Sounds like she's throwing her hat in the ring.

She says she's paid off the tax she owes and is no longer under investigation.

This apparently means she's free to run - and is going to.

No education.
No work experience except as a shop steward.
Has wrecked the economy along with RR by raising the minimum wage, so fewer people are being employed = rising unemployment, fewer jobs for young people.
Wants to increase taxes even more.
Can't speak grammatically.
Abused the tax system for her own gain.
Wears terrible clothes for her position.

Isn't that enough?

allthingsinmoderation · 14/05/2026 08:07

No,i dont think she is the right person.
I don't think she has the communication skills/depth of understanding or knowledge to explain complex national issues or to unite the party.
Watch her interview with Andrew Neil on corporation tax for an example ,she was woefully inadequate .

Like what?

The ones about throwing people under trains

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 14/05/2026 08:08

If the choice was AR or Starmer I’d rather keep Starmer.

wishingonastar101 · 14/05/2026 08:08

She gives off 'All Bar One' vibes...

pizzaHeart · 14/05/2026 08:08

No, and I’m definitely on the left.
I liked her and was delighted to see someone like her in government but she proved me wrong by this story with stamp duty. I know HMRC cleared her of wrongdoing but I personally didn’t.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 14/05/2026 08:09

No. Absolutely not. I guess her grasp on fiscal reality is zero and she’s anti business. The economy will tank further.

PickAChew · 14/05/2026 08:09

I am neither in her constituency nor a Labour Party or union member so couldn't vote for her but I would be happy with her as my MP and not opposed to her as prime minister.

DaffodilLill · 14/05/2026 08:09

How convenient for her that today of all days she is able to say HMRC has cleared her of wrongdoing.

How has she pulled that one off?

A backhander perhaps?

SpaceRaccoon · 14/05/2026 08:10

No I would not, because I'm not a maniac.

JaneFondue · 14/05/2026 08:11

No.
I don't think she would be able to deal with Trump either.

Ihateboris · 14/05/2026 08:11

No. She's just as dishonest as the rest of them. See Stamp Duty underpayment

Turnitoffnonagain · 14/05/2026 08:12

No. She's sneaky, dishonest and self serving.
Oh, hang on.......🤔

You put that very well. There was a discussion yesterday around the premise that Starmer just doesn’t have any charisma, and that wasn’t going down well with the electorate. Everyone thought they wanted to get away from the Boris Johnson school of celebrity buffoonery and have someone more sensible. Well we then found out we don’t like sensible and boring either.

AR will come in and give us a large portion of hectoring-Northern-working-girl-done-good and I would put money on that appealing to the public about as much as dog shit on the shoe.

Not only pulled it off, but not liable to interest and penalties

Totalmayhem · 14/05/2026 08:13

Absolutely not. Already demonstrated that she can’t keep her own affairs in order - trusting her with the Country’s would be insanity. And the fact that Labour don’t seem to automatically realise this makes me certain they’re not capable of governing. Shame on them. I think there should be a change in procedure - if you change leader, other than for health reasons, you initiate a general election. The constant flip flopping helps no one. I think Keir needs a chance - lurching to the left because the Country has lurched to the right in local council elections is just plain idiotic.

DaffodilLill · 14/05/2026 08:13

To be blunt, all she has is a big gob.

It served her well as a shop steward but her record so far is dismal.

Only around 10% of the 1.5m houses she promised to be built have been. (Anyone could have predicated that as we don't have the workforce to build them, or the investment.)

The things she has done have impacted negatively on the economy.

Her only asset is to be working class woman who was a gran at 36 and has managed to convince enough people to vote for her as an MP.

1dayatatime · 14/05/2026 08:13

xino · 14/05/2026 07:10

She’s not very bright. The thought of her representing the UK on the world stage is terrifying.

Out of all the potential candidates, Yvette Cooper is by far the cleverest, Streeting the most electable, Milliband the most popular in the Labour Party but not with voters and Rayner is basically a "Labour Liz Truss".

JaneFondue · 14/05/2026 08:13

I have many issues with Starmer. His lack of personality isn't one of them. Give me a boring leader anyday.

TinkyBella · 14/05/2026 08:14

When he’ll freezes over.

hattie43 · 14/05/2026 08:14

No of course not . She may have been cleared today but she sails close to the wind with her personal affairs , council tax last time , stamp duty this time .

Didimum · 14/05/2026 08:14

I have no dislike of Angela Raynor but I don’t think she’ll get the backing she needs from the party. They know she’s too unpopular.

Hoping Starmer stays.

Hallowedturf · 14/05/2026 06:44

An emphatic YES.

Simply because she would warp-speed this Government’s demise as opposed to the current death by a thousand cuts.

I hear you….. but another 2.5 years in power. The country would be decimated.

DaffodilLill · 14/05/2026 08:14

Ihateboris · 14/05/2026 08:13

Maybe she's lying again.

Ihateboris · 14/05/2026 08:15

I think Larry The Cat would do a better job
