Tell me you've not watched any of her speeches, debates or enquiries with out telling me you've never seen any of her speeches, debates or enquiries.

Its one thing hating her policies but don't pretend she is weak and unintelligent because she certainly isn't. That shows more about you than anything else

If you think that's a high standard of debate and intelligence then well..............

"We need a strong and articulate opposition"

So why did they pick Kemi?

She is articulate. Much more so than many

Labour are also screwed at the next election. They’ve proven themselves to be economically illiterate, cruel and a bunch of self serving hypocrites.

So if the conservatives have no chance and Labour are screwed, that leaves…

I think we’ll end up with a Tory Reform coalition if Labour don’t pull their socks up…

If she's so erudite why is there so much confusion over what she says? She has to keep clarifying herself.

But for the Conservatives to get into power, it will need to be a PUBLIC vote.

It's Badenoch's own party who have voted her in, less than 100,000 members. NOT the public. They will never win a General Election with her as leader.

Dreadful move. She only got just over half the votes too. 56%.

Starmer got 48.9% LOL.

But is it not important to you and to your children, grandchildren to have representation? To lead, to be decision makers to potentially lead the entire country?

You may not agree with the politics

I think you fundamentally misunderstand something. I want good schools, safe streets, good healthcare and growth. I don’t think that is significantly different from white brits. One of the most damaging things to happen to black and asian brits is the idea that we are a special interest group, it’s allowed shouty, useless, bastards more say then they should have in “representing” us.

I do not feel represented by Dawn Butler for example, I think she’s a bloody idiot. I have no time for religion or sectarian interests, I’m not interested in people pandering to my ethnicity or religion, I’m an atheist.

I care about good governance way more than I care about the colour of that representative. Neither Starmer of Badenoch are from my ethnicity or my religious background. I simply don’t care. Do I feel quietly satisfied when I see people from my own demographic make progress, yes, ofcourse. I don’t necessarily agree with their politics and they may not represent my views and I would vote against them in an election.

The left care way too fucking much about race. I care what people think. I think it’s patronising to think I need to see people like me rather than people who think like me. It’s shallow.

She doesn't need much of a swing back of ex Tory voters who voted reform or Libdems in the last GE and she'll win. Remember, Starmer didn't "win" as such, because he actually got slightly fewer voters than Corbyn did in 2019 when he comprehensively lost. If Kemi gets enough of those defecting voters back voting Tory next time, she'll win. It's not actually that much of a hard job, especially after Labour's disastrous first few months and them already falling in the popularity polls.

CurlewKate · 02/11/2024 13:56

@RosesAndHellebores "A rather higher percentage than it took Keir to win the election"

There's a difference between the way the Tory Party elect its leader and the way the country elects its government.

Mainoo72 · 02/11/2024 13:56

Excellent. A great choice.

Echobelly · 02/11/2024 13:56

EasternStandard · 02/11/2024 13:41

She won't make it to the election.

Posters were adamant she wouldn't get elected to leader too.

I would have said the same about not making it up election if whoever they chose. Won't be hugely surprised if the Tories end up going into election with Farage at the head. Ugh.

@fluffy71
Extremists support ideologies based on violence, that seek to negate fundamental rights and the operation of the United Kingdom as a liberal democracy.

Kemi uses dog whistle politics that vilifies minorities and others sections of society. She's actually said some groups are less than others and then come up with all sorts of broad generalisations about Muslims. We really don't need this race baiting in the UK. I'm utterly fed up with it. It's lies and peddling hatred. These threads normalise this really awful , detrimental behaviour. Our problems will not be solved by expelling sections of society.

I'm from a Muslim country and I agree with her that some Muslims in the UK have been behaving disgracefully and unlawfully. It is right and not right wing to point it out. Justice should be blind and just. White people have been to scared to say it as it is because you're more scared to be called a racist than seeing a ghost. I said some before you all piled on me.

Pumpkinforever · 02/11/2024 13:58

Interesting that the Tories give women and people of different ethnicities a chance of taking senior positions in the party?

I haven’t googled it and so maybe wrong but when did the Labour Party have a female leader or a non-white leader?

peanutbuttertoasty · 02/11/2024 13:59

Llhaaf · 02/11/2024 13:14

Exactly. I believe it’s been confirmed that we are all just getting poorer. (Some graph on Sky or BBC can’t remember).

And all this money they are ‘investing’ into services aren’t going to make a blind bit of difference to us, as there are thousands of people coming to the country adding to the lists and needing care/ schooling etc

So in four years, we’ll be poorer. Services will be just as bad and they’ll be talking about needing to raise taxes again.

You won’t need to wait 4 years for that!

Savingthehedgehogs · 02/11/2024 13:59

Those saying Kemi Badenoch won’t make to the GE are hoping she won’t!
But of course she will, because this has been the plan all along and she will storm into No 10 when the time comes.

Locutus2000 · 02/11/2024 14:00

GoodGollyMsMolly · 02/11/2024 11:34

What is your definition of far right I'm curious?

They said Right, not far right. Massive difference.

How about popping over to you tube and having a look.

Yes I agree. She was held back last time as they knew the Tories were in their death throws.

Not a Tory, never a Tory, but I think this is great! Woman of colour leading a major world political party.

And we think Labour is “progressive “ ?

I'm hoping that when I go to my place of work ( as a woman) I won't be constantly shitting myself that the building isn't about to collapse around me and all the kids. I may,in the not to distant future, be able to book a GP appointment ( although this may not be imminent due to the last government's scorched earth policy.) I'm also looking forward to having improved rights as an employee. I'm not on minimum wage but I'm pleased that those who are will receive more for the hard work they do making money for business owners.

Like those minimum wage train drivers who just got a raise on top of subsidised travel? At least they can afford to travel on trains.
Let's see who sinks and who floats under a labour government. The last two were worlds apart but no better than any other.

SundayBloodySunday · 02/11/2024 14:06

@EasternStandard
Wrt your question, "have I voted Tory "

I'm a natural Tory voter. I went to private school, as do my kids. I earn loads and I have a business. I Iive in a big inherited house.

But I can't vote for a bunch of liars and theives. Most if not all of their so called leaders are pariahs. They are self interested and all this rubbish about their own personal patriotism, spare me. If they gave a jot about this country, they wouldn't sew the seeds of hated in order to line their own pockets. We are doomed with opposition of this calibre.

My apologies to Harriet Harman. She was leader of the opposition from May to September 2015 5 months - squeezed between Milliband and Corbyn

Did you miss her recent comments on maternity rights?

Ah but none of that matters as long as she's against trans rights... 🙄😬

She'd also be a horror to alot of women in this country, (especially WoC) as women are the poorest demographic so austerity measures hit us hardest.
