Scary stuff.

I don't know what to say.

I always think what's the point, what can I do. If I felt enough people would do it I'd stop with Amazon straight away.

That's exactly the problem.
We can't do much on our own.
But if we do it all together, at the same time, the outcome will be absolutely huge. If collectively we, Europeans, could stop using Silicone Valley, for a few months only, US would be in a completely different place. And it would do a lot of good to our mental health and economy.

birdcake · 28/02/2025 22:57

Nolieinforme · 28/02/2025 22:56

Trump is a big bully, the rest of the world know this, but no-one seems able to stand up to him. We need to stand together with Europe and unite against him and all his rubbish. If we don't act now, we will regret not standing up to Trump in the future.
Ironically, but very sadly, we are closer to WW3 than any of us realise...

it's never been more important. the man is an unhinged narcissist sociopath.

It would be good to find alternatives. Many of us rely on social media for connection to the world, they can be crucial to our businesses, social lives and so on. Would love to know what the alternatives are. If anyone knows please post!

@Petuniaspetal I think it's very important to get outside my own echo chamber and see what the 'other side' are thinking. I abhor Fox. But I want to understand. Or at least see its followers in a clear eyed way.

Not a waste of time at all.

Totally get that. I was going for the derisory comment to reflect my opposition to the trump shitshow and my contempt for fox in general.

I do watch and listen to opposing viewpoints
but find though that fox has more personality led 'news' rather than actual journalists. Jessica Tarlov was brought in to apparently balance out the hard right narrative but is always outnumbered 4 to 1 and often struggles to be able to finish her point. Think they had to bring JT in following their record breaking fine due to their prolific and proven lies.

The visit must go ahead. JD Vance must be kept away at all costs (using flattery - the King only invited you, DT), and when DT arrives, the King must do a lot of talking about Churchill, the Queen, legacies and how DT could be the next bust in the Oval Office if he stands up to the USA’s main aggressor. He could also possibly slip in something about JDV disrespecting DT and acting like the leader..

Do we think King Charlie has the brain power to pull this shit off? I don't know the guy but he comes across to me as someone who doesn't know what the hell is going on.

Even a Fox News pundit did

I think he’s been in training for the role for many years but would need some kind of script.

He’s our only hope, and we pay enough for him. So why not.

Boycotting goods produced by the slave trade led to abolition; and the world boycott of South Africa helped to bring an end to formal Apartheid.

I don’t know how bright he is, but he learned from his mother, who was the best. Also, whoever wrote that letter to Trump for him knew EXACTLY what to say to flatter the narcissistic manbaby’s ego and make him happy!

AwakeNotThruChoice · 28/02/2025 23:04

I’m glad it was in the public eye. There’s no hiding this.

Exactly.

Consumers actually have a lot of power, we can choose where we spend our money and right now in particular we need to think very carefully about how we exercise that choice

BeardofHagrid · 28/02/2025 23:05

There was a drone strike the other day and two people were injured. When will this terrible war stop?

Dymaxion · 28/02/2025 23:05

This is what Zelensky was implying to Trump that you cannot stop Putin With agreements as he cannot
be trusted to keep them. This rattled Trump I think because he wants easy wins to show the world what a tough guy he is.

And can you also trust the US to keep to agreements ? Budapest memorandum means nothing ?

I don't think any agreement Trump signs should be expected to be kept TBH.

He's a massive liability.

That's why I don't think Zelenskyy should sign. Seems a pointless exercise as Putin will come straight back in again and Trump will have all the (stolen) minerals.

Bizarrely it seemed to be started by a media chap asking Zelensky why he wasn’t wearing a suit which seemed to kick off the whole ‘disrespect’ angle.

Utter madness.

Does anyone find the bbc headline bias? I do and have let them know. I came off twitter after us election, have stopped buying off amazon, I want to do more, what can we do to stop the 1% taking over and slaughtering us all through propaganda, fixed prices and war mongering? Whilst making you look at your fellow man, maybe of a different creed or colour, and making them your problem? I have been off twitter for months and totally disengaged, but 10 mins on bbc tonight and I am inflamed.

even more mad when you consider that they let Elon and his kid roll up in baseball cap and casual gear a week ago and insult trump - "you're not the president". 😂

Chamberlain has been used as an insult.
The implication being that he was foolish for NOT wanting to join the war in Europe.

That can only mean that this poster thinks we SHOULD be going to war with Russia. Offering our military support and start conscription proceedings. Just what Chamberlain tried to avoid.

I think the point is less a policy of appeasement is a bad thing and more that Chamberlain declared ‘peace in our time’ after Hitler had signed a piece of paper and months later he was invading Poland.

Putin has a long history of ignoring this things and getting away with it. A policy of ‘oh!it'll be different this time and we don’t have a plan for if it isn’t,’ is monumentally stupid. And will be seen as such in hindsight.

And we’ve spent years ignoring acts of aggression by Putin in order to avoid a war with Russia. It hasn’t exactly turned out well.

The media chap was apparently the boyfriend of Majorie Taylor Wood - which makes some sense if you follow US politics.

Never mind that Musk wears T-shirts and jeans in the Oval Office.
