She won't make it to the election.

Much as I think she's an awful person and I have no time for her, she's a woman of colour in charge of an ailing organisation, so she'll be shoved off the glass cliff by people complaining all the party's problems are because of her gender and race. So I don't feel sorry for her, but it still sucks that this is generally the case for women in leadership so often.

She won't make it to the election.

Posters were adamant she wouldn't get elected to leader too.

SundayBloodySunday · 02/11/2024 13:41

@fluffy71
Extremists support ideologies based on violence, that seek to negate fundamental rights and the operation of the United Kingdom as a liberal democracy.

Kemi uses dog whistle politics that vilifies minorities and others sections of society. She's actually said some groups are less than others and then come up with all sorts of broad generalisations about Muslims. We really don't need this race baiting in the UK. I'm utterly fed up with it. It's lies and peddling hatred. These threads normalise this really awful , detrimental behaviour. Our problems will not be solved by expelling sections of society.

User37482 · 02/11/2024 13:41

Maybe thats what we need, I want my leaders to be direct and effective. They don’t have to be nice to do the right thing,

quantumbutterfly · 02/11/2024 13:34

😂underneath a picture of Che Guevara.....or Ben Elton.

Neither one. Ben Elton is a dickhead. Guevara was a homophobe.

HTH.

Well I like her. She's a strong, eloquent woman who has a record of standing up for women.

Really? What about her comments about maternity leave? In everything I've seen of her she seems dangerously xenophobic, sexist, horribly right wing. I can only hope she never gets into power.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 02/11/2024 13:43

Drclll · 02/11/2024 13:36

🤣 Tell yourself whatever you want to justify your supporting her horrible views. That they're taken out of context, sure

Edited

It's funny how people convince themselves of things that are absolute poop!

I bet if Jenrick had said EXACTLY the same as Badenoch about women and them having too many maternity rights, the people defending Badenoch would have been frothing and ranting about how it's a disgrace that this anti-woman person is now Tory leader. So why is it OK that Badenoch has said it? I think I can guess why, but I won't say. Wink

Jaxhog · 02/11/2024 13:43

I think PMQ is about to get interesting!

1dayatatime · 02/11/2024 13:43

@SundayBloodySunday

So you think that cultures that believe in child marriage or that women should have less rights than men are equally valid?

This. ^

Don't worry. The Conservatives will NEVER get into power with Badenoch as leader. Not in a million month of Sundays.

You should read what she REALLY said.

Sampler · 02/11/2024 13:44

I’m old enough to remember Margaret Thatcher coming to power. All the hurrahs there too, a woman ! She carries a handbag, she’s so strong !
Didn’t pan out well. I lived through it and still shudder at her cruelty.
Being a woman doesn’t mean anything if you are a Tory politician.

Posters said that about the conversative party memembership voting for her too. I'm a bit dubious about such adamant posts now

You mean Americans? Some would say their culture has some positives but I see what you mean.

RosesAndHellebores · 02/11/2024 13:46

I have voted Conservative since 1979. Her politics do not accord with mine.

I pray for a 2025 version of the SDP bringing the reasonable from all.parties together. That may bring hope and I shall join.

The 121 Conservative MPs lost my respect when they gerrymandered the last MPs vote. It does not bode well and something realistic is urgently required for when June/July 2029 comes round.

Drclll · 02/11/2024 13:26

When did she stand up for women? When she dissed them for taking maternity leave? 🙄🙄🙄

Well, she knows what a woman is for a start. Unlike the Son of a Toolmaker at al.

She won't make it to the election.

Posters were adamant she wouldn't get elected to leader too.

But for the Conservatives to get into power, it will need to be a PUBLIC vote.

It's Badenoch's own party who have voted her in, less than 100,000 members. NOT the public. They will never win a General Election with her as leader.

Dreadful move. She only got just over half the votes too. 56%.

FfsBrian · 02/11/2024 13:48

amigafan2003 · 02/11/2024 13:13

"We need a strong and articulate opposition"

So why did they pick Kemi?

Tell me you've not watched any of her speeches, debates or enquiries with out telling me you've never seen any of her speeches, debates or enquiries.

Its one thing hating her policies but don't pretend she is weak and unintelligent because she certainly isn't. That shows more about you than anything else

A rather higher percentage than it took Keir to win the election.

Absolutely amazing

She is very bright and credible

Inspirational for black girls to see

A great day

That’s just rubbish and her comments were taken out of context.

Have you actually listened to the interview where she is asked about maternity pay? Hard to see how you can decide her comments were taken out of context. What do you think she meant?

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 02/11/2024 13:50

Peanuttyy · 02/11/2024 11:44

You can’t compare them. The leadership contest was postal voting and online, postal vote turnout is always higher than overall turnout at general elections. Also the electorate in the leadership contest have paid to be members of the party, therefore they should have a greater vested interest and level of engagement than the general population.

Ok, in that case let’s compare it to when Keir Starmer was elected.

Turnout within the Labour Party when he was elected leader was 62.58 %.

Llhaaf · 02/11/2024 13:52

Labour are also screwed at the next election. They’ve proven themselves to be economically illiterate, cruel and a bunch of self serving hypocrites.

So if the conservatives have no chance and Labour are screwed, that leaves…

Did you actually read/watch her comments in full or have you just fallen for the cherry picked extracts peddled around on social media??
