I think this is the Tory equivalent of Jeremy Corbyn winning the labour leadership

Due to their own stupidity and trying to play the system, the most electable person for the job, James Cleverly, didn't get to the last 2. The Tories did this to themselves.

Locutus2000 · 02/11/2024 14:07

Ah, the angry black woman tropes have started.

Cobblers. Her bullying tendencies are well known and nothing to do with her race or stereotypes.

It’s truly despicable

I find it hilarious that labour supporters are showing faux concern for us right wingers when were actually quite happy about this!

Don’t you see the irony in comparing a strong intelligent woman of colour with an old washed up white man of privilege claiming HE is progressive and the change our country needs!
Its bonkers

Labour are so envious and are praying she won’t be be leading for the GE. She absolutely will. 💪🏽

Rummly · 02/11/2024 14:12

Jeez, the Goddess Gaia could become the leader of the Tory Party and the Labour fans would be straight on here calling her a vile fascist.

EasternStandard · 02/11/2024 14:14

SundayBloodySunday · 02/11/2024 14:06

@EasternStandard
Wrt your question, "have I voted Tory "

I'm a natural Tory voter. I went to private school, as do my kids. I earn loads and I have a business. I Iive in a big inherited house.

But I can't vote for a bunch of liars and theives. Most if not all of their so called leaders are pariahs. They are self interested and all this rubbish about their own personal patriotism, spare me. If they gave a jot about this country, they wouldn't sew the seeds of hated in order to line their own pockets. We are doomed with opposition of this calibre.

So you’re a Labour voter now?

PointsSouth · 02/11/2024 14:15

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 02/11/2024 12:38

@PointsSouth ,I tend to listen to both sides of an argument from various sources and then come to a conclusion which usually but not always means that I err in one direction whilst having some sympathy for the opposing view. What about you?

But you say all the evidence. How and when do you know you have all of it?

JaneEyreLaughing · 02/11/2024 14:16

Oh they always do something like this!

Labour good-Tory bad. Just like Animal Farm-Four Feet Good. Two legs Bad. No wonder, my local bookshop had a display of that novel in a prominent position yesterday.

I see our Chancellor of the Exchequer makes over £70, 000 a year from her rental properties.

Now, Labour supporters hate landlords and yet, no doubt there will be a reason why Our Rach should be exempt from that hatred. Totally brainwashed dimwits.

I am not concerned. I do believe and want effective opposition, whoever is in power.

I just think voting for a leader who is heavily right wing or heavily left wing will keep their out of party out of power for longer.

Savingthehedgehogs · 02/11/2024 14:16

It is very telling a forum mainly made up of women, can’t even find it within themselves to celebrate this woman’s incredible achievement.

Did you hear her speech? It was incredible - polished, eloquent, powerful and more than able to deliver the change needed. The atmosphere was utterly ELECTRIC in the room. A rare moment in politics these days.

I believe Kemi will go on to win, she will light up politics, lead with determination and strength and if anyone can turn this country around, it is her. I wish we could run an election tomorrow 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

FfsBrian · 02/11/2024 12:41

Same here. Starmer is a raging communist - he went to a bloody training camp when he was in his 20s

Watched a docu last night about stalins Communism last night and i was filled with dread

Do you still hold the same political views you did in your twenties?

Keir Starmer has had forty-odd years to develop his current beliefs, what he did all those years ago is of little relevance as evidenced by everything he has said and done recently.

Liz Truss was a Liberal Democrat. People change.

OP posts:
BIossomtoes · 02/11/2024 14:18

she is strong, intelligent and has the backing of the whole party.

Half of the parliamentary party voted for her opponent. 🤷‍♀️

So you think that cultures that believe in child marriage or that women should have less rights than men are equally valid?

I agree with kemi here and I suspect the interviewer does too. Well handled I thought.

Have you actually listened to the interview where she is asked about maternity pay? Hard to see how you can decide her comments were taken out of context. What do you think she meant?

This. Some posters are reaching so far, (that they must be out of the solar system by now,) to try and excuse Badenoch's shitty anti-women comments.

As I said, the reaction on here - to HER WORDS - would have been quite different if it had been Jenrick who had said the same words!!!

!

why would I support a woman who has made ignorant comments about autistic people because she is the same sex as me?

otnot · 02/11/2024 14:19

I think there's a lot to like about her but I think she could've done with some more experience and 'polish' before going for the top job. I would've wanted Tugendhat or Cleverley this time and her made ready for the next go, I unfortunately think she may well shoot herself in the foot before making it to GE. I do like that she will hold the opposition to account, but I'd prefer if she could tone down the aggression sometimes.

And though her race and sex is irrelevant to her competence, it will be delicious to watch a literal white knight earnestly inform Kemi's Tories that they're the racist, sexist party 😁 Fingers crossed this will herald the end of the divisive race politics - it has to really or Labour's going to have to start coming up with some very good explanations why they've still only ever had white, male leaders...

ScarabBright · 02/11/2024 14:19

Babadookinthewardrobe · 02/11/2024 11:20

I think they have just made themselves considerably more electable by selecting Kemi.

I do too, and I'm a very long way away from being a Tory.

WTF does that even MEAN?

I am not going to celebrate someone 'doing well' purely because they happen to also have a vagina. WTAF? 😂

But for the Conservatives to get into power, it will need to be a PUBLIC vote.

It's Badenoch's own party who have voted her in, less than 100,000 members. NOT the public. They will never win a General Election with her as leader.

Dreadful move. She only got just over half the votes too. 56%.

Ooh I don’t know. I held my nose and voted Labour at the last election as the least worst option. As did thousands of others I should think. However I like Kemi Badenoch, I think she’ll do an excellent job of holding labour to account and she might well be able to persuade me to vote for the conservatives next time. We’ll see.

I think you fundamentally misunderstand something. I want good schools, safe streets, good healthcare and growth. I don’t think that is significantly different from white brits. One of the most damaging things to happen to black and asian brits is the idea that we are a special interest group, it’s allowed shouty, useless, bastards more say then they should have in “representing” us.

I do not feel represented by Dawn Butler for example, I think she’s a bloody idiot. I have no time for religion or sectarian interests, I’m not interested in people pandering to my ethnicity or religion, I’m an atheist.

I care about good governance way more than I care about the colour of that representative. Neither Starmer of Badenoch are from my ethnicity or my religious background. I simply don’t care. Do I feel quietly satisfied when I see people from my own demographic make progress, yes, ofcourse. I don’t necessarily agree with their politics and they may not represent my views and I would vote against them in an election.

The left care way too fucking much about race. I care what people think. I think it’s patronising to think I need to see people like me rather than people who think like me. It’s shallow.
