My grandfathers family were all pacifists. His father suffered terribly as a conscientious objector in WW1. He still signed up for WW2 on his 18th Birthday - it isn't about what we would "encourage" our sons (or daughters!) to do. Once they are 18 they will do what they choose. The fact is, another country walking over your soil will always elicit a strong reaction and its actually better if that reaction is channeled through a well funded army, than part of decades long, grim partisan warfare. But many people would say both those things are better than just giving up and the consequences down the line of that. If you don't believe me, look at Irish history for one example.

Trump boasted he could stop the war in three days. He now blames Zelensky for the failure. He was bent on belittling and bullying Zelensky. As for saying Zelensky is going to cause World War 3 and he should just obey the US and agree to the agreement he and Putin wants. Well how Zelensky sat there obviously fuming while Vance accused him of showing respect for Trump. What do Americans think of

It’s likely it will be a pivotal moment in history - for all the worst reasons. It’s starting to feel like we all, regardless of politics, need to start getting behind the government and support a move to sort out defence systems and military in very short order.

I'm pretty sure there's more to this than meets the eye and this whole public 'row' is a clever ruse.

It seems that some (vocal minority) posters live under the impression, that when Russia annexes some land, it's just a change of government and people can just live their lives there. That's not true and never was.

Every time when they grab land they cleanse it - get rid of local leaders, elites, anyone who would oppose them. And then they take the local men and send them on the front line to fight for them.

Ukrainians fight because they know what is the alternative.
They know it very well, because the last peace with Russia from 2019 lasted just three years before Putin broke it.

Yep, this is the problem. Most sensible people have been able to see that Trump would make WW3 more likely, however much he likes to spin the opposite narrative against the victims, here - Ukraine.

What has stopped nuclear war from breaking out, in the past is Russia knowing that the US will use nukes in defence of NATO. Now that Putin knows Trump is his lapdog, all bets are off.

Couldn't agree more. We've been complacent for far too long.

Since it became clear just how dreadful Trump is with the executive orders, DOGE and Musk I have been on a consumer boycott of US products and services. Haven’t used Amazon for a month, and am actively involved in campaigning against his administration and Musk. Trump and Musk are gangsters. We have to support the US in their fight against them.

Insane that this was televised. Honestly, I’m not sure what Mr Z, started off saying (I think) that diplomacy won’t work with Putin. And strongly suggesting guy in front of him, Trump, in past, not dealing with the conflict in Crimea which was 2014…..

Mr Z, should have just smiled and nodded. I got impression Trump was up for smiling & nodding until he wasn’t.

He have to extract his face from Trump's asscrack to do that, so I wouldn't hold my breath.
