This migrant problem is going to let Reform in isn’t it?

Honestly it’s such a bloody nightmare. Reform are making a total hash of local government from what I’ve read, putting teenagers in charge of whole departments with no relevant experience. What are they going to do if they are elected to run a country!!!! I’m honestly terrified. Labour need to be seen to be actively doing something to quell the far-right momentum that’s gaining traction from ordinary folk. I’m amazed at the average, usually pretty sensible people around me who are now telling me they are going to vote Reform.

there was an interview I saw yesterday where the minister said that thousands of people were being deported regularly. The interviewer asked why there were no videos of this and she said there could be. Well let’s see it! It would absolutely help.

If I had the option of going elsewhere I’d be going now…

Couldn't leave yet even if we wanted to, because my elderly dad is still alive and i have to care for him. I don't think he'll last until the next election, though, and if he did, the horror of a Reform victory would probably finish him off anyway.

Reform are also very cleverly stirring this up - encouraging the mob to turn out in force.

They want to create a feeling of lawlessness within the country so they can argue that they are the only party that can put a stop to this. Nigel Farage is treading a very interesting line - saying that some of the protestors have gone too far but….

Bringing all those racists out. Disgraceful.

I hope Reform do get in and with a large majority . Then when the migrants are hi pushed in tents with no benefits and deported to Rwanda or some such place, the boats will stop.
Farage will take us out of the ECHR, lower taxes, shrink the government, get rid of the VAT on school fees and partially privatise the NHS.
All policies I support . I know is a few years away but the polls are predicting a big majority.

Jesus 🙄

Well, good luck with it. You're going to need it. Thankfully, we have the option of going elsewhere so we won't have to hang around for the chaos that ensues.

But before you leave, make sure you vote Reform 🙂Thank you.

If it’s this lot getting worse then it’s nice to have an option.

Don't be ridiculous. I might not be willing to stick around to watch the shit show, but I love this country and I wouldn't wish a Reform government on my worst enemy.

So what are you going to do then? You have a couple of options:

  1. Not vote.
  2. Vote for weak-minded, feeble woke idiots who will drive this once great country to the ground.
In both cases you’ll be guilty, so you have a third option which is to vote Reform. You can still redeem yourself, sinful woman! 😆

I'm glad you think you're funny. I find your posts a bit sad.

Honestly, I don't like any of the options much, but I'll vote for whichever option locally will be most likely to keep Reform out.

Completely agree.

SunnyPrague · 04/08/2025 20:18

Yes it is, I’m afraid.
And for all the spouting off, I fear they’re just not up to the complex job of running the country.

AWitchCalledMeg · 04/08/2025 20:29

I have found myself actively hoping the conservatives combine with reform. I dislike and distrust both parties but I've come to the conclusion that there is no one else to turn to. Labour are trash, I actually loathe Starmer more than any other PM in my lifetime excepting the abomination that is Truss.
This country is spiralling down rapidly. Social media fans the flames rapidly, no doubt. But it isn't the root cause, I see what I see with my own eyes. Every nation has its faction of society that is hopeless, lawless and without decency - that is a fact of life. But what I have seen though mine and DH's work (public services) is that we've allowed in far too many of those types from other nations, as if we didn't have enough of our own already. I suspect the cumulative cost of this has been greater than any of us can bear to imagine. And it has been such a very, very long time since we had a government with intelligence, integrity, discernment and the ability to put their nation before personal gain.

Same. As will many other people. Besides it’s four more years yet!

Near to where I live a 12 year old has been raped by a migrants who allegedly came over on a dinghy. Of course people are angry. These people should be sent back immediately. It's almost always boats full of males. Reform will stop these boats by pulling the UK out of the ECHR and creating a UK Bill of Rights.

It's happening everywhere and it's being buried by the media as they are afraid of riots breaking out up and down the country. DH says the mood feels like all it would take is one spark. The tension is palpable.

No, I don't actually want to leave so I will do everything I can to stop Reform getting in. But if they do get in - and I think they probably will - then I will have no option but to go.

But Reform still haven't got any answers, none at all, same as the Cons & despite v poor polling, no one wants Farage as PM.

You're living in a bubble.

Reform are polling 34%.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/08/02/why-white-working-class-rage-is-surging-in-britain/

Labour have zero intention of stopping the boats, so the polls are only going in one direction.

Thank you for sharing. The 6/7 thousand comments on that article, many very eloquent and knowledgeable just reinforce to me once again that mumsnet largely a far-left extremist bubble and not at all reflective of the general population of the UK.

Our labour MP certainly isn't. She was a councillor who was like a rabbit caught in the headlights When she won. When questioned either says speak to your county council it's their responsibility or sorry it's devolved to the Senedd speak to your representative there.

Chocolate teapot comes to mind.

Farage is now claiming that it's not possible to go out in London after nine wearing jewellery! Is he actually high, or insane?
I've been doing this with diamonds on both hands and in my ears for most of the last 40 years and I've never been the victim of any sort of crime.

To be fair, if i knew that dangerous, creepy men like Nigel Farage were around I'd hesitate to go out on my own.

Impossible to say. Probably not if we're happily settled elsewhere, but it would depend on multiple factors - a lot would depend on what our adult dd decided to do, I doubt that we would bother going back if she wasn't there. I know she wouldn't stay if Reform got in, but I guess she might go back if they were voted out and it looked like it might be possible to repair the damage. Only time will tell.

I'm not even a conservative but we need to do most of this urgently. We've been too liberal for too long. You need an equilibrium. The problem is the Conservative Party weren't conservative they governed as liberals for 14 years. And we know what a Labour Party are going to do with taxes and open borders and all the rest of it. Therefore is the 14 years of the non-Conservative Party that's distorted everything.

EasternStandard · 04/08/2025 23:04

I won't say on here because the specific combination would be quite outing but we currently have 3 options where we could move straight away without a visa. It's most likely that we would go back to the country where DH and I first met, where we both speak the language and where we still have permanent residence. However, it would also depend somewhat on my dd's plans. We would want to be as near to her as possible.
