Labour MPs are already mobilising against Starmer

Before the first results came in, some senior Labour MPs are briefing that Starmer has got to go.

Ed Milliband seems more than happy to have his name out there as being at the forefront of any coup.

Looks like Ed Milliband is goading Starmer to sack him. If he is sacked then he immediately becomes a frontrunner to replace him. If he isn't, then Starmer looks too weak to carry on as PM.

Keir Starmer urged to plan resignation to avert Labour war

Ed Miliband, keen to avoid internal conflict should dire election results trigger leadership challenges, is understood to have had private words

Always.

Because, they're not good with handling conflict and disagreement in the group, the finger wagging is something to behold. So, talking about Labour is risky but kicking the bogeyman is stabilising.

Actually, I am a Plaid Cymru supporter 😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿💪. I wasn't frothing. Just setting out facts.

I would suggest if Reform voters are “cross” it’s because they (and the rest of us) have to endure another three years of this shit show.

I sympathise. I felt like that in 2022. 2029 will roll around soon enough. Personally, I hope both Labour and the Conservatives get their acts together by then. I would far rather a Tory government than a Reform one.

I am very happy to criticise Labour. They have fucked up monumentally. Which is why I didn't vote that way in the Senedd elections.

Imagine how I felt - 14 long years and three election defeats. No, it was actually four elections.

BlackTogetherAgain · 13/05/2026 10:05

One problem is that the May 2027 council elections will see another few thousand councillors up for election.

Labour are terrified of losing all of them again - they are their foot soldiers.

Do they stick or twist now?

TemperanceWest · 13/05/2026 10:06

It is very odd that some posters assume that being anti-Reform = blind loyalty to Labour.

I simply don't want a racist party to take power in the UK.

Well choosing Corbyn was hardly going to be a winner 😂😂

You have a racist party in power right now (but luckily only a few more weeks)

Same! I don't want Reform OR the Greens OR Labour.

It doesn't mean I desperately do want anyone else though.

I doubt it will be a few more weeks.

Starmer doesn't seem to accept it's over and won't be going anytime soon.

Except I didn’t. And his support left May with no majority and having to bribe the DUP for their votes.

Racist? Do explain how Starmer is racist.

Only a few weeks? Has a GE been called? Off to check the news!

Yes, same.

Covering up atricious organised sexual abuse and torture of working class white girls to pander to perpetrators settled in Yorkshire from predominantly a specific village in a non-white country.
Only releasing the ethnicity of criminals if they are white men…
And so on…

Yes this. In a year’s time they’ll have similar and wonder why they dithered knowing how badly received KS is.

11 unions have put out a statement too, putting on more pressure.

Those children were atrociously failed by politicians of all stripes, police, social services etc. I don't think they should be used as a political football, though.

Only releasing the ethnicity of criminals if they are white men

Is simply untrue.

I agree we might well have this circus again, with all the calls for a GE etc. But it will happen whoever is Labour PM.

Starmer will go, but not for a while yet. The statement from the unions recognises that it all needs to handled properly.

eta statement;

“It’s clear that the Prime Minister will not lead Labour into the next election, and at some stage a plan will have to be put in place for the election of a new Leader”

Araminta1003 · 13/05/2026 12:18

The thing is, the drama and the circus, is that not actually what the public enjoys?
So Starmer going on and on is actually going to win him some favours. He should really be getting his face on the TV more and more and droning on and on. It worked for Bojo.

No it didn’t 😬 he did go.

Starmer droning on and on is pretty much what people voted against last week, well many of them.

Araminta1003 · 13/05/2026 12:51

@EasternStandard - if you generally bat Blue, why would you want Starmer to go? I do not get it. Have you seen some of the rest of them in the Labour Party? I know a lot of people just want the Labour Party to implode like the Tories because they are partisan, but surely the general public on the whole just wants them to govern and carry on, and mostly govern from the centre. The problem is not Starmer, the problem are the far left ideologically driven economically inane lot in his party. Those are the ones that need to go, for the greater good.

BIossomtoes · 13/05/2026 12:56

I don’t understand it either. You’d think people who don’t like this government would be desperate for an unpopular PM to stay. It’s very odd.
