But now they've given full rights to workers from day 1 we will be even more attractive!

And those workers will be paying taxes and taking the jobs that our organisations are struggling so badly to fill.

Oh good grief, the middle class woman who became working class because she had a part time job in Maccies!

Yep
Bout the same as the middle class man who became working class because ‘his father was a tool maker’

For one day anyway.

Posters said she wouldn't win the leadership race too, I think people underestimate her

As for the good news, they've lost their lead already so early on, it may well be an open goal

When you say they've lost their lead, you mean in polls, whilst they maintain a huge majority and are still years off of an election. So pie in the sky nothing really.

How are the bond markets reacting to Reeves’s budget?

It's a fast plummet, it must be one of the fastest for a new gov.

This idea they can't be leading to an open goal is already pretty shaky. I doubt it's a nothing either, surely you'd prefer them to keep the electorate onside?

Bonds were smashed.
Too much debt.
It’s an aggressive budget that went down badly.
It was compared to Kwaryeng’s in the market. Which was striking. It went down very badly.in the markets basically.

The average migrant employee takes less sick leave than native employees. They are also less likely to use the NHS.
They tend to be younger and fitter than the average for the country.

They always said the choices they would have to make would be difficult.
People aren't going to like that until they see some benefits.
If the benefits don't come/aren't apparent then I agree with you - things will look shaky.

FGS.

The negative impact is being felt by many NOW.

You do realise they also need houses, healthcare, pensions, schooo places and all the other services require to live here. Many of these areas are at crisis point.

She was my local mp, our chat for our village has so much crap about things she done before honestly, she was absolutely useless, I received an email back telling me she didn't want to get involved in what I'd messaged her about (something quite simple other mps would know)

In which parallel universe does an extreme right party in a white majority country elect a black woman of African heritage to run it?

You must have very little understanding of politics if you think the Tory part is or ever has been on the extreme end of right wing.

A faction within the Tory party has long wanted to pursue ideology and policies which are widely held to be to towards a hard right. This has been discussed for years now and on mainstream media too, it would be hard not to know about this! Truss, Braverman, Badenoch.

Electing a black woman as leader does not preclude any party from moving to an extreme right. The extreme right in France for example has long pointed to black people in their party as if to say ‘ see, we can’t be a racist party’. It is the oldest trick in the book.

It Is a bottomless pit unless you get a handle on immigration. Mathematically unsustainable.

Kemi winning is not a 'trick' to do with her ethnicity. She will be the best at holding Starmer to account

You really must wonder why the UK government has actively sought to attract economic migrants throughout the whole of its history. They pay tax, they pay rent and provide services and essential skills. They build houses, teach in our schools, work in our hospitals.

You sound extremely racist.

Papyrophile · 02/11/2024 20:28

Again, I am pleased she beat Jenrick, mainly because I think she's much smarter. For the rest, Labour's majority is unassailable so they have a mandate for their manifesto. I am planning to escape... to Mars.

You can not say everyone that voted for Kemi did so as a racist needing a fig leaf, you are massively discrediting her intelligence and ability. It is disgusting given she clearly outshines any politician I can think of.

You have no right at all to discredit Kemi in this way, and I think you should apologise.

Understairscupboard · 02/11/2024 20:36

Savingthehedgehogs · 02/11/2024 20:30

The vast majority of economic immigrants to the UK are under 30. Vanishingly few are over 40 - so the bulk of them will have contributed to our society for 30 plus years before they start to need those things.

The truth is, we need workers. We have nearly a million unfilled job vacancies in this country. The cost to the economy is huge.

Are you really sure you understand the difference between economic migrants and asylum seekers?

I think she'll make mincemeat of Starmer/Rayner at PMQs - I can't wait for this gift!!

Rayner in particular will be so far out of her depth that she'll lose her rag and say something very ill-advised and crass. She won't be able to help it. You mark my words. I can't wait. 😂

A variation on ‘scum’ perhaps.
