For all Labour bang on about being representatives of minority, I can’t ever imagine them having a black female leader.

The unions and, by extension, labour are still boys clubs.

EasternStandard · 02/11/2024 12:29

Lonelycrab · 02/11/2024 12:27

They’d have had a far better chance with Cleverly. Badenoch is just another culture wars right winger, they’re making the same mistake again by trying to out-reform the reform party. Their path back to power will be in the centre ground, and she ain’t it.

Labour posters seem to say this, but if they are not those who would vote Conservative it's not really relevant

showmethegin · 02/11/2024 12:29

I just want politicians in power who want to make people lives better. I want people to have happier, healthier, more prosperous lives. I'm absolutely sick of this vile, insulting race to the bottom. It's angry and hateful. And it's absolutely what Kemi and many others embody.

ByMerryKoala · 02/11/2024 12:29

CurlewKate · 02/11/2024 12:25

And to think there were threads saying Labour supporters shouldn't comment on the fact that the person delivering the budget speech was the first woman Chancellor!🤣

Maybe one day they'll go wild and go beyond a narrative of progress and actually elect a party leader who isn't yet another white male? I won't hold my breath.

the80sweregreat · 02/11/2024 12:29

Even the chairman said ' there were only two to vote for , how'd they get that wrong ?'
😆
Goes to show that people are people

Crikeyalmighty · 02/11/2024 12:29

@FfsBrian no she fucks me off because she is a nasty piece of work with in my opinion horrible bigoted views and incredibly arrogant - her being black has nothing to do with it . We are entitled not to like someone whether he/she's white, black or Asian - I don't much care for Angela Rayner either - and no it's not because she's northern!!

Laylay100 · 02/11/2024 12:30

"I am struck for example, by the number of recent immigrants to the UK who hate Israel. That sentiment has no place here."
Imagine only allowing people into the country if they like a foreign apartheid state. Disgraceful.

Soontobe60 · 02/11/2024 12:30

Biscuitsneeded · 02/11/2024 11:18

Well, at least now they remain utterly inelectable for the foreseeable future...

Unelectable. If you’re going to be scathing, at least use the correct prefix 😂

ilovesooty · 02/11/2024 12:30

Suo · 02/11/2024 11:48

What are those views, please?

They're easy enough to find and read.
As far as I'm concerned the best that can be said for her is that she believes in her abhorrent views, unlike Jenrick who just said what he thought would get him elected.

quantumbutterfly · 02/11/2024 12:30

Greyrocked · 02/11/2024 12:01

Is this thread being overtaken by Conservative HQ or bots? The comments praising her are wild. You have to have a lot of money to think you can insulate yourself from the policies she would innact.

If you

-need healthcare
-have a disabled child
-have a baby or adopt
-experience depression
-want to be able to access help if your treated unfairly in the workplace
-want to have schools which have teachers in them
-need social care when you’re older

and so many more….. We should be terrified and angry by this selection.

I tick 6 of those boxes and have lived through labour governments in the 70's and 90's,00's.

Starmer is a weak leader and I don't rate the competence or integrity of his cronies.

Wilson was supposed to be a brilliant economist but we struggled in the 70's, Benn was brilliant and principles but ineffectual.

I don't vote for parties I vote for people and hope for the best.

Auvergne63 · 02/11/2024 12:31

Babadookinthewardrobe · 02/11/2024 12:18

Doesn’t answer the question @Auvergne63 - is it because they are women? I’m confused about the basis upon which you group Badenoch, Braverman and Patel together to single out and criticise in your previous post?

I don't like their divisive rhetoric on immigration and their attempt to create a them and us mentality. I judge a politician on their words, not on the colour of their skin or their gender. Does that clarify it for you?

Noisylass · 02/11/2024 12:31

If you like culture war bullshit and nasty stuff go ahead and cheer for her. Her comments are disgusting but yes apparently it makes her very delectable tye stuff she says about people that are needing help etc. Funny how all the ones slating the budget because it affected people are now happy with kemi who's happy to go against disabled peope etc

Soontobe60 · 02/11/2024 12:32

showmethegin · 02/11/2024 11:26

Have I wandered into an alternate universe. She's absolutely vile. It's a bad thing for everyone that someone that holds the views she does is in parliament.

Which views in particular?

Here bloody here but all the whining lately about labour as it affects a certain person they didn't give a shit when others are hurt the ones that do need help bu the rhetoric and decisions it makes me sick

showmethegin · 02/11/2024 12:33

@Soontobe60 read her voting record

Soontobe60 · 02/11/2024 12:33

skippy67 · 02/11/2024 11:27

Did you miss her recent comments on maternity rights?

Did you bother to read the full text of what she actually said, or did you just listen to the heavily edited version crafted to make her look bad?

Its so they can pretend they’re not racist etc, its essentially a political version of “but I have a black friend”.

How patronising! A black woman couldn’t possibly get anywhere on their own merits could they."

I agree it's quite offensive - how about maybe just maybe she got the job because she was the best person for it !

I am really starting to think that the real racists are those on the left- for example preaching the message to young black boys that hey don't even bother trying to become a lawyer because of institutional racism and if at first you don't succeed then you may as well give up because the cards are stacked against you. All this achieves is destroying ambition, resilience and hope.

I reckon if we had an election now, the Tories would get in!

100%

This is hilarious. I love the mental gymnastics used to justify her views.

Perimenopausalpenny · 02/11/2024 12:36

Listened to her on the radio the other day and I quite liked her. Thought she talked some sense.

Nobody says that you really haven't got a fucking clue the fact is in the uk and usa there are some with privilege which makes it easier for them . It means that some people have yo work harder to get their place but everyone should work hard but if you already up the ladder in terms of privilege you have it easier. Why can't you guys get that ffs

Llhaaf · 02/11/2024 12:38

MumblesParty · 02/11/2024 12:18

I reckon if we had an election now, the Tories would get in!

Absolutely. I abstained from the last election. I was so angry with the Conservatives. I thought they deserved to loose and I couldn’t have cared less who got in. DH still voted conservative as he felt that the economy was back on track and he didn’t want to risk that.

However, our growing economy has now slowed and Labour has done what they always do and what I thought they wouldn’t do…increase taxes and borrowing. I don’t know why I’m so surprised.

My mil is a staunch Labour voter, and even though she’s just lost her winter fuel allowance and is poorer for it, she maintains that she is glad “rich people aren’t having it anymore”, which strikes me as ridiculous. Rich people aren’t going to miss it. They aren’t out there mourning it, about to struggle. …She is. Her tiny widows pension has taken her just over the limit. She’s broke.

MiL lives by the viewpoint that rather than everyone benefit from a policy, nobody should. If nobody benefitting means people wealthier than her are disadvantaged. She thinks Labour are doing HER a favour by taking away from richer people Ha! Even though she loses out too. I personally just don’t get it.

So she’s still happy with her choice. My husband has told her not to come to us for help. That this is what she wanted. We are not made of money, so she can reap the benefits of her vote.

Perhaps after this year, she’ll change her mind too.

Agreed. Tories fucked themselves up by trying to be centre but ended up left of centre.

She will bring the voters back

How will you know when you've heard all the evidence? At what point will you make a decision?

@PointsSouth ,I tend to listen to both sides of an argument from various sources and then come to a conclusion which usually but not always means that I err in one direction whilst having some sympathy for the opposing view. What about you?
