Scary stuff.

The Orange coward showing his true colours in public.

“ When someone shows you who they are , believe them the first time .
People know themselves much better than you do .
That’s why it’s important to stop expecting them to be something other than who they are “

Maya Angelou

Zelenskyy wasn't the one losing his temper.. he wasn't the one aggressively jabbing Trump in the arm.

NotTerfNorCis · 28/02/2025 20:38

TENSsion · 28/02/2025 20:37

You mean declare war?

No. Trump hasn't declared war on anyone yet, but he's issued a lot of threats. There are intermediate steps. Sanctions, tariffs, freezing assets etc.

1WanderingWomble · 28/02/2025 20:39

Such a sad thing to watch... Trump and his utterly loathsome henchman enjoying their ritual humiliation of Zelensky; they set that up and probably have someone waiting in the wings now they 'can't do business with him'. The US is not a place I recognise anymore.

potatopaws · 28/02/2025 20:39

Utterly disgusting, shameful behaviour.
They deliberately ambushed Zelensky on the world stage.

I would willingly pay quite a lot more taxes if it means we can back up Ukraine and say a big F U to the US.

(ETA: and a big FU to Russia too, obvs! Putin must be rubbing his hands in glee…)

Araminta1003 · 28/02/2025 20:39

Trump is in on a mandate to do peace and not pay out more on behalf of hardworking Americans - Zelensky is on a mandate not to give in. Both of them need to show that things broke down and then Zelensky had no choice but to sign a commercial minerals deal, and he cannot be seen to do a “bad” deal. Neither can the US. Meanwhile they also need to trick Putin and the Russians as a whole into thinking they “won” - Putin needs to look good, because no Putin in this current state of Russia may be even worse. I think the whole thing is staged (at least on the US part, clearly rehearsed, watch Trump coming in and sitting comfortably before that). Why they think this has to be played out in public these days, rather than behind closed doors, is all rather strange.
Zelensky will sign some deal in the next few days, that is my prediction. Both Putin and Trump will be made to be to look like winners and Zelensky will be made to look like he had no choice but to sign the deal. Putin will know full well he cannot go and interfere on the territory covered by the minerals deal. Nato back door, like I said. All these men just want to stay in power and come out looking like they did the right thing.

LuluBlakey1 · 28/02/2025 20:39

TENSsion · 28/02/2025 20:35

So you and @LuluBlakey1 want to go to war with Russia?

Of course I don't, but nor do I want to behave the wayTrump is behaving. Diplomacy and negotiation don't work by humiliating one of the two countries involved. Putin has to see that Ukraine is supported, not humiliated. It's like telling Putin to just keep going.
This is about more than Ukraine, it's about European security.

Flatbellyfella · 28/02/2025 20:39

Do we want Trumps invite to the UK canceled ? I am sure tens of thousands will be protesting if he shows his ugly mug here.

LifeExperience · 28/02/2025 20:40

SecState Rubio just announced that US support to Ukraine's energy grid has now ended. Yes, we Americans were paying for a lot more than military materiel--we were paying Ukrainian gov't salaries and pensions (including Z's) supporting their energy grid, supporting their C3I (command, control, communication and intelligence) paying for their diplomatic and other gov't travel, etc. I think all of that is going to end now.

mitogoshigg · 28/02/2025 20:40

My American friends are so ashamed of their so called leader. Nothing we can personally do except boycott American companies (unless they are led by the good guys, fine with Microsoft

And although you think Putin is unreasonable enough to want to take over all of Europe you think he IS reasonable enough to give a shit about sanctions and tariffs?

Bringmeahigherlove · 28/02/2025 20:41

It was disgraceful. Now how will Europe react?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/02/2025 20:41

Hard agree

Are you f-ing high?
An aggressor moves into your country and forcibly occupies it and the solution is to let them have it?
You do realize that approach was taken when Putin annexed Crimea from Ukraine and he's back for more?

You choose appeasement with a brutal, blood thirsty dictator.

Yes, you're the idiot.

Trump is not interested in peace. Why else would he be suggesting that America breaks international law and takes over the Gaza Strip??

Araminta1003 · 28/02/2025 20:08

Ok but is the minerals deal not a back door NATO deal and why can Zelensky not see that? So Ukraine signs a deal with US and then if Putin interferes with it, then US has a legitimate issue with Russia?

If I'm reading this right, and this is the back room game, then Trump has played a genius move in signing the minerals deal first, then looking like having a major fallout with Zelensky live on international TV.
It would explain Z being able to stay so calm.

Does anyone think writing to MPs to ask for invitation for Trump to visit UK be kicked into the long gras be worth it? Feel pretty helpless but would like to show support for Ukraine/Zelenskyy

no, only you

viques · 28/02/2025 20:43

Putin must be overjoyed that the WhiteHouse residents are such morons. It makes his job even easier. I do hope he remembers to say “Thankyou, I am so very grateful” to the idiots, and play nicely when it comes to dividing up Ukrainian mineral wealth fairly with his new bbf.

Time for Ukraine to be admitted to NATO and get the full protection it deserves.

valder · 28/02/2025 20:45

I got the feeling that it was rehearsed and choreographed for media/maga consumption. So awful I thought it had to be faux outrage or something.

Of the threesome I know which one came out best. Begins with Z.

Biscuitsnotcookies · 28/02/2025 20:45

It’s easier to throw Zelenskyy under the bus than it is to take on Putin, let’s face it, none of us want to see this war continue or escalate.

I agree with Trump on one thing. We can’t have American troops in Ukraine that really is a one way ticket to WW3 and it’s not unreasonable to say so.

I have never felt so angry when I saw how Zelenskyy was treated. Boiling with rage. I think I can see why Trump did it:

They can cut off military support
They can cut off aid
They can force the deal on the minerals more easily
They now force Europe into taking responsibility
They save hundreds of billions
US can return to neutrality, which will be beneficial politically and economically

That'd be quite a manipulation. 🤔

StoneofDestiny · 28/02/2025 20:45

Some Russian apologists on here! There are many Ukrainians in my area - they all support Zelensky. They know if they lose the war they lose their country and their democracy. The bullying of Zelensky today by that slug of a US President (who was bought out of being drafted by his father and called US soldiers captured in Vietnam ‘losers’) was disgustingly. A pure set up - even mocking Zelensky for being in his ‘war’ uniform. Despicable.
