yep, counter terrorism have taken over. For those who said we were all desperate for it to be a terrorist incident: no, we weren’t. Tasteless to say so. However, the stated facts all pointed towards terrorism.

Suspect in custody now rearrested on suspicion of planning, commission of terrorism. The search of his property seems to have produced evidence to change the direction of investigation.

I was just wondering that, why did the police say there was no risk to the public before they'd arrested the suspect and before they even knew the motive?

It depends on what kind of terrorism it is.

Religious, political, old ideology, more recent ideology.

I kept saying the police said they were keeping an open mind. I also saw that Ann's house was on TV the week before.

The police and politicians try to manage the public, they did this with Southport, Henry Nowak and early insistence there was no suggestion of terrorism in this case.

Unfortunately each time it erodes trust in public statements.

But if at the time of speaking there is no evidence to back up terrorist or political motive the police should be able to say so. I thought the police statements made it clear that there was no evidence AT THAT TIME to suggest. Now clearly evidence and or information has come to light.

That. At no point did the police say any of those things with certainty. "there doesn't appear to be any connections to .... at this point" was the general wording.

I agree. The public has been kept informed as far as we need to be kept informed. This desire for armchair retribution, the public NEEDS to know. No we don't. We need to let people get on with doing their job without 67 million people giving their opinion on it and demanding real time updates. This is a murder investigation. It will take time. Motives will become apparent, and then we will hear about them. At first there was no evidence. Now there is. It really isn't difficult to understand unless you're wilfully looking to view the investigation through a certain, cynical, lens.

We are so bloody impatient. And we cannot be trusted not to lose our heads with information and go and burn down some innocent party's house in retribution.

Very strange. No statement that he’s been charged with murder yet so wondering if either anyone else is involved or the new arrest is to buy more time? Not sure if that’s even possible. Totally horrific if someone drove all that way to do that.
