Scary stuff.

I don't know what to say.

OP posts:

It makes me feel even more icky about Starmer brown nosing him to such a degree yesterday.

Trump is an odious man, but he does seem to be right about one thing - everyone else needs him more than he needs them. He holds all the cards. Everyone is tiptoeing round him, making contingencies upon contingencies depending what random mood he happens to be in today. No one ever walks away and says "that doesn't work for us, you've lost our vital trade/support".

The only solution is for Europe to cough up some very serious cash for Ukraine. But we don't have enough troops to make a serious difference, neither do France, and we don't have any air power these days.

Europe should never have sleep-walked into a situation where we literally can't function without the US.

haufbiskiy · 28/02/2025 18:57

The Americans truly are the baddies now. Horrifying for world politics.

EmbarrassedAmerican · 28/02/2025 18:57

I’m an American in London and I’m just disgusted. I’m disgusted all the time by everything going on in the US but this is a completely appalling level of sickening.

LadyMary50 · 28/02/2025 18:49

I assume Zelensky didnt lick Trumps arse enough..It was obviously a set up from the start,a performance for Putin.

The whole thing with these public meetings has been about pressure on the visiting leader in front of the media so the world can see how "powerful" Trump is.

Unfortunately he's not at all worried about how horrible and stupid he comes across, because being horrible and stupid has been no barrier to him being there now.

Uricon2 · 28/02/2025 18:57

Purplelodestone · 28/02/2025 18:52

Are you for real?

The US has sunk $119.7 billion (£94.3.billion) into Ukraine. As Ukraine isn't a NATO Member the US is not obliged to help.

Zelensky needs to modify his attitude or Trump may well pull the plug on him.

Trump is Putin's lackey, he always has been and I'm not sure even if incontrovertible proof of that came out he wouldn't still have support in the US. It is unimaginable and a dystopia beyond fiction.

Howsitnearlyxmas · 28/02/2025 18:11

I hope Starmer speaks up on this. Bullying driven by ego.

Hahaha with the way he was licking Trump's ass yesterday he is not going to say anything 😂 😆

spoodlesee · 28/02/2025 18:58

What about Ukraine now though ?

They are in trouble without American backing regardless of how much of a cunt Trump is.

Yep

LifeExperience · 28/02/2025 18:51

Trump has cancelled the press conference and had Z escorted out of the WH. He just released a statement that Z is not allowed back until he calls for a ceasefire.

Ukraine has every right to defend itself, but it doesn't have a right to American money and materiel. Z forgot that, went in with guns blazing and got FAFO'd. Should have come with a conciliatory gesture like Starmer. That's how you handle Trump.

Ukraine is in deep shit now.

Budapest Memorandum. Ukraine has every right to expect America to come to its defence.

Mrsknowitall · 28/02/2025 18:58

JanieJS · 28/02/2025 18:12

What does he mean?

Biden has sent Ukraine lots of money and weapons to help fight the war, but trump wont be sending anything and without their help and support they wont win it. But starmer will send it and thats how we will also go to war beginning ww3. without the help of the us will will also be fucked that’s why he wants him to sign the deal

Saintinthecity · 28/02/2025 18:59

Flossi24 · 28/02/2025 18:56

Absolutely sickening. Is there a petition yet to call for UK to cancel the invite to Trump for a state visit. Is that possible. There needs to be a gesture to show disapproval. (I know there probably won't be).
What a dangerous and awful man.

I dont call it discipline i call it cowardice, and bribery with his invite from the King..Trump can only play nice when people fawn over him, as soon as someone has the guts to disagree he turns very nasty..

I call it 'politics'. Starmer played Trump and he did it perfectly. He might have had to massage his ego to do so but a small price to pay in my view.

caramac04 · 28/02/2025 18:59

Completely set up to humiliate Zelensky. Appalling behaviour by a bully and sidekicks.
Trump wants to carve up Ukraine between him and Putin.
Utterly disgraceful.

Serious cash

What's Putin got on Trump???

There can be no other explanation for this

I agree. ☹️

Trump fully intends to pull the plug.. he had zero intention of arming Ukraine... he has said this repeatedly...

The arms given to Ukraine were under a different administration, might as well have been another country.

Yes and we should have started massively increasing defence capability as soon as Russia invaded Ukraine
It's no good thinking war is wrong if the other side doesn't agree

Correct.

Russia keeping the land they've taken is deeply unfair, however it's the only viable path to peace.

@madamweb I'm starting towonder if there is some truth in the rumours this week that he was indeed in the KGBs pay for awhile or he took a lot of money off Russians in last few years to try and avoid prison etc or for business reasons- he isn't a good business person despite the air he likes to give off - he comes over a bit frantic!

I was thinking that.
I laughed when I read the kgb rumour.
I'm not laughing now.

TooBigForMyBoots · 28/02/2025 19:01

ThankyouBakedP0tato · 28/02/2025 18:32

Hmmm I'm not so sure who is actually the bully, dictator, narcissist here.

Zelensky has forced even younger men to fight in this war by passing a law last year. If you are male and Ukrainian you have no choice to put your life on the line.

How is that fair? How was that a democratic decision?

As a mother of boys I would be absolutely furious to have this forced upon my sons.

He expects every man to die for his country and for other countries to join in with putting their citizens lives down for him too.

I think he's asking for too much now. He wants everyone to fight this war forever. I wonder of Ukraine would send weapons, money and their men to defend America or the UK?

Edited

Meanwhile the rest of the world are in no doubt.😬

i found it incredibly refreshing to see that corrupt puppet being put in his place. from the comments here anyone would think that Trump wants to prolong the war.

How many times is the man expected to say thankyou ?? They spoke to him and shouted at him like he was a badly behaved child and he kept his cool. He looked utterly confused at some points they are gaslighting twats .

From what I saw there were 2 people there with an attitude problem and neither of them were Ukrainian.

noblegiraffe · 28/02/2025 19:02

"You campaigned for the opposition in Pennsylvania" was the most telling bit of the exchange.

Small and petty-minded.

Fastingandhungry · 28/02/2025 19:03

Zelensky is def not the definition of a good leader and similar words said on here, look at his history and that is the sanitised version, however Trump is an embarrassment and agree he ambushed Zelensky and his intentions are getting worryingly real.

spoodlesee · 28/02/2025 19:03

At least they have showed the world what utter divs they are & who they are aligned with.
