I don't believe they are anti Semitic, anti Zionists and and anti Semitic are two entirely different things.

Corbyn wasn't either he just opposed the Israeli government. If you can't oppose something without being labelled then we truly are losing the right to free speech.

Has the green party been hijacked... possibly yes but you can't label all it's members the same. I oppose halal meat slaughter in the UK...but I don't opposed the right to follow islam... my beliefs are religious beliefs have no part in how the state is run and the state should not consider religious beliefs when passing laws. 100% Secular and religion is 100% private and must adhere to state rules.

I'm wouldnt vote to ban religion as it's a free country but the idea that a religion gives you some protective rights for me is intolerable. You are a child of the state and not some imaginative friend.

I'm not Jewish and I have managed to have a good moan about Netanyahu etc with Jewish friends and have never been called antisemitic.

But accusing the world's only Jewish state (but no other state despite much higher deaths) of genocide, wanting to wipe the world's only Jewish state (but no other state) off the map, stating that the nationalist aspirations of the Jews (and only the Jews) are racist etc... there's a word for that.

You're very good at dodging the difficult questions, BTW.

dwordle · 01/11/2026 18:42

Difficult question is that I've not heard those comments come from Corbyn or the Green Leadership....had I heard that then my views would be very different.

There's one thing interpretation and another thing actually saying it. I know Corbyn and my opinion of him is he's an honest guy that wouldn't hurt anyone. As for Polanski, I've not met him but from I've seen my perception is a complete idiot. I don't believe he has the interests of the country at heart. Regardless I'm not accusing someone of saying stuff unless he's written it down or I've heard him say it.

I recognise Israel as an independent state and is protected under international law. I can see no benefit to reverse decisions and it's sovereignty should be protected by all means necessary.

I’m similar: I have Jewish friends in Israel (just someone I used to work with who made aliyah (sp?) about 15 years ago with her family), and they are all strongly anti Netanyahu, and have been for years. So yes, this idea that Israelis consider anyone who is against Netanyahu, or anyone else in Israeli politics, to be anti semitic is just not true.

The only thing I notice is that the now young-adult children, who grew up in Israel, are more rightwing/anti Palestinian than their parents. But TBF I think that’s because their experiences growing up in Israel have been of regular rocket and other terror attacks, unlike their parents who grew up over here, as well as the failure of so many peace initiatives over the years which has left them disabused and sceptical of peace movements.

Oh Jeremy we have someone that thinks you are ok, likely a handshake and a short conversation a few times

Definitely not sat in union meetings or on chaitable board with you. Definitely not seen when your unchangable political ideas have harmed others because they are more important than actual people to you

Are you honest Jeremy? I think we both know the answer and it is way more complicated and less pretty than that

Oh Jeremy my allotment loving friend of a relative and nemesis of my father how do you sleep at night knowing you are not the hero so many believe you to be

Nah, I meant the questions I asked you further up the thread...

And the Greens have just voted that 'Zionism is racism', for heaven's sake... not any other nationalism. Just the Jewish variety...

So yes, I think that is antisemitic.

ETA, A lot of Jewish people consider Corbyn to be an antisemite. IMHO, the Jews have a lot of experience at spotting antisemitism and are pretty good at it. Quite aside from that, I think he's either very very very stupid, or an antisemite.

He probably sleeps fine at night believing himself to be "on the right side of history" or whatever the latest tedious catchphrase is.

@Emilesgran I have a Jewish friend who made aliyah getting on for 40 years ago. She was full of hope and optimism for a political solution. The last time I spoke to her (a couple of years ago, post October 7th) she said it all very pointless, because 'there is no one to talk to' on the other side.

TBH it’s what I’ve come to think as well. It would never have occurred to me in the past to be anything other than strongly against the settlement of the West Bank territories, but now I would say I am probably more understanding of the logic behind them than my Jewish friends were any time we ever spoke about it. Which is not often TBF, as I would never normally have talked Israeli politics with them before Oct 7th, but since then my friend told me that her husband has an uncle who lives in one of the settlement villages, and that they (my friends) have had many arguments with him because they’ve always been against the settlements.

I think that’s what they still believe, but now that I know how the geography of Israel makes those hills a vital military position, I understand why the “Hilltop Youth” decided to occupy those areas. If you think peace is possible, then it may make sense to cede territory that could be crucial in a time of war - but at this stage it doesn’t seem as though the Palestinians want peace. But I don’t feel it’s up to me to take a position on it either way.

The derail was so worth it for that t shirt and annual from 2018 😂

Everyone in my circle hates the current government. But the rightwing shift occurred because people rejected previous policies which in their view granted too many freedoms to potential terrorists and bad actors, leading to preventable injuries and deaths.

If I were living in a country that faced constant security threats, would I hold liberty and equality over personal safety and the safety of loved ones? When the risks of death and destruction are very real?

These are the decisions they have had to face.

What is it with the Corbyn personality cult? Why do people bother still listening to him and have him on the news with his silly loudspeaker speaking to the 10 people standing outside his house? Shut up Jeremy. You've single handedly failed to lead two political parties- one of which you set up for the sole purpose of leading!

Absolutely this - and without digressing too much - this is also the self righteous bloke who also thought the covid rules didn’t apply to him, whilst attending a (very middle class) dinner party despite his own fellow Left Wingers baying for even tougher restrictions. But that’s for a whole different thread.

Unfortunately Corbyn stands and represents for all that was wrong with the Labour Party back in the 70s/80s, which consequently enabled and opened the door for the political swing towards the Thatcher era.

Corbyn’s current cohorts in Your Party, particularly Ayoub Khan and Zara Sultana, make no secret of their dislike of Israel.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 02/11/2026 09:27

What happened with all that Your Party subscription money Corbyn and Sultana fell out over? Anyone know?

Yes, I signed up for their mad shit as soon as they announced it @BIossomtoes- are you a founder member? What a question 😂 very interesting though that you think no one else is allowed to care about potentially dodgy stuff in politics. Now apply that to Farage, maybe? And no I’m not a supporter of his, just highlighting the ridiculousness of your comment.

You specifically mentioned subscriptions. I don’t know why it matters to you if your money isn’t involved.
