It’s worth mentioning that CK’s organisation founded the Black Leaders Summit and the Latino Leaders Summit. He also hired a Director of Urban Engagement with the goal of specifically reaching out to minority communities. That doesn’t strike me as the actions of a racist?

In Idaho and Tennessee you can’t travel for an abortion and other states are looking at the same. Why should someone risk travel for medical treatment. I’m only aware of Andorra prohibiting abortions under any circumstances. Other restrictive European countries still allow for cases of rape or where the mother’s life is at risk.

I’ve just caught up on the thread and wanted to say that there’s lots I disagree on but I do not think anyone on this thread is an idiot or stupid or lacking in education. Even if you think polar opposite to me, I still don’t think that. I think you sincerely hold your views and have probably (hopefully) researched them too.

Chucking insults at people who don’t see your point or share your reasoning is (imo) everything that’s wrong with the world.

So why did he say this about Michelle Obama - a highly educated and intelligent black woman.

If you had watched it all you will know he said the quote - hardly an obnoxious comment. The woman concerned are all highly intelligent and well educated.

I’ve already stated my views on him. No one should be murdered for their views but there is nothing positive about his views.
Thankfully we don’t live in the US and due to Trump’s views on Canada we no longer go over the border for lunch or shopping.

Im defeniding him, if you can call correcting a misquote defending, because I think lying to defame someone is wrong.

In this case its doubly wrong because it's about a recent murder victim, and because it ratchets up the polarisation of society. If you lie about a right leaning figure, the right then have more justification to lie about someone on the left.

It takes no more than 2 minutes to listen to it, you don’t have to listen to the rest - I did not. Stretch yourself and press play. Otherwise I have to assume you wish to be able to deny the truth.

Vance are encouraging people to write lists and tell on people who are criticising Kirk. So much for free speech. Or is only free speech for some?

Yes i have listened. What he said and what you quoted is very different to what the previous poster has insisted he said. Its highly dishonest to use direct quotes and change the wording within them to make it more inflammatory.

It's the difference between insulting 4 specific women who supported or benefitted from a policy he opposed (affirmative action) and insulting a whole demographic.

Imagine someone murdered Jeremy Corbyn tomorrow ( and i sincerely hope they dont.) If I pop up on social media and reply to a message of condolence, and say that no one should mourn an antisemite who said...

.. this is unacceptable, because the original quote is about Benjamin Netanyahu not "Jews". The fact that BN is Jewish doesn't make it ok, or make it honest. The misquote is clearly far more inflammatory than the original.
