100%

On the basis of a just elected, untested and controversial leader ? Are you serious ?

FfsBrian · 02/11/2024 13:06

violentovulation · 02/11/2024 13:05

Entertaining is one word for it.

Fuck the Tories.

FfsBrian · 02/11/2024 13:03

@username7891 So keir didnt join a Czechoslovakian work camp during Cold War?

I bet he didnt also serve on the Trilateral Commission alongside two former heads of the CIA without telling Jeremy Corbyn—who would have blocked it?

This man is a danger to the U.K

Would you be surprised to hear that he purged the left while leader of the opposition and many people don't think he's left enough? I wouldn't worry about reeducation camps, just yet.

Well I like her. She's a strong, eloquent woman who has a record of standing up for women.

This is the funniest post on the thread. She stands up for women?! 😂 Are you having a laugh?!!!!!!!!!!

Maternity pay has gone too far, says Kemi Badenoch - BBC News

Kemi Badenoch speaking at a Conservative Party leadership campaign

Maternity pay has gone too far, says Kemi Badenoch

The Tory leadership candidate says the government should be reducing regulatory burdens for businesses.

And this is who Torys are now. A man who would be happy to see his own mother in difficulties because of how she votes. I'd be so ashamed if this was a friend or family member of mine. Why is this considered normal behaviour?

wickerlady · 02/11/2024 13:07

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 02/11/2024 11:17

Now THAT I did not see coming. Shock

Really?

SundayBloodySunday · 02/11/2024 12:42

Actually, this really upsets me. Both candidates were awful and it's terrible for the nation if we have a poor opposition. Tory's should hang their head in shame. Where have all the normal, not far right bordering on extremist Tory's gone.

How is she extremist?

Cummings lived in Russia for a few years, does that make him a raging communist?

Badenoch work in Macd's does make her working class?

Honestly, debate the issues and differences by all means but some of the arguments on here are for the playground.

Her voting record on Abortion, for most women, should be a worry, i hope as leader, her views moderate, we don't need Republican politics here in the UK.

floradora · 02/11/2024 13:09

FfsBrian · 02/11/2024 12:41

Same here. Starmer is a raging communist - he went to a bloody training camp when he was in his 20s

Watched a docu last night about stalins Communism last night and i was filled with dread

@FfsBrian "Starmer is a raging communist" 😂😂😂

Privileged like much of Labour leadership + cabinet then ie Oxford educated, landlords earning money from renting properties out (Reeves), happy to take backhanders and freebies, gold plating their own pensions?

Difference being Labour are redistributing the wealth.

Toseland · 02/11/2024 13:10

"So they've put Badenoch in place. Her job is to shout angry accusations at Starmer every Wednesday lunchtime for the next 4 years and to put her name to articles in the Mail, Express and Telegraph critical of anything and everything that Labour are doing..."
This is what a Leader of the Opposition should be doing!
We need a strong and articulate opposition to hold the Government to account. (Something that we've not seen a good example of from Labour when they were in opposition.)

Where ? What exactly is there in the budget that will benefit working people ?
Edited to take out ‘the working man’ and replace with working people.

I would hope she can also put forward the Tories alternatives,

.....she wants a smaller state, so lets hear what she would cut?

Savingthehedgehogs · 02/11/2024 13:12

Incredible news, I am delighted!
First black female party leader.
The conservatives have given themselves the best possible chance of winning, she is strong, intelligent and has the backing of the whole party.

Rosscameasdoody · 02/11/2024 13:12

EasternStandard · 02/11/2024 13:10

Have you voted Conservative before?

Never. Labour voter all my life. Not particularly impressed with Starmers’ mob so far to be honest.

ThreeTescoBags · 02/11/2024 13:12

The Conservatives see their problem being that they lost votes to reform, which yes they did but those votes only translated to 5 seats, the votes they lost to the Lib Dems translated to 72 seats. A lurch to the right is not going to appeal to Lib Dem voters. At the end of the day it's centrists that win elections, that's why Corbyn couldn't win and why Badenoch will be a caretaker until the next David or Davina Cameron emerges through the ranks.

Hats off to her for the campaign she has fought though, politically she's not my cup of tea but she has been excellent in capturing the right time and mood for making her move and generating headlines.

Look at her voting record - that’ll give you a good idea.

TooBigForMyBoots · 02/11/2024 13:13

I'm glad Jenrick lost. That's what he gets for being a petty minded fucker at the tax payers expense.

I'm glad Badenoch won. I was worried that the Tory party's crazy psychodrama was over, but no, there's still plenty to come.Grin

So why did they pick Kemi?
