She's good. Much better than "Free Gear Keir" at any rate...

Today I’ve heard Free Gear Kier and Rachel Thieves trotted out.

Why???

Do you genuinely feel clever for these ridiculous names? Is it a front because you don’t know how to debate otherwise?

It honestly makes you look a bit mindless. Its straight out of the a Donald Trump playbook.

And stop starting and continuing wars.

I would go further, stop meddling in other countries.

No it helps build a healthier more resilient economy which will benefit everyone.

No it doesn't.

Setyoufree · 02/11/2024 16:13

She knows what a woman is, which is a lot more than I can say for most of the HoC. I'm a single issue voter, would vote for her all day long.

Sneakybusiness · 02/11/2024 16:13

She’s terrifying. And not in a good way. She will alienate centrist tories because her extremely intolerant views. It’s so depressing.

PadstowGirl · 02/11/2024 16:14

Sat beside her and her husband at a country pub quiz a few years ago. She seemed very nice and very clever, and genuinely interested in other people.

This is a a disgraceful and inherently racist comment. It implies people like Sunak, Badenoch and Braverman are being used by their own party and do not have a mind of their own. It also implies you think people of certain skin colours should all have the same political opinions and that black and brown tories are the wrong sort of black and brown people. Shame on you.

It’s actually the truth. No-one here thinks that people of colour should all have the same views. But it’s a fact that politicians of colour can be useful in promoting policies that would otherwise be unpalatable. Look at Badenoch’s voting record if you want an indication of where the Tories will be going under her leadership.

JaneEyreLaughing · 02/11/2024 16:15

Nope, @Tiredalwaystired it's just shorthand for remembering the cuntish things they get up to.

Mind you, now that we know our Rach grabs over 70k a year from her rental properties maybe we could also call her Rachman Rach.

Still, it's probably different when a far left person has rental properties...I'm sure some of the Animal Farm lot will be along to tell us all about how it is practically a public service she is offering.

What's the single issue?

'Knowing what a woman is' is not the same as supporting them. The Tory party and KB are NO friend of women.

Have been listening to Radio 4 since about 6.30am and there has been no interview with Kemi Badenoch outlining her policies. Just had a quick search and it would appear the last time she was on R4 was 2nd October. Would be grateful if you could point me in the direction of this impressive policy revealing interview which I have clearly missed.

I just Googled it. She hasn’t been on R4 for over a week according to BBC Sounds.

No it doesn't.

You don’t think lower energy bills, better energy security and more green jobs is good for the country?
What’s your alternative?

Astrabees · 02/11/2024 16:16

I’m quite posh and a retired professional, comfortably off. I am a great supporter of Angela Rayner and feel she speaks a great deal of sense. Snobbish attitudes about her origins and accent are highly inappropriate. She encourages me to feel we live in a true democracy where hard work and perseverance pay off. In contrast Kemi comes across as being from an elite background and out of touch with everyday life.

PandoraSox · 02/11/2024 16:17

Just read this interesting snippet. Badenoch has a massive task ahead of her.

"Leadership contests are about the only time when the Conservative party discloses membership figures. Robert Colvile, director of the Centre for Policy Studies, a Tory thinktank, says Kemi Badenoch should be worried about the figures out today.

To understand why @KemiBadenoch needs to prioritise rebuilding the Tory membership/movement, just look at the number of votes cast:

2001 - 256,857 (IDS v Ken)
2005 - 198,840 (Dave v DD)
2019 - 138,809 (Boris v Hunt)
2022 - 141,725 (Liz v Rishi)
2024 - 95,849 (Kemi v Jenrick)

Yes, there’s lower turnout this time - disgruntled centrists, or people caring less about not electing a PM. But pool of voters has shrunk from 172,414 to 131,660 in just two years - 40k down"

Not at all. Implying that brown or black people can't be racist is clearly ridiculous. Using a brown or black person to spout racist or bigoted views is just what they are doing. Shouting 'you racist' if you have the temerity to disagree with their views is extremely hypocritical and gaslighting. Kemi and others with similar views are apparently 'anti woke', yet this behaviour is 100% woke and is what they are doing.

How can you say that! She worked in MacDonalds and so is working class.

What? Raynor and I have mirrored lives. Same up bringing. But she is embarrassing when she speaks. I cringe as this women is supposed to represent me

She holds herself up as a role model for women/young girls. I look at her and I definitely don't want her as a role model for my daughter!!

Categorically dispute this interpretation - for a person of colour to actively make racist comments which both of these women have done is utterly abhorrent to me and totally minimises racism and that is what I have an issue with.

In other words she can destroy the economy and give women fewer rights than the victorians and you will still vote for her because she is anti trans and that is all you care about. I think that is true of many of the posters who think she is great unfortunately.

Quite. The Tories need a leader who will work from the centre out, appeal to the wider public and be at least a little cohesive. KB is precisely the wrong person for this.

EasternStandard · 02/11/2024 16:21

Lakiem · 02/11/2024 15:46

I wasn't talking about the thread 😂, I was talking about the polling among Tory voters in the rest of the country. KB has been a fairly consistently unpopular choice throughout.

The Labour Party isn't looking too flash atm either and neither is Starmer with his personal ratings so I guess we'll see how it goes

1457bloom · 02/11/2024 16:21

She is a Friend of Israel, so don't expect any support from her for Palestine.
