Will Reform win any votes at the local elections?

Deregister from international law.

You do realise that these laws protect you as well?

How many of your rights are you willing to sacrifice?

It’s a bit of a conservative delusion to think Reform are a challenge to Labour. They almost exclusively took votes from the Tories. Reform handed starmer the largest house lead in nearly 2 centuries. If I were Starmer I’d be sending Farage a bottle of champagne, a basket of flowers and money to keep campaigning.

Last time it helped. Next time the voting system could start to help Reform. MRP polls put them in front.

And Runcorn is coming up which has been Labour for a long time.

Plus Labour is more likely to be eyeing up the Balkans than any bottles of champagne.

Don't worry. The OP doesn't believe in human rights and won't miss any of them.

No. Let's nip it in the bud.

Oh, I absolutely am nipping it in the bud as far as I’m personally capable. I’m wondering 🤔 f @TalkToTheHand123 is the family member I blocked when Trump was elected because they wanted “Nige in No.10” but perhaps not.

Would be ok if just for this issue.

People who are so keen to get rid of their rights so that foreigners can vacate these shores should take a few trips to places where rights truly don't exist. But they think it won't affect them. They think they will always be on the right side of the party they put in power - until the rampant corruption of authoritarianism catches up with them and they or someone they love ends up deported or wrongfully imprisoned in a gulag or concentration camp... then it'll be too late.

xanthomelana · 19/04/2025 13:23

I think they will win lots of votes if the other parties don’t wise up and listen to the concerns from the public. I know on MN that the opinion on immigration is very different to what the average person thinks, same with funding Ukraine and the possibility of our armed forces getting involved. We’ve witnessed it happen with Brexit, everyone was so confident that the public would vote to stay and anyone who thought differently was wrong. Maybe now is the time to engage with the public a bit more and not talk down to them and tell them they are racist for wanting more secure borders or we risk another Brexit type disaster.

There are these things called laws which can be changed by mps.

There are these things called International Laws that require MP's of all countries to change....or do you think the UK still rules the world?

That doesn’t make sense. You definitely aren’t my family member, or my old English teacher who is also blocked. They can both write in very articulate sentences.

The bit about not being able to deport illegal immigrants from a boat.

I don't understand what you mean.

You are willing to sacrifice all your human rights and protections to be able to remove asylum seekers, 0.6% of the UK population?

That’s not true in my area. The Welsh Valleys have always been red but for the first time I can see the possibility that Labour will lose seats in Westminster and the Senedd. Reform has a large following and it’s growing all the time because people just do not like what this government is doing and if Labour doesn’t pay attention to that then their arrogance will lose them votes.

I've just explained to you that he can't. He'll just attempt to ignore international law.

He also talks about taking us out of the ECHR and Human Rights Act but not the Refugee Convention.

Have an alternative law to replace to keep all other laws but to enable removal off illegal immigrants.

Illegal immigrants can be removed already

Seeking asylum is not illegal

Law is not pick and mix

namechangenelly1 · 19/04/2025 13:29

Maitri108 · 19/04/2025 13:18

Because the asylum seekers are on British soil/in British water and France has no obligation to take them.

I really know nothing about these laws etc but would you mind explaining why it is that the UK can’t “sends them back to france”? Is the Channel just the UKs responsibility?

And why don’t the people who have made it to France, or anywhere in Europe, stay and claim asylum there? Why are they willing to risk the cross to get here?

Again, I’m very ill informed about the ins and outs of asylum/illegal migration.

thank you!

I think it might be a little pointless talking to @TalkToTheHand123. They haven’t started this thread to be educated.
