Who are Scottish people voting for next month?

Differentforgirls · 12/04/2026 14:34

I’m SNPX2.

I'm voting lib dem for the first time 😀

As a disabled woman I will not vote Labour again after Keir Starmer's cruel attempt to leave some of the most vulnerable people destitute, and yes he was forced to change direction when his back was against the wall but only ever seems to do the right thing under duress.

People are now praising him for not joining in with Trump on Iran but tbh not getting involved in foreign wars is a pretty low bar, not an outstanding achievement.

SNP have let the country go to hell in a handcart, focusing exclusively on Scexit whilst ignoring all the issues they already have the powers to improve such as health, education, poverty etc.

Coffeeandallthebooks · 12/04/2026 15:02

I'm voting SNP too, as are DH, and both DC who can vote for the first time.

The UK is getting worse and there is no will to fix it in any party, and now the looming prospect of a Reform UK government, even in coalition, is the stuff of nightmares.

We need to get independence to save ourselves from the far right, and have any chance for a future. We produced 200% of our electricity requirements the other day. We've the highest electricity prices in Europe! I can't understand wanting to stay to be used for the private profits of others.

Can I ask who you voted for before?

Would LOVE to see Scotland survive without the subsidies it gets from England. We might find those nasty far right parties all of a sudden becoming quite popular there all of a sudden.

As for the election. The SNP are miles ahead in the polls because the SNP can blame everything wrong on Labour.

Which is odd, cos they've been in power for two generations and their only achievement was putting male rapists in women's prisons.

Coffeeandallthebooks · 12/04/2026 15:15

We do not get any subsidies from England. All countries in the UK are 'subsidised' because there is a deficit.
If you compare the deficits for devolved governments, and subtract the remainder of the UK deficit, England has far more subsidy, even per capita.

That is why I would like to see independence so that these ideas of subsidies which are proven to be untrue.

Which subsidies? There are two areas in the UK which are net contributors . London and the SE. The third is Scotland. So, what are you subsidising?

Lol. If you actually believe this (as opposed to just stirring), then I would say, just let us go then if we are soooo expensive. SNP are streets ahead in the polls because Scots see more and more every day why we urgently need to be independent. We are not a nation that wanted brexit. We don’t want Reform.

Yes. They don’t want us to go for some reason. I’m wondering if it’s because we’re the third richest part of the UK even though our oil isn’t attributed to us?

Ignoring the fact you are utterly consumed by the issue to the point whereby you invariably shoehorn a trans angle into every single thread you post in, the SNP did not "put male rapists in women's prisons".

Policy re trans prisoners was exactly the same before the SNP ever formed a government in Holyrood, it remains the same elsewhere in the UK. The SNP is doing nothing differently to any previous iteration of the SG or its counterparts in Westminster.

Libdem for 1st time

SNP have fucked the country and I’m anti Indy plus all the trans stuff
Labour are hopeless and are fucking the rest of UK
Tories no thanks
Reform - repulsive
Greens - total loons

So Libdems for both my votes.

shame the cult of SNP will continue though. Looks like they are on for a majority

DH is spoiling his ballot and first time voter DS is probably voting Labour

That is why I would like to see independence so that these ideas of subsidies which are proven to be untrue.

Scotland's public revenue: £91.4 billion (8.0% of UK total).

Public spending in and for Scotland: £117.6 billion (9.1% of UK total).

Net fiscal deficit: £26.2–26.5 billion (≈ 11.6–11.7% of Scottish GDP).

UK overall deficit: 5.1% of GDP — less than half Scotland's rate.

The UK massively funds Scotland and doesn't even get recognition for it. PLEASE get the independence you crave!

And a million other reasons

Just to add Agnes. There are groups like “Labour for Indy” (Sarwar was in it), “Libdems for Indy” and even “Tories for Indy”. It’s not an us and them thing. But in a General Election, all those people will vote for their party regardless as it’s not a referendum.

Most people in the UK but outside of Scotland don't want you to stay. There's been a huge shift towards indifference, and stay has dropped well below 50%.

The Lib Dems are just as insane on the trans issue as the SNP - in fact probably even worse. Look at Surrey.

Not sure

SNP are fucking useless. That they keep getting into power is proof that some people will vote for a dog shit if it’s sporting a black and yellow rosette.

Tories and Reform nope

LibDems - can’t stand that weasel who is their leader

Greens - don't want my vote as I know what a woman is

I guess that leaves Labour by default, not exactly enthused by them though.
