It’s behind a paywall, but the headline tells you all you need to know.

Looks like Zack is a bit annoyed by the removal of power sharing by some councils.

And that was after his party declared a policy of eliminating Israel. Yet it still exists. It's almost as if The Greens encouraging a climate of fear and intimidation against British Jews has done absolutely nothing to help a single child in Gaza.

I think that's alarmist and exaggerated. They have not said they want to eliminate Israel at all. Nothing like it.

I completely understand that Jewish communities feel under attack at the moment and figures show an alarming rise in anti Jewish attacks. Considering what happened less than a hundred years ago this is causing a lot of anger and anxiety.

We must as a country get back to politics and focus on dealing with people who are sowing division. What is happening in Israel has nothing to do with Jewish people, this is politics and in my opinion and it's just an opinion is extremely damaging and dangerous politics. I say the same thing about Trump. There are huge differences in how people define some of the terms being used. Why the greens chose to debate Israeli politics is some what a mystery to me because I'm confused with why it's so important to the green party.

What the world needs now is to bring everything back under control. What is happening at the moment is chaos and it's running out of control. When things get like this there's a real danger of a flash point and that could mean sending your children off to a war where most won't come home. I don't think people realise how close we are and with People like Trump, Netanyahu and Putin we need to think very carefully about how we vote.

So what does a 'single Palestinian state with Jerusalem as it's capital' mean then?

Yeah they have?

WinterGold · 03/11/2026 19:44

“The binding policy motion, passed by 1,022 votes to 813, says Zionism – the movement for a Jewish state – should be “treated as any other form of racism”. It calls for Israel to be replaced by a single Palestinian state “with equal rights for all”.

Sounds pretty emphatic to me.

And of course, Hamas have already done such a good job running their current regime, so should this wish come to fruition, we can all look forward an even bigger hellhole.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/oct/04/green-party-votes-adopt-policy-zionism-racism

What is Zionism and why do some critics describe it as racist?

Green party debate over the motion ‘Zionism is racism’ comes amid renewed arguments over the meaning and history of a contested term

noblegiraffe · 03/11/2026 20:30

I guess @dwordle that if you thought that the Green Party didn't have as policy the elimination of Israel and thought that suggesting that it did was "alarmist and exaggerated"; now that you have found out that that's exactly their policy, you agree with the rest of us that the policy is both alarming and extreme?

I understand that Jewish communities ‘feel’ under attack is the sort of statement that leaves me in despair. What does that mean? I ‘feel’ like I’m under attack because I am? It’s not an emotion, it’s reality

TODAY the headteacher at my son’s school phoned me because at lunchtime 3 older boys sat at his table and for absolutely no reason asked him if he liked Hitler. Then did a Nazi salute and said ‘F* the Jews. Hitler had it right’. Their defence was that they didn’t know my son was Jewish which is (1) nonsense as everyone does - he’s the only one in the entire school and (2) kind of doesn’t matter as that’s a really horrible thing to do regardless

Does my son ‘feel’ under attack or was he actually harassed today for real?

Neverstopwondering · 03/11/2026 21:17

Zippy just doesn't get it does he. There is a line in the sand you draw between objecting to the actions of a foreign government/country and being obsessed with a country in a prejudice way. Greens well and truly crossed that line

Also his second post is amusing because displays his lack of knowledge about our defence buying and selling. We are way more reliant on Israel for defence buying and defencive information than they are to us. However he is talking like we are American because hasn't done any research at all, just repeating the American arguments.

Zippy Labour has already made us leaker by annoying Israel with rhetoric that has no foundations. Not to mention them unbelievably recognising a Pal State before the hostages were all released (something Israel specifically requested they didn't do whilst hostages were held), therefore interfering with the release of hostages negotiations.

Also seriously who is going to notice lack of coalition between Greens and Labour? I very much doubt it will affect much really anyway.

This is sickening. I am truly sorry that your son has had to experience such vile behaviour.

I assume the school will be ensuring that the 3 boys will be excluded for this racist bullying? No doubt there will be some mealy mouthed excuse from their parents and the fact they allegedly didn’t know he was Jewish is a very, very weak defence. Intimidation in any form or for any reason is wrong. Full stop.

Having worked in education, many Heads are reluctant to go down the route of exclusion because of the paperwork etc involved, but this sort of conduct needs to be stamped on hard at source.

Eliminate Israel = One State solution - with Jerusalem as the Pal capital

Jewish communities feel under attack = Because they are under attack - there is more to Jewish of prosecution than just one event in Europe. When Jews on mass tell you something nad is happening believe them because they should know.

Greens chose to debate Israeli politics = White saviour syndrome - Communist politics - Islamists - Trending currently

Sending your children off to a war where most won't come home = Something Ukrainian and Israeli parents have been doing for a few years now. However most the world don't recognise that because it is convenient for their own politics or ideologies not too. Even Hamas or Russian soldiers are someone's children despite the fact I hate what they are doing and have done my heart still breaks for the waste of a life that could have happened if it wasn't for politics and ideology corrupting young minds or forcing young people to fight in conflicts that should not be happening.

But Old Jerusalem is in Palestine, always has been. I've been numerous times.

Are you saying that by ' a single Palestinian state replacing Israel's doesn't mean that? Maybe tell that to the entire European Green movement who has denounced them. Maybe tell literally everyone ( including their own leader who proposed a rejected amendment to the proposal) that they are misinterpreting Green policy where they say they want a single Palestinian state. Maybe they are actually advocating an entirely uncontroversial two state solution and this is a fuss about nothing?

That is the equivalent of replying 'I have been to Narnia in the back of my wardrobe'. There has never been a Capital of Palestine and there has never been a state of Country called Palestine. It has just been a geographical location at best with no rulers/kings/government etc. You also are completely avoiding the argument stated by trying to start a new argument. The Greeare spouting nonsense that is racist and have a policy that wants to wipe out a country that does exist. Do you agree with this? Have you seen enough evidence yet that this is the case? Please don't come back trying to argue about the existence of a Palestinian Capital because that shows a lack of sincerity towards honest debate on your part.

Neverstopwondering · Yesterday 08:26

Jerusalem has only ever in history been the capital of two countries/states.

The names of these countries/States

(Drum roll)

Judea and Israel

(Shocked surprise)

(Sigh)

(Slow exhale)

(Wander off to get on with day)

dwordle · Yesterday 08:29

I can't find anything that says removal of Israel. Two state solution is my understanding.

I don't vote Green, I vote Labour. I'm not an expert on the green party but my interpretation of what is being suggested isn't the removal of Israel...if it does then I would oppose it strongly. We have a legal and moral duty to protect the sovereignty of Israel by what ever means necessary. If they means military action then that's what we have to do. Which is why we should have an agreement on the two state solution to stop the creep towards a wider conflict. My argument will always be protect life and protect sovereignty.

noblegiraffe · Yesterday 08:58

Your understanding is incorrect. What do you think they mean by a single Palestinian state covering all of historic Palestine?

Because this is what they mean https://palestinecampaign.org/resources/history/

It’s not a two state solution.

Do you now condemn this policy?

This is exactly the playbook. It's ridiculous/phobic/alarmist to suggest something is happening, up until it is undeniable, at which point it is a good thing and it's ridiculous/phobic/alarmist to think otherwise.

."This motion shall not be used to pressure, proscribe or discipline members based on affiliation with Jewish community institutions, such as synagogues, community centres or denominational groups, that describe themselves as Zionist or used to discipline or sanction Jewish members for expressing views that would be non-sanctionable if expressed by non-Jewish members (such as support for a binational state, or two-state solution)."

"We look for non-violent solutions to conflict situations, which take into account the interests of minorities and future generations in order to achieve lasting settlements."

These were the two amendments which were rejected by the Greens. One saying the policy could not be used against British Jewish GP members and one that advocated a non violent solution.

They are absolutely advocating not only a one state solution determined solely by Palestinians but intimidation and violence to British and Israeli Jews. It does make me wonder who these people are. considering they seem to be pretty aligned to Hamas.

Well yes. Cause Hamas aren't terrorists or something.

Am super confused as to how anyone is confused by their resolution calling for 'a single Palestinian state covering all of historic Palestine' to be anything besides 'and no Israel'. Where exactly would Israel exist in your head? If you want to see their vision for the future, you can look at the Edinburgh University Justice for Palestine Society insta page - there's a map of Israel with the name Palestine on it. My daughter's teacher wears this image as a necklace. It's in the Educators for Peace propaganda being pushed into Scottish schools. Endorced by the Green party.

So total nonsense that any of this new policy isn't entirely on the assumption that Israel.. and all those annoying Jews... would cease to exist.
