With Starmer now, apparently being the most unpopular PM we've ever had - and all the things he's done since they got into power, are you still pleased you voted for them?

I didn't vote for him, but he is no worse than any of the previous Conservative PMs. History will decide if he is better. And time. It is hard to imagine how he could be worse.

Paul2023 · 07/01/2025 22:04

I never voted him in and never would have.

But Trump is on a mission to make America powerful and won’t care about anyone’s else’s interests. He’s going after Greenland now.

Trump is going to walk all over Starmer and there’s nothing Labour can do about it.

I think Labour are headed for trouble , not least with Musk against them.

TheSillyGoose · 07/01/2025 22:04

I did vote for him - and now feel absolutely mugged off.

I'd never been a labour voter but felt that they couldn't be worse than the tories - oh how wrong we were.

Moier · 07/01/2025 22:06

I didn't vote labour. Never have never will.
False promises to get votes.
I knew this would happen.

ssd · 07/01/2025 22:12

How are they worse than the tories, what a stupid thing to say.

FaithFables · 07/01/2025 22:13

Still better than the last 4 PMs.

FloralGums · 07/01/2025 22:14

Yes. I’m very pleased. He’s doing a good job looking out for the less fortunate. He’s starting to sort out the terrible mess the Tories left the public services and economy/public debt in.

Crikeyalmighty · 07/01/2025 22:18

I don't have any issue - he inherited a shit show and terrible finances to actually action anything - - any PM at all at themoment would be unpopular simply because the UKs chickens in poor long term planning in the last 14 years in particular have come home to roost. Everything from selling off public housing started in Thatcher's era, to privatising utilities to kicking social care down the road to Brexit in a global economy all has created a perfect storm

Justcallmebebes · 07/01/2025 22:18

I wasn't stupid enough to vote Labour in the first place

hattie43 · 07/01/2025 22:19

I didn't vote for him / them and never would . The reasons why are clear to see .

username299 · 07/01/2025 22:22

Is he more unpopular than Truss? I'd imagine if he was, he would have had a vote of no confidence.

We have Labour in power and a rabid right wing press. Wonder why they're full of negative stories about a left wing party 🤔

Yep. Got it in one .

Agree. Anyone having to sort out the mess he inherited and the difficult decisions he is having to make would be unpopular. I live in NI and therefore can't vote 4 Labour but I would in a heartbeat. Just don't agree what Labour are doing to farmers.

Gorgeousfeet · 07/01/2025 22:25

Spot on . Most sensible post I’ve seen on here in a long time.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 07/01/2025 22:26

@FloralGums
April fool early this year 😂😂😂😂

CurlewKate · 07/01/2025 22:39

Yes. Still glad I voted for him. I think he has made some mistakes, but I vote for the party and the policies, not the individual. And I think that he's done pretty well in seriously crap circumstances.

Squareroot · 07/01/2025 22:40

Good god, how can anyone with any memory prefer a Tory govt again? Just cast your mind back to the shit show the country was in after 14 years - the state of our public services, rolling strikes, lies & deceit in govt by our politicians & ooh, don’t forget how many billions the economy has lost because of Brexit. So don’t tell me Labour are failing after 6 sodding months. Just think about the monumental scale of work that has to be done!

When the mantra about the Budget kicks off, with Tesco & the like talking about how jobs will be lost & investment lost, remember Tesco only last year announced its biggest profits EVER & not long ago we were talking about supermarkets profiteering. They could just return a smaller profit, no?

And don’t get me started on the Tories calls for a national inquiry into child sex abuse but their refusal to rebuke Musk & stand up for Jess Phillips. All politicians of all stripes should be united here. Musk is a dangerous renegade & should be condemned. The Tories could’ve acted after the Jay report but they didn’t. Completely unacceptable.

Nessastats · 07/01/2025 22:52

I think he's doing a great job.

Crikeyalmighty · 07/01/2025 23:02

@Squareroot got it in one- and of course the Toryswere doing such an utterly splendid job- they only called an early election because they knew full well they had promised stuff they couldn't deliver

Katypp · 07/01/2025 23:15

It seems that the only criteria a lot of posters value about Labour is they are not Tories.
Get rid of WFP - they are not as bad as the Tories
Go back on paying WASPI women -they are not as bad as the Tories
Economy tanking - they are not as bad as the Tories.
It would be interesting to see someone actually come up with something positive about what Labour are rather than what they are not.

FeelinTwentySixPointTwo · 07/01/2025 23:19

I voted Labour and I'm really glad I did.

midgetastic · 07/01/2025 23:21
  • the tories had 14 years so when labour have had 14 then we can judge

I mean I agree that we would expect labour to do better than the tories but even I wouldn't expect them to do in months what the tories couldn't do in years

OneAmberFinch · 07/01/2025 23:24

Hmm. I didn't vote for him, I think his performance has been much worse than I thought, but on the whole if I could go back and change the election result I'm not sure that I would...

Unfortunately we are in an era where not a single party has anything positive to offer, so it really is a case of working out which is the least awful option.

Popettypop · 07/01/2025 23:29

I voted for him and I would again.

The Tories left us in a terrible state and that is not going to mended quickly.
Give the bloke a chance.
