Lynny - Poor you, that 3oz thing doesn't sound like fun! Hope you enjoy your lazy day!

SFX - Haircut is a great idea, mine is so long now, haven't had it cut for about 8 months. Am going to try and go in a week or so.

KVG - Thanks for the info on miracle blanket, will check it out at the weekend.

Charley - I only started to swaddle dd at about 7 and a half weeks, so don't see why it would be too late at 9. She does fight it sometimes, but if I do it midway through her 10pm feed (when I swap boobs ) she is normally calm enough to be ok with it. She works at least an arm out when asleep, but this doesn't seem to disturb her too much. Let us know how you get on.

re: expressing, I tend to express straight after a feed, expressing off from boob just fed on (thinking hopefully this means I get some hind milk) then off other bood (assuming most of it will be fore mile). Usually manage to get approx 2oz this way. Also, If ds has slept well, at night, I sometimes find boobs are a bit engorged. I feed her off one the the morning and express off the other one.

Coop - Struggle to get into any sort of routine here too, but trying to start to regulate naps more, just so I can plan the day a bit better - wishing you luck

Sorry if missed anyone, must go dd screaming!

Lua · 25/08/2005 16:05

{grin} lynny!

MrsWednesday · 25/08/2005 16:06

Well done Lua!!!! You must be so pleased.

Lua · 25/08/2005 16:08

tea - I forgot about the hungarian thing! yep definetely spooky!

BTW, DD and your DS will do really well together.. every time she bathes with DS she cannot keep her hands off his willy !
I keep suggesting she washes his feet, to no avail!

PinkArjuna · 25/08/2005 17:46

Hello, Just a quick post as I am away as they finally paint my flat I got my exam results last week and A and a B so thats ok. I missed an A on the second paper by five marks - perhaps I should have done a touch more work on my assignment but I couldn't be bothered.

DS is fine - we had some worrying moments trying to feed him expressed milk out of a bottle. I was afraid he wouldn't ever take it and thus going to a child minder would be impossible. However he associated my milk with mummy's cuddles and doesn't want it out of a bottle but he seems to take formula fine. So the little darling won't starve at the childminders when I go off to college on the 6th.

I left DS for the first time to go to the cinema this afternoon. He was fine while I went. Charlie and the chocolate factory was great.

I hope everyone is well, I'll catch up with the post properly when I go back home after the weekend.

sfxmum · 25/08/2005 18:55

about expressing milk
have been expressing since she was born so that dad can feed her too. think avent pump pretty good once i got used to it. you really got to relax and it helps having the kid in the room, i usually do it in the morning from her least favourite breast (so out of favour that at first she would c refuse to feed from it).
i also found that she would not really take bottles from me but readily accepts it from dad even if i am in the room

finally booked hair appointment, bit worried since i moved just before baby born and on to new hairdresser, decided to go all out and pay shameful amount of money for it hope it works and not another reason for me to get tearful.
does anyone else cry at the stupidiest things? what happen to me?

JonahB · 25/08/2005 19:10

Evening ladies..

Lynny, I cant remember what your issue was with the Avent ones, but I tried to give DS expressed milk using Avent and he couldn?t use them. He?d suck away for 10 mins, then get really frustrated as nothing happened and start screaming. I then read in one of my books that it is really common for babies to struggle with Avent teats. I?ve started using Nuk teats and bottles, which he is having no issues with at all.

Mrs Wed, good luck with DS?s own room tonight. I?m putting my DS in his own room tonight as well. I reckon my DH and I will beat you and your DH for the number of times we?ll be going in to check on him in the middle of the night

Lua, congratulations!!! I've made a quick note to myself to drive through Chorlton with great care in the future

Pink, good for you!! An A and a B are fantastic results, especially in light of what you were going through at the time.

I had DS weighed today. 10 weeks and 13lbs, 12oz. He's now over the 75th percentile - bless my sturdy boy...

Have a good evening all

Lol MrsW
Arlo has been practicing for the open air pooing event - He tends to do a bit of a poo so we remove his nappy, only for him to do a massive poo as soon as his bum is exposed

Tea - your ds is outrageous! ROFL

Pink - well done for getting such good results, I know how hard it was for you to do those exams x

Lua - congratulations on passing your test!

I would like to have a go at swaddling ds I think - I'd like to buy a muslin big enough to do it with though and haven't come across any. I've got loads of sqares, but they're not big enough.

Lppy - I used an electric Ameda Lactaline double pump which had very good suction. It was about £70, I phoned up with my credit card and it arrived the very next day. I ws using a super duper one at the hospital and honestly, there wasn't any difference really in the performance. I found that leaning forward helped.

sfx - good luck with your hair. Nothing weird about crying over a crap hairdo btw. Just make sure you're honest with the hairdresser before you leave if you'd like it altering.

Re Avent bottles/teats - I only bought them because there seemed to be nothing else on offer at Boots, Tesco, Mothercare or anywhere else I went when I needed them. Has anyone tried Dr Browns yet? Still not got round to getting a Tommee Tippee.

Had first session of root canal surgery today Another one to look forward to next Thursday £650

tribpot · 25/08/2005 22:04

Charley, the Nappy Lady does some large organic muslins if these are any help?

I got some Dr Brown teats in Mothercare today, they say they fit "any wide-necked bottle" but haven't tried them yet.

to your root canal, not to mention the cost

tribpot · 25/08/2005 22:05

Oh and PS CONGRATULATIONS Pink, a fab result, well done you.

Cooperoo · 26/08/2005 11:35

Charley - Why is your dental treatment not free?? We get 12 months free after the babies are born. I am off for a check up in Sep as I was told I needed an x ray that they couldn't do while I was pregnant.
SFX- I think those hormones are still racing around. Do you feel OK in between times?
Yay to Lua for passing your test. My driving test was by far the hardest thing I have EVER done. Most stressful and everything. Actually that should read tests!
Pink - Blooming well done to you to. Those grades are brilliant in normal circumstances let alone with everything else you had going on!
Mrs W - Sorry you had a bad night. Hope you have caught up a bit now.
Hi Jonah
Mandy - Any routine yet ?
Well I am afraid I am in an excellent mood today as dd2 slept from 11pm till 5am when I had to wake her as my left boob was so painful and leaking everywhere . (My bra and nightie were sodden .)
DD1 has been a treasure today and played beautifully with me and dd1 doing everything I have asked! DD2 even settled herself for her morning nap!!
Anyone elses baby have cradle cap? I am rubbing some Weleda calendula cream into dd2's. I will try the oil tonight. I used olive oil last time.
I have been being lazy at night and using disposables on dd2 but for the last three nights she has weed out of them at the back (they are not full) so I put her in the size 1 kissaluvs last night and no leaks. I can't believe she is that big to fit in them though . I will have to take a picture of her in her cute size 1's before I pack them away. She having to go up to the medium wraps too .
I have also realised that dd1 who is still in her cot is FAR to big for it bless her, so I think she will have to move into a bed soon. It has been nice knowing that she is safe in bed but hopefully the transition will be an exciting one, what with that and the ongoing potty training I feel it is all go here lol. Take care Junies.

Cooperoo · 26/08/2005 11:39

By the way I am not saying that disposable users are lazy!!!!!!!!!!!! It is just lazy of me as I have the cloth nappies here and have no excuse not to use them as I wash the daily ones anyway etc etc

OP posts:
teabelly · 26/08/2005 12:30

Afternoon ladies

Coop - no go on admit it you do think we disposable users are lazy...haven't had any controversy with the Junnies for a while, he he he

Charley - we use the Tommee Tippee's and Dr Brown's - both are fab imo

Jonah - my dd was weighed yesterday and was 13lb 9 1/2 oz! (she's now just 12 weeks, and on the 75th centile - not like her brother who refused to come down below the 91st at any point after birth )

Coop - your dd's still in size 1 my dd's been in size 3's now for 4 weeks!!!!

Pink / Lua - CONGRATULATIONS ladies well done to both of you

SFX - oh yes cry at anything big time - especially bad haircuts...got one free once as I just burst into tears when she asked me if it was ok - they had to husstle me into a back room I was putting off all the other customers that much - wish I could have blamed it on hormones but it was pre kids!

Charley - I agree with Coop - your dental care should be free for a year after the birth of the baby...you should have received an nhs card from your midwife whilst pg (gives free prescriptions and dental care) - arrhh maybe your dentist isn't nhs...not sure what happens then?? Is definitely worth asking tho £650 is alot of anyones money!

Lua - LOL at your dd re their bath - you're right they'd definitely make a well matched couple

Right - off to make some lunch and try and eat it before dd wakes up from her mid morning nap...the race is on as she's due to wake at 1pm! Catch up later, take care, x

Cooperoo · 26/08/2005 12:37

Heehee Tea
I meant cloth size 0 and size 1 nappies. DD is also in size 3 disposables.
Do any other Junies have this problem of disposables leaking or does my dd2 just pee backwards???

OP posts:
PinkArjuna · 26/08/2005 14:10

Charlley I'm glad my little bundle isn't the only one who poos while having his bum out. He always loojks so impressed with himself too. It doesn't often happen (twice her pees more) but when it does He just smiles and kicks his legs while rolling about in poo. after a bath the other day too and he had to go straight back in. I am getting better at judging the pee now and can get the nappies on fast

Lua · 26/08/2005 15:57

Hi All,

Pink - congratulations on your grades!

re: bottles and teats... I would assume that avent bottles ae popular because their pump is so popular. At least, that's why assume I should use it. I want to try some different teats though, since DS is not too keen in the bottle yet. Does anyone know which brand of teats go with the avent bottles?

charleypops · 26/08/2005 18:19

Trib - I have some large muslins the same size as those on NappyLady - still too small to make a secure wrap though. Will you let us know how you get on with your Dr Browns'? Are you putting them on Avent bottles?

Coop/Tea - I have tried 4 times to get free dental treatment unsuccessfully - I have a card and everything - the guidelines are so out of date, dentists just take the piss. I actually posted a thread about my first visit to a dentist on here that really tried to rip me off. Had to get it done though, I could've lost the tooth had I left it much longer I guess. Hopefully Coop you'll be ok where you are. Lol at your backtracking

My driving tests were (up until having my baby) the most scary thing I've ever been through - I would literally shake when I got in the car - weird.

Pink - so far I have managed to prevent my squirmy ds from rolling in his poo, thank goodness, but he often manages to get a heel in it. He hasn't peed on me for ages. Shouldn't have typed that should I?

DS has got a rash under his chin - think it's from night feeds when I must miss getting all the milk off - anyone else had this? I put some Sudafed on today so I'll see if that shifts it. Might put some there before bed too as a barrier.

katzguk · 26/08/2005 18:30

you have visitors for a few days and the thread goes mad!!

will catch up later

Cooperoo · 26/08/2005 18:34

Charley - that is outrageous! The dental system is a mess in the UK isn't it?? I have got free treatment in the UK and out here. Here I am seen by the military dentists and they are great. In the UK though I was with an NHS person and thought that a clean and polish was compulsory for years (every six months), until we moved and I had the most wonderful NHS dentist who set me straight.
How about some liquid talc as a barrier??
Glad you liked my backpedal .

Lua · 26/08/2005 20:08

Aaargh! ex-beloved cat just peed on baby car seat!!! I'll never manage to clean it off now!
Any of you cat lovers have any tips?
Oh,and , anyone wants a beautiful siamese before I kill it or throw in in the streets?!?!

I want to scream the worst curse words I can...But have to be quiet as DH putting DD to sleep, so bear with me...
@$%#()&&*^^T$!!!!!
Sorry!
Feel a bit better now,

or maybe not!!!!

lummox · 26/08/2005 20:31

Don't mean to be unsympathetic (or give TMI) but our car seat has seen worse.

Not from a cat, though.

Sorry was so rude about the miracle blanket btw KVG - hadn't read far enough down to see that you liked it. Perhaps my ds a fussy swaddler .

Congratulations for exam and driving test passes. Even though it's years since I took any sort of exam or test the news about GCSEs and A-Level results always makes me think about how it felt to wait for results.

Weird thought that the next set I'll wait for will probably be ds's.

(After his triumph in the freestyle posseting section of the baby olympics)

Lua · 26/08/2005 22:01

LOL lummox about the posseting competition.
I think DS's best chance is at lamp staring...

I'm a bit more calmer now that I put through the wash... Sorry for unloading here!

Good night!

teabelly · 26/08/2005 22:26

He he he - Lummox I second Lua at the LOL re olympic posseting - we have a very talented bunch of babes here - besides the long distance puking comp, DD would also like to enter the blowing bubbles and babbling for England events...have found our voice this week and are being very expressive now it's here and completely adorable too ...DH has just read this and would also like to enter her for the 100 metre free farting in the bath event

Hope you all have a good weekend...anyone doing anything nice?? We have a bbq tomorrow, DH's birthday on Sunday and then a day for DS on monday (maybe a zoo if the weather's nice) - quite unusual for us as we're usually twiddling our thumbs on bank holidays trying to drum up the enthusiasm to do something...anything!

Hope you all have good nights with those medal winning babes, catch you sometime over the weekend, x

charleypops · 26/08/2005 22:33

Tea - v late for you? Give your beautiful ds a little kiss from me on Sunday won't you??

Lua - hope the car seat doesn't smell in the morning - I'm sure it wont
