big effort to make up for it though so that's nice :)

Hope DD is better soon, sounds like Grace is doing brilliantly.

WLTK - welcome back :) Hope you had a good time!

Angel - lovely to hear from you, glad things are going reasonably well. Willow sounds like a sweetheart :) Good that your DH is working hard to keep you. You sound very strong :) Hope you get a follow-up check for Willow's hips soon.

Pamelat - wow, Alex doing well! I think you can try sleep clinics? A couple of people I know have tried them, one said it was very useful and helped. The other said they couldn't really do anything but then her DS is a truly awful sleeper and seems to be one of those people who just doesn't need any much sleep. If it's any consolation, my DS eats loads of solids, still has a good amount of milk and is still often up for 3/4 feeds between 11pm and getting up for the day somewhere between 5am-5.30am :( Getting very very tired now! Not sure what the problem is tbh.

Best wishes to all :)

pigleychez · 12/01/2011 12:53

Hello ladies.

Well I finally got Lucy weighed today. Shes 16lb 10 ozs. About what I expected and is following about the 25th line.
DD2 wanted a go too and is 27lbs at 2.5 yrs.
Shes really cut back on her milk lately and really doesnt drink that much during the day but prefers to eat solid foods. Tad annoying that she still wants milk during the night though!!

Tickettyboo- Quite a few of us are doing Baby led weaning and have a little discussion page going about weaning on Facebook. If your on FB your welcome to join us :)

As many of you will have seen on FB, DD's first day at nursery ended abit early when they called me to say she was really upset. :(
Never left her before so i guess its not suprising. Im sure give it a few weeks she will be fine. Shes still positive about going so thats a good start. Bit embarrased about blubbing when picking her up at nursery! Blush Being a Nursery nurse myself it felt very odd being on the other foot!

Heffa- Glad the check went well but grr at the centre's staff.
Hope the guinea pigs settle in well :) and that you had a good birthday!

Angel- Glad things are improving with DH. Hope you manage to get a check up for Willow soon.

Hollyoaks- Glad you had a good birthday :)

Having a busy week this week with nonstop groups, classes, meeting up with friends etc.
Feel like I hardly have chance to sit down!

Awww, it makes me feel all nostalgic seeing the updated List!

Looks like it's time for a new thread, this one's so full! Any ideas for a title?

OP posts:
TomlinTowers · 13/01/2011 23:27

Wow, look at that list! I forgot there were/are so many of us!

Pigley - I hope DD1 is getting better, I'm sure she will settle in soon. We had problems with DS1 because he stayed with my Mum when I went back to work PT so was never left before he was 2.5 either - we resolved it by my Mum staying just for 30 minutes, sitting in the corner and not interacting with him at all, then she would go and tell him she was just popping up to the local shop and would be back in 10 minutes, and she would leave and come back to collect him 10 minutes later. We gradually extended the time until after about 6 weeks, she left him for an hour. Since then, he has been absolutely fine. Has she got a favourite toy or something she could keep in her bag in the cloakroom as a sort of comforter? I'm sure she will get the hang of it soon, it's a big step for them.

Heffa - two guinea pigs is brave! How are you getting on with them?

Angel - sounds like things are improving, hope it all keeps going in a positive direction for you.

Rachel - you have started our last two lists so I'll leave the name up to you!!

We just seem to have been mega busy since Christmas. DS1 now does playgroup 4 mornings a week, and DD is part of three groups in the village as well so we have to be up and out every morning by 8.20 to walk down to playschool. I am on my knees by the weekend. How I am going to do this and work as well is beyond my comprehension at the moment!

DH and I have just been out for a drink at our local pub together for the first time since DD was born, and it was lovely to spend some time together without the TV/ironing/housework getting in the way. We should do it more often really.

I went into work for a meeting this lunchtime for a couple of hours, and now am really not looking forward to going back. I forgot just how "political" it all is in my workplace, where you have to know who is friends with who, and who is out of favour - it is like a school playground sometimes. Think my best option will just be to go in, do my work, be friends with everyone, and come home to my gorgeous husband and children as quickly as possible!

Hope everyone else is keeping well. DH is off to see BIL in Brussels for a long weekend tomorrow, so have the kids on my own until Monday, starting with a friend's fancy dress party for both of them tomorrow afternoon....wish me luck....!

TT

hi all

all getting back to normal here, i've been for nearly a month in spain, great for oscar, does my heading with all the interferance, i don't dress him right, i certainly don't feed him enought, but he is fat, wtf?, my dil thinks i can't change nappies on my own, he refused to go see a grandson's football match because i can't be watching my son on my own, sil talked sense into him telling him if he thinks at home i call the neighbour to stay with me and help me with nappy changes... some bizarre behaviours like microwaving bottles, and put the baby on his feet on the bath holding him by one arm that i had to harsh adressing, but ...we survivied.

tryig to arrange back to work now which is also doing my heading, but....moving to a new office, so... lots of things i no longer need to worry about.

visit to the dentist today, she is tryiong to put as many visits in as long as i got it free, so... she's really nice, for a dentisit, that is

i sound a bit gloom today, don't know whay that is....

how you guys are starting with breakfast? i do lunch ad dinner but...i give a bottle first thing in the morning, and then lunch, i don't know if i should cut that bottle and give him cereal instead, thoughts?

rachel, you could make a tittle for the new thrread about the babies getting mobile, and mummies reluctantly back to work, as many of us are. you word it, you've done well in the others...

pamelat · 14/01/2011 13:27

Just quickly but we have had 2 nights of almost ok sleep, after months of awfulness and it has all been based on us giving him less milk and making sure he eats solids at lunch before his milk, its gone from waking 4 or 5 times a night, 1 of which was a feed to sleeping 12-630am !!!

Just wanted to share to anyone else not having any sleep yet

rachelfruitloop · 15/01/2011 21:38

Hi Ladies,

I made us a new thread! It's called May 2010: The little ones may start to crawl, and we're returning business calls!
