Will Reform win any votes at the local elections?

Blimey @Lonelycrab that really does take bullshit bingo to a whole new level. Almost makes the Reform leaflet that came through our door look balanced and reasonable. (Just to be clear it wasn’t).

on the flip side this is quite an interesting read. Especially the line about which current government policy is most popular amongst Reform voters. Nige and Ben won’t be pleased.

This is yet another example of the US ultra-right looking to infiltrate our politics (but hey, we see it's going great over there, ha!) We should really pay attention though lest we fall into the same trap. I just hope Trumpism collapses in on itself before the next GE.

The cavalry are coming lol.

So this is like the PAC lunatics the highly respected Liz truss (least popular pm in history) was hanging about with in the us. Aligned with Trump, Musk and also hardline “Christian” fundamentalists huh…

And the British public are going to lap that up approvingly are they? Do the British public like any of those people?

Nope

Ben Habib (the Pakistani born) politician is going to launch a party to the right of Reform is he😮 I don’t think he’s thought this through or understands the voter base he’s appealing to. Turkeys and Christmas springs to mind

He’s a very naive, foolish man.

And the British public are going to lap that up approvingly are they? Do the British public like any of those people?

I suppose not, but as I've observed on my own thread a little while back, some people don't like you to imply that they might be susceptible to US influence - which I think is entirely misplaced pride. Influence is insidious, by definition, and the more something is pointed out and brought out in the open, the more people can hopefully make up their own minds. Forewarned is forearmed...

If Reform do as expected it’s likely more to do with domestic politics and how people feel about the current gov.

@Alexandra2001

"Reform have zero idea on how to reduce x channel migration ALL their plans involve causing huge rows with the EU/France... one of the latest i read about was putting UK Marines on the beaches in France.."

To be fair every party has zero idea on how to reduce illegal cross channel migration because by definition it is illegal.

Labour's sound bite of "let's smash the smuggling gangs " is as unworkable as Reform's sound bite bites.

The only true solution is to make the UK a less attractive destination for illegal migration than other countries, for example national ID cards etc.

I agree, but unfortunately everytime ID cards come up so does lots of dystopian scaremongering. Didn't Blair want ID cards? He won a huge majority and not even he managed it unfortunately.

I like the idea if it's done properly. ID cards are efficient and practical and will make illegal immigration activities harder to get away with.

Not wholly sure she understands quite what powers the Mayor will actually have (or rather in this instance won’t have). Or that if anyone really did want a sword of sense wielded whether they’d want Andrea (or Reform in general) to be the one holding it. Presumably the sword’s handle would have an ornate carving of Boris as well, or a raised middle finger design. Andrea was a massive BJ cheerleader, though having joined Reform that may no longer be the case. Refocused sycophancy perhaps.

Though if Lincolnshire County Council gets a Reform majority…..

though a Tory run Council Lincolnshire still has 48 Sure Start centres, and seems to have a genuine commitment to them. Don’t know how long they would last if Reform took over running the Council.

Yes he did but the costs for a biometric card back then, was huge plus the 'right wing press were against it, however he did layout the laws for ID cards, later scrapped by Cameron.

However, ID cards haven't stopped migration into Europe and it should also be remembered that x channel migrants make up a tiny minority of people coming into the country.

We don't crack down on the 'black economy nor do we have a robust means to remove people who over stay their visas.... who has allowed this to happen??

Sword of sense 😂😂

The last person I remember wielding a metaphorical sword was Jonathan Aitken and his 'sword of truth' and look how well that ended for him 😂

Polls in Scotland for Holyrood 2026 have the SNP well in the lead with Labour, Reform & Cons fighting 2nd place.

There will never be either a Reform or Con FM in Scotland. Scots are nore left leaning. Brexit?

celticnations · 02/05/2025 04:41

Sadly, yes.

Disgusting party. Right wing nut jobs.

REFORM win Runcorn by-election by 6 votes.

I thought that was a poor result by Reform, 46% turn out, a by-election caused by the MP beating up someone.... with a deeply unpopular Govt.....

I did expect a landslide but just 6 votes and they've failed to win in most Mayoral elections.

What Jenkyns doesn’t seem to understand is that she has no power to cut anything.

True, but I think she and the other Reform drones are saying that stuff to prepare for a potential win at the next GE. That's what they have in mind. I know it's far off and I know it's unlikely but recent history has shown that we can just never assume what's around the corner. Reform are heavily subsidised by the MAGA types (US/Russian oligarchs I suspect) so they are trying to apply the same 'winning' formula here. They will be repeating that stuff ad nauseam for the next 4 years (unless the Agent Orange experiment reaches its end before then).

I think they're going to win a lot more than people may think.

Regrettably they did.

Xenophobic nut jobs.

Still, they'll split the unionist vote up here in Scotland.

East Riding elected mayor - former boxer Luke Campbell - debate pre election.

I think he’s out of his depth here 😳.

They overturned a 15,000 Labour majority. In politics, that’s effectively a landslide.

Reform is simply what the Conservative party was before they decided to turn themselves into Labour Lite.

Now, they have had their arses well and truly Kicked. At least now there is an alternative to the woke shit that both main parties are in hock too.

Reform are what the Conservatives should have been and a thousand welcomes to them.

Are you unaware of the huge majority that Labour lost. They had a massive majority of almost 15,000. They lost 15,000 votes.

Fair enough if figures aren't your thing.

They didn’t, they had 10k fewer votes than last July on a turnout that coincidentally was 10k lower.
