Good. We are too broke to spend a fortune on climate issues and it's making us even less competitive in the global market. And I have sympathy for immigration but too many asylum seekers are coming here.

If we don’t start investing in climate related issues there won’t be a global market for much longer.

TheNuthatch · 02/11/2024 15:51

She wasn't my first choice but I'm very happy. Well done Kemi 👏
Also very happy with the poll of voting intentions after this god awful budget.
Onwards and upwards.

Thischangeseverything · 02/11/2024 15:51

I think her views are awful. Historically I voted Tory but never will again until they move back towards the centre.

I don't care about the colour of the leader. I do care about their views.

The uks contribution to net zero will make precisely no difference. It's just to make people feel better.

I wonder how many of the people who voted for her know her full name is Olukemi Olufunto Adegoke Badenoch, it seems a bit too progressive for them compared to Robert Jenrick.

Nasty. But then the left are at heart.

I feel the same. I am a centrist through and through and feel politically homeless now.

Which policies do you think that about?
we have an opportunity to build a strong green economy and become a globsl
leader in green tech.
what climate issues are we ‘spending a fortune’ on?
Most measures to reduce carbon emissions also save money eg energy efficiency, renewables

AnnKarenina · 02/11/2024 15:57

Is here to promote Israel needs rather than Britain's priorities.. and will never be PM in any case

No it helps build a healthier more resilient economy which will benefit everyone.

Zone2NorthLondon · 02/11/2024 15:59

on the right of the party, has unpalatable views regard mental health & workers rights. Disapproves of current maternity leave provision
ghastly woman leading moribund out of touch party

NetZeroZealot · 02/11/2024 16:01

Llhaaf · 02/11/2024 15:48

In an ideal world I’d like the whole Net Zero thing to be thrown out. We are spending billions on making no difference. We’ll all be poorer for no reason. It’s a crazy policy and I hope the opposition will push for a more sensible approach (ie push it back…far back).

Why do you think it’s making us poorer?
Relying on imported fossil fuels is making us poorer for sure.

Sunholidays · 02/11/2024 16:03

She's good. Much better than "Free Gear Keir" at any rate...

brislereg · 02/11/2024 16:03

LyndaLaHughes · 02/11/2024 15:44

The Tories love nothing more than a person of colour they can roll out to parrot all the abhorrent views they have on people of colour and disabled people under cover of "well it's ok if a brown person says it". Same with Suella Braverman. There are both vile. Kemi's comments on disabled people, different cultures and mental health were despicable. But I'm delighted that she who became working class when working in McDonald's (typical Tory so out of touch as to say something so pig ignorant) has triumphed as hopefully it makes them even more unelectable than ever.

This is a a disgraceful and inherently racist comment. It implies people like Sunak, Badenoch and Braverman are being used by their own party and do not have a mind of their own. It also implies you think people of certain skin colours should all have the same political opinions and that black and brown tories are the wrong sort of black and brown people. Shame on you.

Be interesting to see if she manages to hang on til the next GE.

She is an intelligent woman with steely determination, who has achieved something amazing. For that I am proud of her.

While her politics is not my cup of tea, I look forward to her taking the PM to task. I hope she doesn't disappoint.

I am looking forward to seeing her run rings round Starmer

You should start listening to radio 4 and her interviews. I was very inspired by her clarity and eloquence.

Have been listening to Radio 4 since about 6.30am and there has been no interview with Kemi Badenoch outlining her policies. Just had a quick search and it would appear the last time she was on R4 was 2nd October. Would be grateful if you could point me in the direction of this impressive policy revealing interview which I have clearly missed.

Well, at least now they remain utterly inelectable for the foreseeable future...

She’ll be gone within a year anyway

Tell that to the family of the kid who recently died and had “air pollution” as the official cause of death on his death certificate.

She's not bleeding Rumpelstiltskin you know! Her name isn't secret knowledge-it's the first thing on her Wikipedia page!

Nonetheless, @goawaynottoday what a nasty little post dripping with barely concealed racism.

How unpleasant the far left are.

Not really. Historically, Labour leaders who've just won massive majorities go at a time of their choosing, whereas Tory leaders who get elected after the party has just badly lost a GE... not so much.
