Im just staying in the safe space of this thread for now too.

But pw,since when has Gordon ever bowed to the inevitable? Everything he has ever done has demonstrated a ruthless desire to obtain power, without even having to earn it through election. Unless someone (Sarah?) can make him see sense, it could get really rather ugly.

motherinferior · 07/05/2010 11:11

F*ck me Brent was close!

nearlytoolate · 07/05/2010 11:11

that was to policywonk btw, prolesworth you put it rather more succintly!

auberginesrus · 07/05/2010 11:11

Sarah Teather just got Brent Central for LDs, she looks well chuffed, but it was hilarious seeing her standing next to very tall man (she is a small lady)

policywonk · 07/05/2010 11:13

Yes I think I agree with MrJusta as well, broadly.

Ooh er things are happening

OP posts:
sallyJayGorce · 07/05/2010 11:13

Ah, teeny weeny Sarah Teather knocked Labour out. Show what lots of appearances on Question Time and Newsnight do for your profile.

NC suddenly seems to have a machiavellian evil genius streak, doesn't he?

Or are we reading too much into this?

thetoriesaretoast · 07/05/2010 11:14

Bloody hell, Labour have something on the table for Clegg already. But he can't go for it, can he, after what he said? Hoist by his own whatsit.

policywonk · 07/05/2010 11:15

Gordon is stubborn but I don't think he's going to try to rip up the constitution. He's not actually mad.

OP posts:
Beachcomber · 07/05/2010 11:15

I think Gordon will do whatever it takes to keep the Tories out.

ZephirineDrouhin · 07/05/2010 11:16

A little worrying that these mahoosive decisions are all being made after 36 hours without sleep...

nearlytoolate · 07/05/2010 11:16

Leningrad they won't just introduce electoral reform. i think its clear that it would be put to a referendum - and quite right too. Its the only way to isolate opinion on this.

It is completely unthinkable that NC would be PM - that would be even more perverse, we have never had a prime minister from the third party. We have a parliamentary system and a PM with 51 MPS at his disposal is untenable, sorry.

jennylindinha · 07/05/2010 11:16

Morning (just) all! Well done ladies for stayng through the night. I signed off just before 3am (I was PositiveLabourVibes but decided to change back as the name wasn't working...) and have only just caught up with you.

Supposed to be working from home today but not sure I'll get much done!

nearlytoolate · 07/05/2010 11:17

Ah, the first person to call for GB to stand down!

leavingonajetplane · 07/05/2010 11:17

That is one scary map.

auberginesrus · 07/05/2010 11:18

Emily Maitliss has good graphics on the beeb showing a clear North South divide between labour & conservative

Quelle suprise

Do you really think that Clegg could be PM?

Was not happy with him on the economy. Brown was much stronger on the final debate

auberginesrus · 07/05/2010 11:20

Labour have issued statement saying deal with libdems on table, and they want to take "first shout" in doing a deal

nearlytoolate · 07/05/2010 11:21

policywonk I'm not so sure about that!
First indications are that he is going to try to hang on. It will be up to Nick to say no. And he probably will.

KnottyLocks · 07/05/2010 11:21

Bizarre that with 52 seats, Clegg seems to have Cameron's and Brown's balls in his hand.
