Sounds like she's throwing her hat in the ring.

She says she's paid off the tax she owes and is no longer under investigation.

This apparently means she's free to run - and is going to.

Farage won't make it better. He doesn't like to be challenged. Doing a disappearance act at the moment.

£5m donation?

He will be chuckling at the SNP getting all tied in knots over a much smaller amount, JS today trying to wriggle away from the mess he is in was just embarrassing, the perp was married to the leader of their party FFS!

Absolutely not. She’s a joke and as others have said, the thought of her representing the UK is too awful to contemplate.

Yes, it would be a live train wreck, part of me hopes she wins, we need the financial reset, people need to lower their expectations of living like David Beckham on a Visa card.

If he is chuckling and has nothing to hide then why all the denials and excuses?

Russia hacked my phone is his latest excuse.

Who do you consider "relatable" in the Labour top team, and no it isn"t a trick question.

Well, Starmer, Streeting and Rayner all come from solidly working class backgrounds. I don’t relate to that-because I don’t- but I do think it’s important to have representatives from a variety of backgrounds.

CurlewKate · 25/05/2026 17:27

Why EXACTLY do people think Rayner would be a disastrous prime minister?

So why did all the working class from the north of England vote for Boris?

Pretend I haven’t. Explain to me.

People can vote for whoever they want to.

There was a reason though, I mentioned it in an earlier post.

A pretty simplistic reason IIRC.

Her back story is inspiring, but I find her uninspiring, she refers to her back -ground a lot in interviews, talks about everything she had to overcome etc. that is a red flag, you don"t need to know anything about inspiring people, just that they have a certain ability in their chosen field, I remember being shocked as a teenager to find out that one of my musical heroes, considered one of the most influential rock guitarists of all time, came from Weston Super Mare! It was pre-internet, news travelled slower, but the point is that you didn"t need to know that information about them, it was incidental to their musical skill.
In AR"s case having a grounding in how ordinary people live could be beneficial but once we know her background we don"t need it waved at us all the time, she needs sensible policy, and at the moment in the UK that means spending cuts, less immigration and a healthy respect for the bond markets, I don"t think she is on-board with any of these things, and I fear she is another in a growing band of politicians who think they can stare down the bond markets.

Relatively simple but it concerned very deep concerns that many people had about their country, and politics is all about addressing very basic but deeply felt concerns, not babbling about how to control and ban anyone who doesn"t agree with your 1984 fantasy world.

Actually-I don’t think she does mention her background that much- everyone who ever mentions her does though……!

I agree. I liked the interview she did on The Rest is Politics Leading, it explored her values and political beliefs in depth. It’s still available for anyone interested. I guess there’s such fascination in her back story is because that kind of achievement is so rare.
