You had a chance to put a stop to the dodgy little lying, pathetic twat and you blew it.

Now we have to listen to his bollocks and hate inducing garbage for longer.

9,000 people voted for a bin rather than this swindler.

He can’t even bring himself to come to your town to accept the vote. He is laughing at you.

Real “man of the people’ - why can’t you see that he doesn’t give a crap about you or your problems?

Oh well at least the investigation into the £5mill can resume.

What a fucking waste of time and money. Disgusting. Disappointed in you guys. 🙈

I‘m not a Clacton resident but I would hazard a guess it’s about unregulated, unsustainable immigration from groups that appear to be young and male. And probably from cultures that don’t do women any favours.

The landscape of many towns and cities is changing. Lots of people, and ordinary reasonable non-bigoted people are now sick of it. And by ‘it’ I mean the apparent intransigence of anyone in power doing a single thing about it. If they can’t do anything - at least be honest with the British public. But they lie. They say they’re doing A,B and C, but nothing changes.

We absolutely need immigration, we do. But let’s have some good old school British law and order and regulation about it. Not chaos. Not unskilled flotsam and worse, damaged, dangerous men who bring nothing to this country.

GB News admits 'smash the gangs' is working, as small boat crossings down 40%

Stopped the boats? New figures show a steep drop in Channel crossings for 2026 - forcing GB News into a 'begrudging' admission.

We do have British law, order and regulations when it comes to immigration.

We don't have a way to stop people arriving on boats yet but under some of the changes Labour have brought in, the numbers are falling.. Nigel won't be able to stop them quickly either and hasn't actually said how he can do it other than soundbites (within laws and reality), but in the meantime a party that wants us to leave the ECHR, get rid of our own laws that look after us and is pretty anti-women. Yay! Make it make sense.

Personally I think the major parties have treated the people of Clacton with contempt due to shameful cowardice.

Why did Labour/Conservatives not stand and run a great campaign offering locals real choice? Fear of the optics of loosing?

So the people of Clactons MP and their right to political choice was less important to the government and shadow than the optics of loss. And they wanted them to vote for a person with no political experience who is a national joke, a man dressed as a bin? As their MP? Ha bloody ha, hilarious - it's only fucking Clapham eh? Who gives a fuck Clacton!

It really is fucking disgusting OP, but Farage is not the only one with his arse on show.

Or because they chose not to play Farage at his own game

My politics sit left of centre but I can clearly see the harm being done by this incessant scolding of people who have a different view.

Voting and recent events have CLEARLY shown that a great many, a majority of British people want illegal immigration stopped and legal immigration more strictly controlled.

Everyone needs to listen.

People voting for Farage have as much right to a vote and an opinion as anyone else and if this scolding by people who see themselves as "betters" and Remain/Restore as "a basket of deplorables" need to take a long hard look at themselves and their own bigotries.

Oh really? I’ve seen the ‘harm’ done by Brexit. A stupid, mindless decision that has left most of us poorer, in a country with fewer opportunities for all of our children.

It is the Brexit mentality that could land us in even deeper shit with the possibility of a reform government.

we are allowed to be angry about vast numbers of people making stupid, destructive voting decisions.

It would be good if the mainstream parties could get through to the electorate that immigration is not actually the worst problem facing the UK. Yes, it's a problem that needs to be fixed, but so are the NHS, social care, defence, the criminal justice system, the environment, cost of living and housing.

We've been flogged the story that adding 12 million people in 30 years is the solution to every problem in Britain.

sally037 · Today 10:05

Binnyforthewin · Today 09:53

They have been constantly failed by the mainstream parties in the area for decades. The proof is easy to see if they hadn't been failed Clacton would be a nice seaside resort, not a shithole.

Oh of course but haven't we all. Doesn't mean I'm going to go and vote for a fascist though.

All you say is true. But Farage isn't the answer, he has no answers. He's a con artist selling snake oil. Look at his record as an MEP. He just wants to pocket loads of cash and be the loudest voice in the room

Could not agree more myself! No one is allowed an opinion these days without arguments and insults. I'm very centre these days. More leaning left but I can see points from both sides. Extremes of anything is never good

A majority of both Remain and Leave voters think immigration levels have been too high, although the extent differs greatly, at 53% of Remain voters compared to 93% of their Leave-voting counterparts.

It's now a minority of remain voters that are out of step with the majority view of immigration.

Britons have a more negative view of immigration in 2026 than in 2016

Attitudes towards migrants from various countries have shifted, with Poles in particular now seen more warmly

I do not think Farage is the answer, I think Farage thrives on division and hatred and uses public anger as a cover to shovel money into his pockets. But unless everyone listens, things will get worse. We need to talk, not scold and look down on people who are in the most part, lovely hard working people!

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · Today 10:12

itsgettingweird · Today 10:14

BerryTwister · Today 09:43

I wish Burnham would take note of this. Starmer didn’t, and nor did the Tories before him.

The fact is, a vast number of voters just want immigration to stop. Immigration is seen by many as the cause of all our problems - the state of the NHS, the pressure on housing, overcrowded schools, overflowing prisons, cost of living etc.

It doesn’t matter if you agree with this assessment or not. It’s what a lot of people think. And these people believe that Farage and Reform are the only party that will make it harder for non-UK nationals to come into the UK, and will “stop the boats”.

We are sleep-walking into a Reform government. And if Labour don’t address this issue, Farage will be at Number 10 after the next election, which will be utterly catastrophic.

Well that is a problem.

Because they blindly believe what Farage and Reform tell them.

But the truth differs.

Immigration by small boats started because of Brexit. Farage actually created the problem when he was UKIP.

Conservatives allowed immigration to hit record levels and then used hotels to house them - to use immigration as a reason they failed to manage the countries economy.

Labour have reduced both legal and small boat immigration but people don’t want to listen.

Well they do. But they listen rather than research. So they what the wrong “truth”.

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · Today 10:15

Dunnocantthinkofone · Today 09:10

Actually I disagree. While Farage pulled a stunt, I personally believe our government and official opposition should be compelled to stand in every seat

@LizzieSiddal I do not think the people who live there appreciate the politics in their home being dismissed as 'nonsense'.

And yet immigration soared under Boris who was the one who got Brexit done.

One Leave voter who was extremely keen on immigration.

They only care about Farage's "pockets"! I used to laugh at Starmer and his repeated use of "pound in your pocket" but it's clearly a lefty thing going by this thread, pockets.

The pockets of illegal immigrants never get a mention however.

Clacton already had an elected MP: Nigel Farage. Why should the other parties have legitimised this totally unnecessary by-election?

Windsurf · Today 10:25

noblegiraffe · Today 10:16

And yet immigration soared under Boris who was the one who got Brexit done.

One Leave voter who was extremely keen on immigration.

Is that why remain voters have swung ten points to much too high?

While the overall number of Remain voters who think immigration has been too high is largely unchanged from 2016, when it was 51%, there has been a shift within this group, with Remain voters now ten points more likely to lean towards saying it has been “much too high”.

I suspect it's the immigrants rather than the political party that has led to the shift don't you? Or are remain voters changing their mind because of who was in charge of the Boris wave? The left parties are the ones objecting to any changes to the long term financial implications the boriswavers will have on the economy. So in "pocket" terms a minority of remain voters are prioritising boriswavers "pockets".

In pocket wars terms, who wins? The minority wanting this immigrant surge to have their pockets filled or the majority that want to keep their own pounds for their own pockets?
