Labour posters seem to say this, but if they are not those who would vote Conservative it's not really relevant

You’re possibly right and I certainly don’t have any data to say you are wrong. I’m a leftie but didn’t vote Labour when Corbyn was leader. I saw him on the stump, was a great orator, really impressive and I could see why so many got enthused by him. He was never going to get elected as he couldn’t develop the necessary broad support to get over the line. More importantly I felt he couldn’t do the actual work of government which is always about compromise, about putting the policy before ego or rigid ideology to actually getting something done. I see something similar in Badenoch’s presentation.

@FfsBrian "Starmer is a raging communist"

He's under pretty deep cover if he is!

"I agree it's quite offensive - how about maybe just maybe she got the job because she was the best person for it !"

"I find it incredible that someone would post that"

I was being sarcastic - she got the job because she was the best person for it - her skin colour or sex was massively irrelevant, although clearly not to some posters

She is definitely NOT more unelectable than Corbyn.

She absolutely is

Shadowmooth · 02/11/2024 12:55

Kemi’s a peach. A look at her voting record tells you all you need to know

Kemi Badenoch elected as Tory leader
Kemi Badenoch elected as Tory leader
Kemi Badenoch elected as Tory leader
Kemi Badenoch elected as Tory leader
Kemi Badenoch elected as Tory leader

If you like culture war bullshit and nasty stuff go ahead and cheer for her. Her comments are disgusting but yes apparently it makes her very delectable tye stuff she says about people that are needing help etc. Funny how all the ones slating the budget because it affected people are now happy with kemi who's happy to go against disabled peope etc

I don’t disagree with what you say about Badenoch but I wouldn’t be too complacent and about the sick and disabled because I suspect Labour are planning a tsunami of welfare reform in the spring. In particular Labour have been very tight lipped about what they intend to do about PIP reform, leaving thousands of disabled people who rely on that benefit for their extra costs in limbo, and scared of what may be coming. That suggests radical reform, and it’s the most severely disabled who cost the most, so it doesn’t take a genius to figure out where the cuts will come.

Llhaaf · 02/11/2024 12:56

@ilovesooty @BIossomtoes

So you think it’s nasty because:

  1. We should struggle ourselves to help mil, despite her politics of envy making her worse off and despite the fact we can’t afford to pay her fuel bills?
  2. I just shouldn’t admit to feeling this way about her?
Labour did this to her. Very nasty indeed.
CurlewKate · 02/11/2024 12:56

@Llhaaf "
So she’s still happy with her choice. My husband has told her not to come to us for help. That this is what she wanted. We are not made of money, so she can reap the benefits of her vote."

I am so hoping this isn't real. It can't be, surely?

Rosscameasdoody · 02/11/2024 12:56

amigafan2003 · 02/11/2024 12:54

Yep. I suspect the effect will be the same. Corbyn in a frock.

She got the job because she was the best of a bad bunch. The only good part is that Jenrick lost.

The conservative members of course thought Truss was the solution to our problems, so I will withhold judgement on their next choice.

Totally agree and I am feeling pretty nervous about what is yet to come.

She is essentially no different from the rest of her party Privileged. And she will represent others who are privileged. Unsure what the obsession with the colour of her skin and what sex she is has to do with anything.

justasking111 · 02/11/2024 13:01

I wish her the best of luck, she needs to search out for some new blood, some of the men who've had bums on seats for years, I'd swerve. She has the time to experiment. Break some moulds.

CurlewKate · 02/11/2024 13:02

I'm looking forward to seeing PMQs. I think Starmer will find it hard to land a blow-she's too erratic for him.

Watched a docu last night about stalins Communism last night and i was filled with dread

This is the thread that keeps on giving.

@username7891 So keir didnt join a Czechoslovakian work camp during Cold War?

I bet he didnt also serve on the Trilateral Commission alongside two former heads of the CIA without telling Jeremy Corbyn—who would have blocked it?

This man is a danger to the U.K

Privileged like much of Labour leadership + cabinet then ie Oxford educated, landlords earning money from renting properties out (Reeves), happy to take backhanders and freebies, gold plating their own pensions?

The first black female leader of a mainstream political party. Quite a thing.

This statement is worth celebrating. The fact that it is her is not.

I actually think the Tory party now has a core membership of moderates

So moderates can vote for Badenoch after all
